Oh my!! This is a symptom of mine that I have been thinking I am crazy over. I get sharp pains up inside, only way to describe it-- along with pressure sometimes. My primary doc ruled out UTI and didn't really have an answer to my symptoms but after learning of my celiac diagnosis, I thought it could be related to inflammation so I am watching my body to...

ARCHIVED Drs Do Not Want To Test My Chidlren- I Am Positive.
Mom-of-Two replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have the pediatrician well visit tomorrow so I plan to ask her why we can't just have the panel done there-- the med center is 2 mins up the road where our docs are, lab, xray, everything. Yet we will have to drive to the childrens hospital which is about 40 minutes. However, we will do whatever it takes. Their appt is April 2nd so not toonlong of a wait... -
ARCHIVED Explain Positive Biopsy In English :)
Mom-of-Two posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I already knew I was celiac based on hugely positive blood panel, I had the biopsy done and the nurse gave me results over the phone basically saying that yes, my gut says I have celiac. (not a surprise) I finally got the actual copy of the report in the mail, and thought someone could interpret. Just curious! Diagnosis: Duodenum, biopsy -- variable... -
ARCHIVED Green & Black Organic Chocolate
Mom-of-Two replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Weird, checked the label and it states contains milk, manufactured on equipment that also processes peanuts, tree nuts, and soy. There is nothing about wheat on the label. -
ARCHIVED Green & Black Organic Chocolate
Mom-of-Two posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We love the 85% dark chocolate by Green & Black Organics, I have been gluten free about 10 days and haven't had an issue with it, it states that wheat traces could be possible due to shared equipment but no gluten in the bar itself. I emailed the company and got a very vague response that did not answer my question. Should I try to find a gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Drs Do Not Want To Test My Chidlren- I Am Positive.
Mom-of-Two replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We will be seeing the pediatric GI in a month who will run the celiac panels on them both I am anxious about it but will feel so much better to have answers one way or the other. -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed ( I Think?) 4 Year Old..... Confused Mama
Mom-of-Two replied to Jodie8's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes! At least as an adult, I am having some mood changes making the gluten transition (about a week now). I believe it is common. Gluten can have an addictive like quality on your system, so it is natrual to have it seem worse before it gets better once going gluten free. Did your son have the full celiac panel? Was he positive on the endomysial antibody... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms In Toddlers
Mom-of-Two replied to Alikae's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Have the kids blood tested. My kids are being tested with celiac blood panel next month through pediatric GI, if they happen to be positive, I will not put them through the scope, as I have celiac, and a positive blood test for them would be all the info needed. I do not know if the GI does gene testing for celiac but I will be asking, even though it... -
ARCHIVED Probiotics
Mom-of-Two replied to dmb2151's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Interestingly, I have been giving my kids both Culturelle probiotic (adult capsules opened and dumped into food/drink) for over 3 years now, I use them for immunity, keeping them regular, etc. I was taking them before getting my celiac diagnosis, and then my primary dr recommended a different one by Renew Life-- still thinking I had IBS. I have two boxes... -
ARCHIVED Cinnamon To Treat Stomach Problems?
Mom-of-Two replied to desperateforhealth's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I would hang in there....I was recently diagnosed and only been gluten free a week, but my GI has me being re-tested/follow up in 3 months because she says I need at least that long to notice any changes. If after a few months you really don't see much difference, then begin investigating. I agree with gallbladder, in fact my GI suspects my gallbladder is... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Confirmation Today
Mom-of-Two replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I should be getting a detailed report with copies of everything in the mail, I talked to the nurse today who explained everything in detail, but I will like getting the results in print. -
ARCHIVED Drs Do Not Want To Test My Chidlren- I Am Positive.
Mom-of-Two replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I actually researched GI docs with a specialty in celiac before choosing, I go to the Cleveland Clinic. I am absolutely going to have them blood tested, if negative follow up as the pediatric GI suggests. That is interesting about the behavioral changes. My daughter is 7.5 and full of attitude and nasty moods the past few months. Assumed this was normal... -
ARCHIVED Drs Do Not Want To Test My Chidlren- I Am Positive.
Mom-of-Two replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have a well visit for my 4 yo next week, I will be getting referral for GI then....my biopsy results came back today "remarkable" damage consitent with celiac, 8-10 biopsies taken. I can't know that and NOT have my own children tested! Yes, my GI highly suggests having a gluten-free home, just easier, my DH is happy to be on board since he feels better... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Confirmation Today
Mom-of-Two posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I guess not a huge surprise, my biopsy results showed "remarkable" damage/changes consitent with celiac. My blood panel was hugely positive so she expected to see these results, but somehow "remarkable" damage makes it feel more real to me I am quite shocked that I do not have significant vitamin deficiencies, even my iron is normal. I am grateful,... -
ARCHIVED Getting Better All The Time:)
Mom-of-Two replied to alex11602's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That is AMAZING!!! It is awesome that you got a diagnosis at an early age, like you said, far easier to just make gluten free foods the norm for her, she never knew anything was different. My kids are 7 and 4, and while I am waiting to find out if they are celiac (I just found out 6 weeks ago for myself) I find it extremely overwhelming to think about... -
ARCHIVED Drs Do Not Want To Test My Chidlren- I Am Positive.
Mom-of-Two posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So, I found out I am celiac about 6 weeks ago, I had a biopsy done on Feb 8 that I do not yet have results for- based on my bloodwork my GI (who specializes in celiac) says I am absolutely celiac, did the biopsy to confirm. She is very good at the celiac stuff, she is great, but in regard to having my kids tested, she did not think it was necessary at... -
ARCHIVED No Diarrhea, No Celiac?
Mom-of-Two replied to Kimberly 88's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So sorry you are not getting the support and answers you need While I have only been at the quest for answers myself for 2 years, I found it very confusing and frustrating to have drs tell me it was one thing and not persist with more testing, etc. I went back this last round and basically told my dr, I KNOW something is wrong, I want to figure out... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Tomorrow-What To Expect?
Mom-of-Two replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks! I figure if I still have any issues tomorrow, I will call back- I feel fine otherwise, so I think it's pretty normal due to the sedation, air in the intestines, and lack of eating yesterday- it started after I ate something this morning, and again after I ate something this afternoon. My doc doesn't care what the biopsy says, because my blood... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Tomorrow-What To Expect?
Mom-of-Two replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know that my GI doc said she would be filling me up with air- to see, so is it normal to have some diarrhea, pressure in the belly today? The nurse will be calling later to check on me, so I was going to ask her as well. I do not feel nauseous today just icky in my belly, and have had a few bouts of diarrhea which I assume is all normal?? -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Tomorrow-What To Expect?
Mom-of-Two replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks! It went fine- although I was worthless the whole day and evening yesterday, thankfully my hubby took charge of the kids and dinner, I felt woozy whenever I stood up and didn't eat at all, I went to bed at 8pm though and feel worlds better today, just a mild sore throat from the tube I suppose. I believe she took 6-8 biopsies, the stomach and... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Tomorrow-What To Expect?
Mom-of-Two posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My endoscopy with biopsy is tomorrow morning, I was just feeling nervous and wondered what I should expect, since so many of you have been through it! I went through major abdominal surgery in 2007 with a ruptured appendix and resulting septic shock, 7 day hospital stay and ICU-- needless to say, I think I am a bit scarred about the whole anesthesia and any... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Without Gastrointestinal Symptoms
Mom-of-Two replied to darthluke12694's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I found out I had celiac a few weeks back via hugely positive blood panel-- my only complaint was upper abdominal bloating/pressure, gas pressure and cramping off and on, nothing interfering with daily activities, and no diarrhea or any other bowel symptoms. It was intermittent to the point I would forget about it and then when I got a bad episode of it before... -
ARCHIVED Pondering Skipping Biopsy...
Mom-of-Two replied to glutenfreejd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My bloodwork was also super positive, I see the GI this Thursday and am also thinking I may not do a biopsy. If you are feeling better, I would hate to see you reintroduce gluten sounds like you have your answer! -
In response to your concern that cutting gluten even if you don't have celiac would be harmful-- people don't need gluten. Many places of the world don't eat wheat, remember. Areas of the world eat primarily rice, some primarily corn, etc. and the huge overuse of wheat is hugely American. You need fiber if you take out your grains, which can be attained from...

ARCHIVED Negative For Celiac Despite Biopsy And Prior Positive Bloodwork...confused!
Mom-of-Two replied to rhyanen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I honestly wouldn't worry about getting a diagnosis, rather keep him on a gluten-free and casein free diet, as it is very beneficial for autistic kiddos. I worked with some young ones who did fantastic on gluten-free diet, and then casein removed improved them even more- in addition, some good probiotics for autistic children can be very beneficial at keeping...
