  1. To the poster with kiddo who had pos blood test but neg biopsy- did your GI doc suggest going gluten-free or you decided to take that route due to symptoms? I am ticked that my GI is telling us our 7 year old does not have celiac, even though I have it and she has elevated tTG testing at 78.20. I am getting an opinion of another pediatric GI that has a speciality...
  2. You will learn quickly to always read your labels, always! Most frozen veggies are just the veggie, was there any seasoning in that particular broccoli? I have never seen that before on frozen veggies, just be sure to avoid any cheese sauces, or seasonings and season yourself, steaming them gives the best flavor and texture I think. My fave chicken broth...
  3. I sit down on my sofa, with my own Talenti gelato---- now THAT is ice cream!!! And safe at that
  4. I wanted to post her pathology info that I got today: Final Diagnosis: A. Esophageal biopsy, no diagnostic abnormality. --- Three white fragments. B. Gastric biopsy, no diagnostic abnomality. ----stomach, one tan fragment. C. Small bowel biopsy, no diagnostic abnormality. ---Six tan fragments measuring together 0.6 x 0.2 x 0.1 cm. Microscopic...
  5. I see where you are coming from- I am not worried about the inconvenience of putting her on a gluten-free diet, in fact she is totally OK with it and we talked to her prior to the endoscopy about it. My point was just that I'm in a place where I have to watch every bread crumb or contamined food- if I need to be strict with her in that way as well, I need...
  6. Update: Normal biopsies. The pediatric GI said to me, she "could" have latent celiac, and will likely develop full blown celiac at some point, or it's a false positive blood test (a false positive in a child whose mother has celiac and she has elevated tTG??) I asked him about her high tTG level and he said he would retest blood every couple years...
  7. UPDATE: Normal biopsy. I am sure many of you understand my mixed emotions. Confused, overwhelmed, glad she does not have internal damage, relieved she may not have celiac, but confused about her tTG number being elevated and my GI telling me not to change her diet at this time. He feels she could develop it at any time down the road, that she could be...
  8. I apologize because I did post on the kids section as well, but I am so overwhelmed and don't have anyone to talk to! I was diagnosed with celiac almost 5 months ago (after 3 years of bloating as primary symptom), via celiac panel and then biopsy confirmed. We just had both kids tested with a pediatric GI, although no major symptoms for them we just...
  9. My pediatrician suspected autoimmune because myself and hubby both have an autoimmune disorder- she was screened for JRA last year with normal results, had all normal CBC, counts and various labs that my pediatrician ran. She went on the premise that if the joint pain was random, likely activity related, but I was ok with that since it wasn't yet persistent...
  10. Decided to start a separate topic, my 7 year old had her endoscopy yesterday and did just great. He did not see aything that stuck out at him, but took several biopsies, including from stomach and esophogus which I had no idea he was doing- what does that have to do with celiac, I understand the intestines to be the affected area. At any rate, no redness...

My hubby went gluten-free when I had my endoscopy and began the diet I never asked him to, it was just something that made sense to us. He has automimmune because he has psoriasis and joint pain from that (psoriatic arthritis) and his rhemutologist actually suggested eating less/no grains to him as a treatment plan to decrease inflammation. So it all timed...
  12. She is having her endoscopy on Wednesday and I am growing anxious and nervous, wondering if I am making the right choice- given her elevated numbers and my having celiac, on one side it seems silly to put her under anesthesia to "See" it but, my hubby thinks it's a good idea just to KNOW and be able to see that damage, if there is any, and know where she...
  13. I have my eye on some sublingual B12, the methyl version-- they have a few different varieties, 1mg, 5mg, etc- the one that is 5mg has 400mcg of folic acid which I am low on. The larger dosage one (brand is Source Naturals) is a combo of methyl and dibencozide B12 which are supposedly the bioactive forms. Is the 5mg too much, the directions say one daily...
  14. Oh wow, I am hoping my 7 year old's irrational and emotional outbursts are from gluten!! She also goes a long while sometimes with no issues- but the past 3-4 nights has complained of joint pain in her ankles and knees, also had a headache above her eyes off and on for a week or so. These things come and go, last year we actually had her tested for...
  15. What sort of digestive enzymes do you use? Just curious, something I was looking at. Thanks!
  16. Is there a reason you did not have a celiac blood panel? Best way to figure out is to go that route, and have an endoscopy, especially if you have had stomach issues that long- there could be a great deal of intestinal damage.
  17. I already take 4000 units of D3 daily!
  18. She needs an upper endoscopy asap to biopsy for celiac disease--- children and adults both can have negative blood results for celiac, but a hugely positive biopsy confirming the diagnosis. My 7yo just got positive blood results (awaiting biopsy) and had joint pain about a year ago that persisted, her pediatrician tested her for JRA, and a few other...
  19. Wow, that gives me lots of hope!!
  20. Does anyone have suggestions? Also, what form of B12 should I get? I have heard the methyl B12 is better absorbed and bioactive, I have heard to use sublingual. Thanks!
  21. No, we are obviously going to feed her gluten-free regardless of a biopsy- I would NEVER let her continue a gluten diet with positive blood labs- with the fact I have celiac myself!! My point I guess was is there any other REASON to scope her? I had suspicions the minute I learned I had celiac myself- my first thought was getting my kids tested. It is a relief...
  22. Hi there, I've been around for awhile now since my own celiac diagnosis about 4 months ago. I just got the results on my 7yo's celiac panel today, and she has "elevated" levels so he wants to do the endoscopy- all this time I had said that if either of the kids tested positive in their blood testing, I would not bother with an endoscopy, because I have celiac...
  23. I have been gluten free almost 3 months, I just had a vitamin panel done to check iron, folate, vitamin D, B12 and thyroid panel. She told me at my follow up today that I am only slightly low on iron and folate----I was NOT low 6 momths ago so she says this is not an absorption/celiac issue, but probably due to cutting all grains. She gave me a lab order...
  24. I just miss a crunchy Kit Kat every once in a great while!
  25. What you are descrbing was my only sypmtom when I persisted for 3 years about it- I got my celiac diagnosis. Bloating (for me, up high), fullness and pressure, gas, cramping and looking and feeling like I am 9 months pregnant- just overall feeling icky as you describe! That did go away since being gluten-free, however I do not feel as well yet as I expected...
