  1. How did you get a doctor to do a biopsy after a negative blood test?
  2. It may depend on the panel they ordered. I know when I looked out our Lab's test menu, they had several different celiac panels. They also had a gluten sensitivity panel. Some included more tests than others.
  3. How does one that has negative blood work even get a biopsy? Won't most GI doctors refuse based on the blood work?
  4. From what I've managed to read, it seems it depends on the extent of the damage and the person. I've read that in mild damage the villi can repair in as little as three days, but sometimes like with older people it could take a year.
  5. In the interview the Dr. said if you are GS you will feel better quickly, in days or weeks. But if you are celiac it will take weeks, months, or years. Do you find that to be true?
  6. So if one is positive on the blood work, but ends up negative on the biopsy, I should consider them gluten intolerant? To be on the safe side, should I have their siblings tested as well? It is better to assume there is a genetic component until studies prove differently.

If you went back on gluten after being gluten-free for a period of time (for the sake of blood work or biopsy) did you end up being positive, or were you still negative? Also, how long did you stay off gluten?

I'm surprised that you have no gut symptoms but had villi damage. I was under the impression no gut symptoms means that your leaning toward gluten intolerance. My child has no gut symptoms.   11. Has anyone gone back on gluten after being gluten-free, and actually have the bloodwork or biopsy come back positive? Also, how long did you eat the gluten for? Just wondering if it will actually make a difference on the tests.

  13. I don't think it's a coincidence that his scalp cleared up that quickly, after years of trying different shampoos. The dermatologist even gave him a prescription for a 4oz bottle of shampoo that cost $100. Can you imagine? In all, the doctors have prescribed 6 different meds to take.   16. Could be tied to a different food. Perhaps you could start a food diary and see if there is a certain type of food you eat before your symptoms appear. or do an elimination diet.

  18. I read that as well. I was a study out of Israel where they noticed a link between they non-h pylori stomach ulcers and celiac. They said it normally presented during the second decade of life.
