  1. connole1056, I bought the IANs chicken nuggets for my daughter and she hates them too. Where did you get the Wellshire Farms ones?
  2. Thanks guys! I think I will go ahead and try it and try working with the chefs to see what they can make for my little girl!
  3. We are going out of town next week and for my husband's birthday had planned on going to a Red Lobster in Bloomington, Indiana. I wrote to Red Lobster asking about gluten-free items and they wrote back saying that they can't guarantee any of their items are gluten-free. Has anyone eaten there before and had a good experience? Or should I not let my daughter...
  4. Ah man. I live in Arizona and no one out here knows anything about gluten. pooh. None of our stores have anything...not even rice pasta.
  5. Thanks celiac3270! This helps a ton!
  6. Tamara, that is exactly like my little girl. She ate SO much before and would always beg for food--but was under weight because it kept coming out right away. Now she eats hardly anything. I have a hard time getting her to eat even a tiny bit. And she won't eat things she normally would have. Its hard to adjust to, but I just try to go with it.
  7. wow, you guys are great! I'm feeling much better now. I thought I was gonna lose it. My husband has been gone for a month and he comes home for one week, then leaves again. I've been doing this all on my own and its really starting to be unbearable. My daughter, Leah, had bloodwork to check for dairy intolerance, but it was negative. I am keeping...
  8. Thanks guys! I got one!
  9. I didn't realize that most of candy is gluten-free. Well that's a relief. But I will also use the idea of trading bad candy for good. that was a good idea. Oh, and Richard, I was wondering if I could have your recipe for the chocolate peanut butter balls. ? Thanks!
  10. Kaseys'mom, I'm so glad that it isn't just my child. She used to be little miss social butterfly, having fun and being so nice and friendly. But lately, especially after all of her doctor's appointments (6 in 2 weeks and 2 hospital visits) she is really acting out. I'm with you--I hate coming down on her hard for her behavior when I know she's feeling...
  11. I just didn't know how my little baby would handle getting all that candy, then me taking it away from her if she can't eat it. I would feel awful. Yeah, I know I need to take it one day at a time, but I'm the kind that has to plan ahead and think about the future so I am ready for it. I'll try to relax though.
  12. The thing that kills me about the cost is that we never used to go out to eat because I hated to spend the money, and I never even bought name brand items in the stores because I hated to spend so much money on things. Now I have to spend so much more. freaks me out. But I budgeted today and found other ways to cut back in our spending on other things...
  13. Hi, I was just wondering what everyone does with their little ones on holidays. My 2 year old has celiac disease and I'm just wondering if I'm ever gonna be able to let her go trick -or- treating. Also, what do you provide your kids for Easter and Christmas?
  14. I have a two and a half year old who was just diagnosed a few days ago. She has been having some serious temper tantrums like none she's ever had. She acts really mad at me and hits, bites, and pinches me. (i'm the one who has taken her to all of her dr. appointments because my husband travels and has been out of town for a month so she gets really...
  15. You have some fantastic ideas Sharon. I was wondering where you got the gluten-free coating mix for chicken nuggets. Is that at Whole Foods? Also, do you have a recipe for homemade gluten-free mac n cheese?
  16. Sally, the Whole Foods here by me in Arizona doesn't have a bakery in it and they don't carry fresh bakery goods. I checked online and only certain Whole Foods have the bakerys right now. But they have tons of other things. I have to drive 30 minutes to get there, but its worth the drive!
  17. Thanks so much Kaiti! I'm going to get some of that so I won't gluten my daughter while making her food too. Although I'm sad I have to get rid of my giant (30 bottle) nail polish collection now.
  18. I just found out two days ago that my 2 year old is a celiac. And I have spent the last 2 days scouring info online and hanging out at grocery stores trying to figure things out. I have to agree with you---it does seem so much more difficult and expensive when you have a child with celiac disease. She has only certain things that she will eat to...
  19. anyone know offhand a drugstore brand (maybelline, covergirl, etc.) that has nail polish that is gluten-free? I love to paint my 2 year olds nails, but now am afraid to gluten her.
  20. I keep seeing people talking about using a Restaurant Card when dining out to help explain to the waiters and the cooks. What is it exactly and how or where do I get one for my daughter? Thanks in advance!
  21. Okay, been doing more shopping and I've come up with two more questions for you smarties. First, I've noticed that a lot of the gluten free premade breads come frozen. Do I always have to keep the bread frozen or is that just the way the stores are keeping them good longer? Second, I've heard that I need to find special gluten free vanilla extract...
  22. I actuallly called Kelloggs this weekend to find out about some of their products, and they said that only their Eggo brand syrups are gluten-free. (all 3 flavors). They said everything else they make has gluten.
  23. Just new at this but i have a question---- How careful do I need to be with drinks for my daughter? Are most all drinks gluten-free? Which ones specifically should I stay away from--or do I need to be real careful and check them all also?
  24. Thanks so much celiac3270! I got the list and have started looking it over. Of course now my head is swimming with so much info! lol!
  25. Thanks so much for the lists and the replys. I'm going shopping in a bit to buy new pots and pans and utensils for my daughter, along with food just for her. I'm gonna mark her special, and safe, items with pink stickers so she can easily see that they are safe (also for babysitters and family members to be able to know at a glance) and keep her cooking...
