  1. I have recently seen a number of posts about many pain related issues with celiac. Seems like many folks including myself experience rib cage pain, and back pain, as well as abdominal pain. I don't know if this ever improves, but I sure hope so, as it is debilitating at times. It is truly hard to imagine that an intestinal process can cause all of this...
  2. I am sorry Irish Heart, when I said I started the probiotic, I meant I just started it a couple of days ago, and I do realize that gallbladder healing is not instant. I guess you just think after suffering for so long that you are going to go through this big ordeal like surgery and bango everything is going to be normal again and on with life like I used...
  3. I did start a Probiotic called ultimate flora, states it is both gluten and dairy free containing 30 billion active cultures per capsule. I have thought this from the word go, that my flora is way out of whack, weird that no matter what I do, I just can't seem to get to feeling better. I don't know this kinds from any other, other than they appear safe...
  4. Frustration, I really do try to stay optimistic and realize that surgery recovery takes some time. I guess what I am perplexed by is how far to keep pushing. do I accept how I feel(lousy) even before the gallbladder surgery with this constant malaise, or keep looking for additional answers. Seems hard for me to believe that all of this is related to Celiac...
  5. In the wake of getting my gallbladder out a few days ago I am still pretty sore and feel rotten. Even prior to that though one of things that I just keep searching for an answer for is this feeling of just feeling sick. It is truly hard to put into words, maybe a feeling of some bloating, combined with malaise, through in a little nauseaa and fatigue, as...
  6. Well have been gluten free for months with little improvement in symptoms, 3 days ago had gallbladder surgery due to continued pain in the upper belly with radiation through into my back and shoulder. Prior to surgery had u/s and hida scan, u/s showed polyps but hida was OK, but one of my gi docs and surgeon were convinced my gallbladder was playing a role...
  7. Pondy Glad to hear you got a solid plan, I am writing this from bed being 1 day out from the gallbladder surgery yesterday. Wow, I was surely mistaken thinking that a laparascopic procedure would be a breeze. I am in all kinds of pain today, but hoping to recover quickly. I an nutshell my surgeon who is a good buddy of mine was quite suprised to find...
  8. Pondy, Weird to hear you mention your symptoms of rib pain, I have been gluten free nearly 4 months or so and have been not even 1% better, my biggest issue is a constant, and I mean constant deep gnawing ache in my a upper abdomen, and horrendous mid back and rib pain, most of mine is on the right side occasionally on the left, feels like somewhat kidney...
  9. I explained to him that I have constant abdominal pain in the upper part of abdomen, mind you this is two diff. gastro docs, one at mayo and one at home, both of whom said that is atypical for me to have pain, as usually celiac disease causes more of an upset stomach and bloating, but shouldn't cause real significant pain. This is 24/7 discomfort I told...
  10. My gastro's tell me it is not common to have abdominal pain with celiac to the degree that I have it, which sucks by the way, because I have it and am not making it up just to spend the money for an office visit. I know some folks don't have pain at all, just like I have no diarrhea, but for those who do, was wondering what your felt like, and how long...
  11. I am as religious as possible about cross contamination and primarily try to avoid most of all processed foods even if they say gluten free. I have had 3 EGD's in 4 months, which revealed minimal gastritis and only mild inflammation by biopsy in my doudenum, and actually my celiac labs TTG has normalized from 29 down to 3. I did have a u/s of my gallbladder...
  12. throughout my posts I have experienced considerable pain from this, or what I think is this damn disease was really hoping to know if anyone else feels like this? Have been gluten free now for 3 month, seems like a short period of time compared to many, but feels like an eternity when you are in pain everyday My pain is constant, 24/7 pain almost regardless...
  13. Thanks for the words of wisdom, I have tried to keep my diet as healthy as possible for quite some time in addition to being gluten free. Just so very frustrated, living in pain just flat out sucks. Never thought this is where my life would end up, I get frustrated looking back to 5 months ago when I felt like a million bucks, i guess it is easy to look...
  14. I have posted a few questions related to my case but will reiterate briefly. I was a very healthy active 41y/o guy until 4 months ago, and developed a leg injury and strep throat at the beginning of august, had to take some antibiotics in the form of Zithromax, on day 5 of 5, I started getting nauseuos and belching alot with a lump in my throat, since then...
  15. Brookevale You and I have a very similar story I was a very healthy 41y/o guy, who developed strep throat 4 months ago, prior to that had been doing well, I started a course of antibiotics and on the 5th day it was like a lightswitch, instantly nauseous and epigastric pain that is relentless, radiating into my midback and right shoulder blade. I have had...
  16. Feeling helpless, depressed, and tired of being in constant pain, enough so, that I have a hard time even enjoying my own beautiful children and not being the father I should be
  17. Seeing your full panel looks much more reassuring, I thought it was your total iron that was 17, but I see it is your iron saturation, your ferritin and TIBC are normal, no worries
  18. Ditto what mushroom said, one other thing to consider is that there are two measurable HLA markers for celaic that the Mayo clinic lab can run, the tricky part is that many folks in the general public may carry these markers, however if the HLA markers are negative it is failry accurate for excluding celiac disease as nearly every celiac patient carries them...
  19. Bubba's mom don't be alarmed by your tests, the values you listed are the standards measurements for reporting that most labs use in this country use, you are correct Vit. d is reported as ng/ml and a value of 66 is not that high, that is not to say that supratherapeutic dosages of Vit. d cannot create toxicity, but at the typical range recommended for...
  20. Keep in mind the 50,000 Iu's dose is for someone who is deficient in Vit. D, you are not, so don't take that much, just to clarify
  21. that would explain the CEA level, he is likely doing this as a tumor marker to assess for any porgression of your colon cancer, as far as the Vit. D supplements, relaize that 80% of folks living in the midwest have clinical Vit. D deficency due to limited sun exposure, taking supplemental Vit. D will not harm you, your levels should be above 30 at least,...
  22. Not real sure why they were checking a c-peptide on you, unless they are suspecting early diabetes? Anyhow the CEA level is a tumor marker for certain types of cancer, different CEA pertain to different types of cancer, CEA is also non specific but glad yours is low, most commonly used looking for liver, colon, and then women sometimes you may see a CA-...
  23. Oh I forgot the C-peptide is different than c-reative protein(CRP) is a non specific marker of inflammation, not to be confused with c-peptide, C-peptide is a protein that binds insulin molecules, used to differentiate between Type 1 and type diabetes, not sure why they drew this, are you sure this wasn't a C-reative protein???
  24. I can tell you what they mean, your hemoglobin is low normal but sufficient at 12.5, your MCV is a measure of the size of your red blood cells, stands for mean corpuscular volume, yours is low normal coupled with a low iron level of 17 suggests that you have a borderline anemia, what you didn't report is your actual TIBC, this should be somewhere in the range...
