ARCHIVED What's The Deal With Tomato Paste?
Bonnie replied to Jodi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use tomato paste quite often - the only ingredient listed is tomatoes. Are you guys saying there is wheat in them? I can't get any of those brand names mentioned - just use ordinary grocery store brands. Yvonne -

ARCHIVED Has Anyone Done The Gluten Challenge?
Bonnie replied to cgilsing's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
After only being gluten free for 6 weeks, I had the blood tests and they came back negative. 6 Months gluten free I did a gluten challenge. I ate 2 slices of ordinary bread. I have never had such pain in my entire life. For 48 hours I saw black dots in front of my eyes and passed out from the severity of the pains. My whole body ached, the brain... -
ARCHIVED Think Its The Darn Lipstick!
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Meredith, thats a great idea. I will try and find some coconut oil. Thanks for that. Tiredofdoctors - I can't get any of those products here. We do get Neutrogena facial products but no makeup or lipsticks. Yvonne -
ARCHIVED Sorry - Another Stupid Question!
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Jen, I will stay off for 3 weeks from now. You advised me before that the dairy may be a reason for my chronic C. I am very very intolerant to rice. Don't touch the stuff anymore and I don't really eat soya. I also bloat really badly from any type of legume or bean - lentils, aduki beans, black eyes beans - pity because I really enjoy them... -
ARCHIVED Sorry - Another Stupid Question!
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
To be honest, I don't fancy using Lactaid pills (if we even have them here!). I would rather just stay off it altogether. I'm going to stay off dairy completely for another 2 weeks to double check that it is affecting my bloating. If my bloating gets better again, then I'll stay off for a long period. This bloating is the bane of my life. I am a slim... -
ARCHIVED Think Its The Darn Lipstick!
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Jen, I am using one called Vaseline Lip Balm. I will have to call the manufacturers. I am addicted to the stuff. As soon as I get home off comes the lipstick and on goes the chapstick Yvonne -
ARCHIVED Think Its The Darn Lipstick!
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Patti & Nini, We don't have a Whole Foods here. We have got plenty health shops but they sell mostly vitamins and a very small selection of imported processed gluten free foods - no lip balms or anything like that. I think I will just have to try and call the manufacturers again of the ones I can find. To make matters worse - my sister... -

Thanks for your help guys. I hope its just the lactose - that's easy done. I would like a little cheese or plain yoghurt every now and again for variety! BEST stands for Bio-Energetic Stress Testing. Its a computerised system that has a trained technician testing your pulse points in your hands and feet. The computer "reads" imbalances. I had... -
Well guys, this forum has been my lifeline this last year. But I must admit I thought changing make-up etc. was really going to the extreme. This last month my arms have been aching constantly - I mean 24/7. Sore arms is a sure sign I have been glutened. I have gone over and over everything I've eaten and was flummoxed. Then last week reading through...

Hi guys, So I started keeping a food diary a month ago. I also cut out dairy for 2 weeks. Haven't noticed much difference except maybe my bloating has been less. Friday I had cows milk in my coffee, within a minute my stomach started rumbling and I got some really "pleasant" wind! So Saturday I tried some fudge containing milk solids - exactly...

For me, nearly a year gluten-free I still have problems with stamina. I try to do 30 minutes of advanced tae-bo every morning but some days I can't manage 15 minutes. I just have no energy at all. More worrying, lately I have noticed my co-ordination is haywire. This is new. Perhaps my problem is due to my Gilbert's Syndrome. No idea. Hope you...

I also get terrible cramps in my toes and feet. The only thing that works for me is Magnesium. I stopped taking it for a few days and the cramps came back! Yvonne

ME TOO!! Exact same problem as DingoGirl - and picture is small! Yvonne

ARCHIVED Looking For A No Soy Soy Sauce
Bonnie replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yes some oyster sauce brands have soy in them but I have found one without! Its delicious. Not sure if you can get it over there though - I live in the back of beyond!! Yvonne -
ARCHIVED Leaky Gut Syndrome & Gilbert's
Bonnie replied to Bonnie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Claire, Yes I am coming to terms with the fact that this is going to take a long long time to come right. I am just being too impatient. I've been a bit worried about what you mentioned about our diets being so limited we tend to eat the same things over and over, and then will probably being intolerant to those foods. Its a vicious cycle.... -
ARCHIVED Looking For A No Soy Soy Sauce
Bonnie replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Have you tried Oyster Sauce. IMO it tastes much better than soy sauce. It is absolutely delicious on chicken or beef! Yvonne -
I just bought a juicer last week and tried it for the first time this weekend. I read that you should start with carrot and apple juice to get used to the taste. I really liked it and I felt really healthy BUT cleaning the darn thing was such a mission. Not sure if I could be bothered to use it every day. Is it necessary to peel everything...

ARCHIVED Help! Will The Secondary Allergies Go Away?
Bonnie replied to bradshank's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi B, I am also struggling with Leaky Gut right now and am intolerant / sensitive to just about everything I put in my mouth. From what I understand though, a lot of these sensitivites will clear up as the gut heals. Very frustrating I know but hang in there! Have you tried taking L-Glutamine? I have noticed a bit of an improvement since I started... -
So glad I'm not the only one binge eating!! I thought I would never have to worry about my weight again going gluten-free. Hah! I put on weight easier now - very strange!! I dont eat processed gluten-free food - I only eat whole foods 99% of the time. Then every 3 days or so I go mad - chocolate and fudge usually. Then I feel really disgusting,...

Lynne, I can so empathise with you. I have had chronic C every since I can remember. I thought going gluten-free would help but 10 months down the line, nothing. I don't go at all unless I take something but whatever I take stops working eventually and I have to find something else! I do not take OTC laxatives but try and stick to herbal/natural remedies...

I have cheated once about a month ago. Ate a tiny slice of pecan nut pie. I was hungry and the temptation was just too much for me. I didn't have any symptoms but I wasn't tempted to eat more of it - knew I was pushing my luck. So with me it looks like the quantity matters - did a gluten challenge about 6 months ago with 2 slices of bread and thought...

Thanks everyone for your advice! I am on the second week of the food diary - had a bad week last week but I ate a lot of rubbish. New start today. I went out and bought 2 books the weekend. Don't know if you get the TV program "You are what you eat" over there? Its by a Dr Gillian McKeith. She's a Holistic Nutritionist. I bought her books and...

Hi Lollie, Your comment about eating more meat is interesting. The few times I have tried to eat more meat I have felt great - lots of energy. Didn't notice any difference in BM's but I am going to try it again! I drink a lot of water and have done for the past 10 years. In fact I used to drink too much water and ended up with dehydration. I...
