  1. This works great as long as you own a food processor.. one quart of milk ( soy milk will do) one pound of carrots honey patience Grate the carrots into a very fine mesh and put into a wok and add the milk. Boil away all the milk..Takes about an hour..In the last 15 minutes start adding in some honey and keep stirring..It will form into a foam as you...
  2. Two things.. First, has anyone hear done the mangosteen routine? My niece is on it and claims that it works wonders for her..The drawback is that it is expensive and 4 bottles will cost $115...The minute she goes off of it she has troubles. She is one with diarrhea symptoms while I get constipated..Maybe it works for her. My wallet hopes it won't cure...
  3. I do NOT want to scare you or anything like that..but according to one list of symptoms I pulled off of one site spontaneous abortions is one of the listed symptoms and my niece has had 7 of them.. Take into consideration that the celiac disease gene is VERY dominant in my family. Most of us didn't find out until recently...
  4. It is up and down with me and today is way better than yesterday..I ate Egg Beaters without reading the label a few days back...Argh! I sure took that for granted.. My bowel obstructs when things are bad and it is the equivalent of having appendicitis..So my days or weeks can fluctuate between minus 100 to plus 3 or 4.. I have had only one obstruction...
  5. The medicine ball is about the size of a basketaball only a little larger..It is inflated but not to the extent that a basketball is.. When I lie down I put it against the side of my body right next to my hip in contact with my body. Think of a grape being squeezed..As I turn my gut grips the ball and I climb on it partially while the ball is held still...
  6. I noticed a lot of posts here seem to deal with treating an attack with taking something internally..What I do when I have an attack and my small bowel goes into a partial or full obstruction is to stop taking anything internally at all, including the skipping of the next meal or even going 24 hours without eating.. I get on the floor on one side and place...
  7. This morning I had one orange and a cantalope..I'll do stretching and a workout then I'll have boiled prunes and cherries with pineapple.. I eat fruit only two days in a row and then I try quinoa flakes with banana on the third day..There is a gluten-free granola from the health store that I get and it tastes chewier and better than the wheat-loaded granola...
  8. Turtle, You might try Food for Life's Brown Rice Bread. Toast it and no bread can match it. Van's makes a flax waffle that you can toast. Amy's makes a number of burritos, enchaladas, and other dishes that are gluten free. They also make a pizza with rice crust if you can take rice at all. White rice is out for me.
  9. I don't quite understand why someone should go to the doctor for diagnosis. Every time I went to them I got nothing but shrugs and " irritable bowel syndrome" like everyone else here..When I threw all my symptoms at them, they just called it "normal" and a part of getting old..Besides, I passed my physicals, didn't I? By knowing that my niece was diagnosed...
  10. I miss my soy burgers as well but they have tons of gluten..Meat just doesn't go through that easily. It goes down into my stomach and doesn't make any noise or bloating, but constipates me... I do eat fish but still am searching..I have only been gluten free about two or three weeks and it is still early for me...still adjusting. Any word on hummus?...
  11. I'm new here but not new to the disease..only recently did I realize that I have had a wheat/gluten intolerance for the last 56 years..I was convinced that this world was trying to deliberately poison me with every meal I ate and doubling over from all of them..Two bowel obstruction surguries and scare tissue to add to the problem..It is good to find out...
