  1. I like the Kan Do bars. (spelling) They are so good. Made for kids, but love em.
  2. I miss diet coke. I now drink gator aide. I miss angel food cake. Now I eat Safeway's gluten free cake or a really good bakery's cake. But super $$,so has to be a special occation.
  3. I had dreams that I was eating angel food cake and then I'd realize I could never eat it again. I also got super freaked out and depressed that so much of Costco was done for me. My son kep asking me when I could be done with this. It was hard, but we have all gotten used to it. It is better than being sick.
  4. I'm glad someone else thought it was good. I was starting to think I was the only one. I think the story of Sweet Hearts is our story too, don't you think? If you are the child or the parent, you can relate! Thanks so much to the mom and daughter who write it.
  5. I believe there is one in Davis CA. It was listed in one of the Living Without magazines about bay area dining.
  6. I'm just dreaming, but what if all the gluten free restaurants, stores etc.passed out a gluten free treat on Halloween, wouldn't that be fun? Maybe someday.
  7. I didn't read the other posts but our kids in CA hardly trick or treat any more probably due to 9/11. 18 year olds do and some people with babies. Most people attend harvest festivals held on Halloween night. They are at churches and schools. That is what we will be doing from now on. That may be a safe alternative for you. You could contribute some gluten...
  8. Two thoughts, a healthfood store. That is where I got mine. Also Nordstrom should help you. I'd be very amazed if they did not. Look it up and give them a call. If they are not, tell me which store it is and I'll call them. It depends what you want to pay, but someone will help you.
  9. Thanks so much. I hope someone knows. I haven't found too much other than a little bit on related disease info.
  10. Have a fun trip! Los Altos and Palo Alto have a little newspaper. Sunset Magazine is in Meno Park or there about. I wonder if they'd be on board. That would be wonderful if they'd listen. My husband used to be friends with someone that worked there, maybe that is a thought.
  11. It is neat you have an idea of the job you'd like to do. Yes I will give her a call this week. I was thinking about doing a write up on some of the successful(kind, helpful, we don't get sick) gluten free bakeries in this area. Just a thought I'm working on. Instead of giving any attention to all the poor restaurants, to give some attention to the good ones...
  12. I'd love to be part of your dream job. I'm in education too. I've been working hard to keep my credentials up to date, early childhood and multiple subject. I need 20 more hours before December for my site supervisor permit in early childhood. Anything you'd suggest I read or can think of that could work tward these hours for renual that would also educate...
  13. Yes I live near where you are speaking of. Oh my, I can't believe the Chevy's manager asked you to leave! You see why I want to make a difference. I was diagnosed in May. So many things to learn. It is quite the journey. I don't know anyone, but know of some people I'm going to try to meet who have it. I'll contact that person when I have the chance. What...
  14. Someone suggested I check out the GIG website. They have a neat magazine on line of kids. Please check it out. gluten.net Hope it helps. I'm going to share it with my kids. They don't have it but I do. It may help them in dealing with the life style we need to live.
  15. I just found something cool on line, it may help. I'll post it in the above post.
  16. Unfortunately I'm about 3 hours north of Marin. As far as I can tell, my area has nothing. It is hard to brave celiac with nothing. Do you have celiac? Yes any info you can pass on to me would be wonderful. I haven't figured out the private messaging here. Remind me again how it works. Thanks so much for helping me. I was looking at the GIG web site. They...
  17. So what do you do now? Do you have a phone number for this person, I'd love to talk to her about this. You never know, I do have 2 teaching credentials. I just want to educate and have people care. I just had a hysterectomy and only one nurse knew what celiac even was. My husband is a nurse and he had never learned about it before. Thank you for your info...
  18. I'd love love love to work on that in my community, northern CA. Not much safe choice around here. My kids miss eating out and wish I could go out more.If you know how this program works, please let me know. Two women just started a gluten free bakery. They are opening up the doors for change. As you may recall the highest end restaurant glutened me and they...
  19. For me I realized that steak and greesy food makes me sick now. Chips can be unpredictable and any new processed food. Eating out makes me sick. I love millet bread and fruit and yogert. I usually do well with these things. Baked chicken is ok too.
  20. My uterine problems started at the same time as the celiac. Who knows why. I'm 5 weeks out of a hysterectomy. For me it was good. Hystersisters is a very good forum if you need help with pelvic issues, not just hysterectomys.
  21. So that is good news. Thanks for your advice throught it.
  22. Mom,friend and I use wrist splints when we get this problem. We get them at the drug store. We sleep with them on and problem is gone.
  23. My husband is a non drinker and quite thin. If he takes anything, he is affected quickly. To keep a tolerance up you have to drink all the time. For health reasons, sounds like you're not doing that, so you can get affected a lot easier and quicker if you are not drinking regularly. Hope that makes sense.
  24. Anyone eaten at PF Changs? They advertise a gluten-free menue? How did it Go? There is one 5 hrs away near my mom's.
  25. We heard from an alergist that son, age 7 doesn't have it. Now just have to hear on daughter, 6. So thanks for listening.
