  1. I think part of it is that gluten-free is kind of becoming a fad diet for people who don't need it or just want to seem more "natural". And that kind of downplays the people whoa re truly affected by it. Not that this is any reason for words like that. I probably would be going crazy if I heard things like that on a regular basis. This is definitely...
  2. That looks ssoooo good. The recipe is going into my list of foods to try after I finish the elimination diet.
  3. This is my third full day of doing an elimination diet, (I say 3rd full day because I started with dinner, not breakfast) and I am so bloated feeling. Almost more than I've ever felt before. Does this happen when your body is getting rid of all the contaminants? Or is something else causing it? I know I'm only a few days in, but I'd still like to know...
  4. Oh my god, that totally sounds possible. I've never heard of it before. It sounds very odd. It's caused by your allergies, but can get worse over time if you ignore your allergies? So if you learn all your allergies and avoid them can the esophagus tightening reverse? I'll definitely look into that. Thanks for the info.
  5. That's totally awesome! Every win is a great win.
  6. Wow, this is one of those times where you can tell whoever devised that setup doesn't know enough about the issues relating to it. Is there anyway to start some sort of awareness that this may not be the best way to handle the labeling?
  7. Wow, three days. Every time I get more information this process of discovering intolerance's seems like it's going to take longer and longer. I'm doing this super slow and am eating very few items in the beginning so that I can catch ANYTHING that bugs me. Especially after a few comments it seems like I might need to really pay attention to spices too...
  8. In general it's cheaper than a lot of natural food places. But it truly depends on what your buying, some items are better priced than others. But overall, good prices.
  9. @mushroom : Thanks, I'll keep the brand in mind. Most of my spices seem good since I don't have many blends or seasonings. I guess know it's watching for spice blends added to things. @Bubba's Mom : Yes, that's my fear. That not only do I have gluten intolerance, but something else. Sometimes it just feels like EVERYthing bugs me. But I'll look for...
  10. So it's not a naturally occurring thing? (besides blue cheese) It's just a thickener? Good to know! I was going to go crazy if it was a natural thing. Thanks everyone!
  11. I came across something online saying that some dairy products may contain gluten. Sour cream, yogurt, and the softer cheeses were said to possibly contain gluten. Now this was on a not necessarily fully trust worthy site that I saw in passing, and I haven't really been able to find anything about gluten in dairy. So I just wanted to know if this had...
  12. Oh man, SPICES might even bug people? Wow, I'll add that to the list of things I need to test I guess... That could be an issue with a few things actually, so thank you for the tip. How did you find out if a spice bothered you? I can't imagine eating it alone as a test. I guess adding it to things you know don't bug you?.. Hmm..
  13. Wow, that's a letdown, I love Trader Joe's. Thank you so much though! I'll have to look into those brands and other non-Trader Joe's brands.
  14. Does anyone know if there's a place that lists which vitamins carried at Trader Joe's might have gluten or soy containing casings or ingredients? Or does anyone happen to know which are okay? I want to include some vitamins during my elimination diet but most of them seem to at least have some sort of soy in the ingredients list. Any direction or help...
  15. Thanks to both of you for your thoughts! It's interesting to know that it could be a brand of something that affects me, not necessarily just the food. That seems like it's possibly more likely in the case of turkey than anything else. I'll have to experiment once I start adding foods back in. The main thing I hope is that the foods that most often...
  16. Okay, first, this is my first post here and it is going to be LONG. So if you read all of it, thank you! Halfway though highschool I started coughing when I would eat food, usually bread/wheat related items. This didn't happen when I was younger ( but on a side note, I've always had a slow digestive system, often getting constipated, and I got acne at...
