For a gluten free, flour free carrot cake, do as they do in India. 1.) One pound of carrots 2.) One quart of milk 3.) Raisins (any amount) 4.) Chopped walnuts 5.) Honey Use a food processor and turn the carrots into as fine a mesh as...

I stopped eating all flour and that did the trick.

ARCHIVED How Do You Nurse Your Gut Back To Health
blueshift replied to Bette's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Every celiac does not react the same way to foods. You are going to have to experiment..In my condition...celiac with past bowel obstruction surgeries, I can become constipated..unless I eliminate ALL flour from my diet... I find east Indian food to agree with my gut quite well... I have cantelope and orange for breakfast...I mix either curry or garam... -
I get a feeling in my stomach area as well...However, it is coming from the colon. When the small bowel gets cramps and does any twisting or obstructing, it will not be felt in the colon first, but up in that same area that you feel is a stomach problem.. Water gives my cramps and can twist my gut up really big time. I can only drink water in the early...

ARCHIVED Are Apples Gf?
blueshift posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Apples and apple juice both give me a problem. Anyone here have trouble from them and are they gluten-free or not? I also get indigestion from water..Is this cekiac related? -
She isn't the only one. A nutritionist I know had me hold a package of wheat to my stomach with one hand while my other arm was outstretched to my side..He told me to try and resist the pressure he put on my outstretched arm. All he did was lightly tap it and it felt as though my shoulder was being torn off. It was painful! We then repeated the experiment...

Oh no! Are you guys all telling me that my urinary frequency is likely due to gluten as well? What a drag! That means my appointment for September 1 with my urologist could be a waste? How long does it take for the symptoms to subside?

ARCHIVED What Is Your Ethnic Origin?
blueshift replied to Emme999's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Solid Danish on my mother's side..A mutt on my father's side. He has an English name but it is all the Danish blood that has the gut problems... Our family doctor's name was Nielsen and we had to go to him simply because he was Danish, never minding the fact that he was blind in one eye and looked just like Igor.. -
I am curious to know if anyone here has had bowel obstruction surgery along with being a celiac. I have scar tissue issues that add complications to the situation and am looking for inputs from others with the same problem...I can't seem to find any forum where post surgical scar tissue coping is discussed. It causes my gut to re-obstruct several times each...

ARCHIVED Top Three Worst Gf Products
blueshift replied to anerissara's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As for me, the worst gluten-free food is flax crackers. I can't stand them..Tree of Life's brown rice bread toasted tastes great and so does Kinnickinnic's tapioca bread but I think all flours might be bothering me since my gut seems to obstruct a day after I have had any..like right now in fact. -
ARCHIVED My Diet Is Not Like Most Of Yours
blueshift replied to coin-op's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Some of the posts in this thread are really interesting..like a flower garden of varieties of colors, you have all put some nice interesting new looks at things. Sometimes it is the combination that can make a big difference as well as what I eat. In the moring I eat mostly nuts and raw fruits..cashews and a peach and some grapefruit this morning...but... -
cdford, Thanks for the information. These comments about soy might be worth looking into on my part since I was a vegetarian for years and downed soy products by the tons. I have even noticed a reaction to soy milk I have been getting that I may have falsely attributed to something I ate prior to drinking it down.

A couple of things need to be mentioned here.. First, the brain fog is being dealt with very well in my case because of an experiment that I have tried and it is working out great.. The following experiment was suggested to me by an M.D. who runs a health store in my area and he is going to be getting me the paper work of the scientist who first discovered...

Are there any fish foods that we are not supposed to eat? I'm not concerned about breaded fish. I am aware of that danger. What I am curious about is eating salmon or catfish..Are there some species that our bodies cannot tolerate?

Have any of you ever heard of mangosteen? My niece uses it and swears by it. A part of me thinks that it is snake oil, coming with claims to cure every disease on the planet..But, who knows? Maybe it works for some of us..? What do you all think?

Well, I think I got this right..It should be in my signature showing that I live near Chicago..There are a lot of good stores near me..I am very fortunate for that.
-
There's a lot of good substitutes but some food that I always ate doesn't have any wheat or gluten in it all..I was never a fan of the so-called American junk diet. East Indian food is one example and there is a buffet in walking distance from me that I cater to at least once a week..Curry is not the only thing that they have..the incredible number of...

ARCHIVED Feeling Worse Before Feeling Better -
blueshift replied to Emme999's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Michele, I'd say that I have been gluten-free the same amount of time and I have to confess that I didn't quite understand what depression really meant until it hit..I thought maybe it was something like Cub fans feel every fall. If you pick up V.S. Ramachandran's "Brief Tour of Consciousness" you can peer into the inner workings of the brain..He also... -
ARCHIVED Severe Mental Symptoms
blueshift replied to Magdeliscious's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
For depression and energy I recommend the following gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free powder by Green Foods..It is called Green Magma. One tablespoon mixed with 8 ounces chilled water at least 2 hours after any meal (preferrably first thing in the morning) or 20 minutes before any meal. Twice a day. It does not take effect for 24 hours but when it kicks... -
It seems all the detectives here hit it on the head..I reconfirm with the above posts that Mi-Del makes the oreo and that Kinnickinick makes the doughnuts.. There is another issue raised here concerning overeating and I like tarnalbarry's suggestion.. Another one is this concerning mixing any fiber powder and water.. If you read the instructions they...

I hate to make things worse, but there is also a set of frozen glazed doughnuts that have anything that Dunkin Donuts ever made backed off the map..Both chocolate or vanilla (well White anyway) is available..They have NOT run out of that and I will be picking some up tomorrow.. I eat them while they are frozen and they are awesome..

ARCHIVED Looking For Emergency Cure
blueshift replied to katie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Relieve the pain with a medicine ball. Lie down on the floor when you do this and put the medicine ball on your left side after a meal or right side hours later. Place it above the hip and beneath the rib cage and then turn and squeeze the ball like a grape with your gut and rock it a little. You should feel it breaking up a touch.. Also, lying right on... -
I KNEW I was gonna get a response to that post and I won't be surprised if a dozen more come rolling in.. The wrapping they came in is history and so is the other wrapping that I tore off the other package last week but I will be going to the health store tomorrow and see if they are getting any more in..I don't remember the name of the company offhand...
-
I simply tell anyone that I meet that my emotions might get too wrapped up while I am in a lot of company. In that very enjoyment I might accidentally grab something to eat, forgetting to ask the waitress or waiter whether or not soy sauce or teriyaki sauce was used in the cooking.. So I give them a warning that my life is like a hyperbolic curve, coming...

Made the same mistake myself..I think our bodies are just starving for some reason..trying to get the nutrition denied for great periods of time. What is worse, there now exists a gluten- free version of Oreo cookies and they have a ton of fiber in them! That gives us an excuse to indulge more than ever! They are even crunchier and better tasting than...
