Robbin, you know I just assumed the supplements the Homeopath gave me are gluten free. I will check when I get home. Most of them say starch free. I mostly use Solgar supplements - not sure if you get them over in your part of the world. I phoned them to check and they said they make every effort to make sure their products are gluten free but cannot...

I have never had a problem with D - only now if I get glutened I get a short bout. I have chronic C and have had my whole life. It has not cleared up after 10 months gluten free. When I say chronic - if I don't take laxatives I just don't go - period. Others mention being constipated and only going 3 times a week. I have allowed myself to go for...

Hi Paulina, Thanks for that. Funnily enough, I noticed recently that I feel the best when I'm eating lean red meat twice a day - a bit of mince or a steak. I've never really been into red meat that much but it definitely seems to agree with me lately. Also it fills me up more than anything else. I'm going to stick to that for a couple of days and...

Thanks everyone for the responses. Jen - I keep promising myself I'll eliminate dairy for a while as it may help with my C which is chronic but I haven't stuck to it because I don't have any GI symptoms from dairy, although saying that, a glass of milk makes me feel a bit iffy. Staying off the dairy won't be a problem as I've cut down a lot - its just...

Jen, coming to my rescue again! I threw the sweet packet away but it had Manitol, Sorbitol and a couple of others. I try and avoid artificial sweetners but every now and again I really crave something sweet. I was told I was intolerant to sucrose and borderline fructose by the same BEST technician who picked up the other intolerances. Its bio-energetic...

Hi guys, Been gluten-free for 10 months now. I still look about 6 months pregnant some days. It looks ridiculous because I'm quite slim. I avoid all the other things I've been told I have intolerances to - rice, seeds, peanuts, chocolate (well I avoid this as much as possible , sugar (I use Stevia occasionally), alcohol. I limit my dairy - just...

ARCHIVED Did U Find More Sensitivites To Foods?
Bonnie replied to Moongirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have also become aware of LOADS of intolerances/sensitivites since going gluten-free 10 months ago. I had never been aware of them before. I don't really understand it at all to be honest. I have a terrible rice intolerance, cannot tolerate alcohol at all, seeds, peanuts, chocolate, sugar, legumes and any processed food at all. Its a nightmare.... -
ARCHIVED Went To The Gastroenterologist And Now Im Confused And Embarrassed
Bonnie replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry you had to be seen by such an ignorant doctor. I have seen one GI only and he told me I can't have celiac disease because I'm not wasting away. What a load of bull. You should read "Dangerous Grains". I have just finished reading it last night and obesity is mentioned throughout. In fact, if I remember correctly, there are more obese Celiacs... -
ARCHIVED Mayonaise
Bonnie replied to Squall's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Squall, Don't be too upset at yourself. It takes a long time to get this right. It will eventually become second nature, believe it or not! Margarine can have gluten in it, you need to check the labels. I, personally, stay away from it altogether and use butter. As for mayonnaise - I have yet to find one that DOES have gluten in it. ... -
ARCHIVED Leaky Gut Syndrome & Gilbert's
Bonnie posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi everyone, Been gluten-free for 10 months now. I cannot believe how it has become second nature. I don't even have any "accidents"! My bloating, gas, constipation etc. was getting bad again even on the gluten-free diet. I EVENTUALLY (hallelujah!) found someone to take me seriously - a Homeopath. He did a whole lot of tests - blood, platelets... -
Hi guys, I started doing my own version of this 4 weeks ago. Been gluten-free 10 months now but was still having terrible stomach problems. FINALLY found a Homeopath who did a whole lot of blood tests, liver function and a couple of others. They found Gilbert's Syndrome which explains the chronic nausea and why I wake up with yellow eyes every day...

ARCHIVED Few Symptoms After Eating Gluten Again
Bonnie replied to kokoann(sara)'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sara, I have been gluten-free for 9 months. I did a challenge after 3 months with 2 slices of ordinary white bread. Immediate symptoms - was as sick as a dog for 10 days. However, my GI wanted to do a biopsy so I went back onto gluten for a couple of days - not bread but small amounts of gluten in puddings, sausages etc. I never had any immediate symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Self-diagnosed, Looking For Help Understanding..
Bonnie replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Nomad, I also have huge problems with constipation. Have had my whole life. It makes my body toxic which causes liver problems etc. I too have had bloody stools. I have only been gluten-free for 9 months and although I feel so much better the constipation hasn't changed at all. I have tried every remedy and laxative I can get my hands on over... -
ARCHIVED Really Getting Frustrated Again!
Bonnie replied to danikali's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Dani, I have been gluten-free for 9 months now and am still having problems with other intolerances. As the others mentioned, fruit can be a problem. Any fruit other than bananas upset my stomach - gas and bloating. I am VERY intolerant of rice so perhaps eliminate that for a while too. I also have a problem with sulphites which are... -
ARCHIVED Aaahhhhh ? Problems With Dairy
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone for the advice! Jen, thanks for taking the time to type all that! Very helpful. Tiffany I can't get Trader Joes here but thanks for all the info. I never thought of dark chocolate - will need to do some serious investigating! I am so stupid - I thought mayo had dairy in it! Bridget, please let me know what your GI says ... -
I agree 100%. Thanks so much Scott. I don't know if you realise how much this forum means to us. I felt so alone at first and now if I have any problem, I know where to come. Heartfelt thanks!!! Yvonne

ARCHIVED Aaahhhhh ? Problems With Dairy
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Jen, I tried soya milk this morning - not bad on my cereal but totally DISGUSTING in coffee I've tasted rice milk before and I really like it so that's obviously the way to go rather than soya. BUT what about chocolate? Surely there is no such thing as dairy-free chocolate? Actually I think CF is really daunting, more so than gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Aaahhhhh ? Problems With Dairy
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Jen, you are an absolute star. I have always had a little niggle in the back of the my mind that my constipation may improve if I stay off dairy but I've conveniently ignored it! I think staying of dairy is a hell of a lot more difficult than staying off gluten which I managed relatively easily. But you can used to anything I reckon. So starting... -
ARCHIVED Aaahhhhh ? Problems With Dairy
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry, just thought of something else. Sure its been asked many times but what is the difference between casein intolerance, dairy or lactose intolerance? I'm very confused. I bought some lactose reduced milk yesterday but I'm still feeling yucky today. Not ill ill, just a bit nauseous all the time, stomach rumbly and a bit achy. So how would I avoid... -
ARCHIVED Aaahhhhh ? Problems With Dairy
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone for your responses. You guys are so good on this forum - don't know what I'd do without it! I haven't actually had any allergy testing. I had intolerance testing for specific food on the BEST system. This system was what picked up my gluten orginally. It also picked up intolerances to rice, seeds, chocolate, peanuts, sucrose etc.... -
Hi guys, I have noticed the last week every time I have milk or yoghurt I feel really nauseous but even more strange - my heartbeat goes crazy - really fast. The nausea is bad especially after quite a lot of milk e.g. in cereal. I have been tested for dairy before and it came back negative. Are these normal symptoms of dairy intolerance or could...

ARCHIVED Women, Have U Used Depo Provera Before Symptoms Started?
Bonnie replied to jen3899's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Jennifer, Now that is the strangest thing. I have been thinking a lot over the last few weeks about what could have been my trigger. I have had stomach/digestive problems my whole life but things really came to a head last year. I got a Depo injection last year in August for the first time in my life. I had terrible problems from it - bled non... -
ARCHIVED Oh My Tummy!
Bonnie replied to VydorScope's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Vincent, Sorry to hear you're not feeling great. So your tests are negative for celiac disease, however, you may have gluten intolerance without any detectable damage. I still think you should remain gluten free. I had a mini cheesecake when I was intending to have a biopsy and I was fine BUT then I had 2 slices of bread and thought I was going to... -
Maggie, I have numerous intolerances, one of which is sucrose, and the fructose is borderline. I can eat bananas all day every day with no problems - all other fruit gives me a sore stomach and bloats me. I have been gluten free for 7 months now. When I first went gluten free I couldn't handle any sugar at all. Sweets and chocolates were the worst...

ARCHIVED Mucle Cramps
Bonnie replied to elisabet's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Danikali, The BEST System - Bio Energetic Stress System - is quite incredible. It is based on a computer programme that 'reads' your organs and body processes. It is done through the pressure points on your hands and feet. It picks up imbalances in the body and is fantastic for picking up food allergies / intolerances. I was quite sceptical when...
