  1. Its another case of us being discriminated against. Why are you telling me not to stand up for celiacs?
  2. celiac is considered an "invisible disability" by the ADA
  3. This article is another example Open Original Shared Link
  4. Not saying I'm owed anything, just want to be treated equal. Maybe you have never experienced discrimination first hand for having an illness, but it does exist and it isn't right and I am not the type of person that will sit down and shut up about it.
  5. Last time I checked celiac disease was approved as a disability. Yes I know its an autoimmune disorder. Who's rights am I violating by preparing and taking my own food with me. The answer is nobody's!
  6. So when does it become discrimination do you believe. By the way my post isn't just about this one incident I had but a recognization of discrimination against people with food allergies in all shapes and forms such as demeaning portrayals of celiacs. What I am saying is to start speaking up and speaking out against this. I'm sure all of us experience this...
  7. I believe there may be a case here. It just reminds me of the arguments against the whole disability movement, prior to every business being forced to be retrofitted to allow the disabled access to those places. I don't believe every place has to legally provide a gluten free option, what I am saying, and what I believe is a violation of my right is to deny...
  8. In our case I think its discrimination. Under the Americans with disabilities act. Open Original Shared Link
  9. Don't you think people should be educated about our problems to understand this. It's not right.
  10. I'm not saying they have to provide us with food at all or gluten free food at all. However, if I want to bring in my own food and take care of myself who's rights am I violating by doing that. Nobody. That's where my problem lies. Imagine a world in which every single restaurant adopted these policies and there wasn't any reliable gluten free food served...
  11. Not have a right to food at a baseball game? If that's the case then we shouldn't have the right to have water or bathrooms for that matter either. Why are they forced to have to provide that to everyone then?
  12. It's ok, I'll just be going to more giants games. They have gluten free beer there and then I dont have to go to Oakland. It's a win win situation.
  13. I did plan ahead. They flat out told me no we can not accommodate you. That's why I am so upset about that situation.
  14. There was a similar thing that happened at pizza hut where a woman brought in mcdonalds or something so one of her kids could eat. They were asked to leave. She ended up suing them and I believe she won. The fact of the matter is that it is a vilation of your rights under the Americans with Disabilities act.
  15. I asked them ahead of time and was pretty much told no exceptions to their rules. I'm sorry but its just ridiculous and was a violation of my rights.
  16. As you guys can tell I'm really fired up about this. lol. The way some places treat us is just wrong.
  17. We need to start taking a firm stance against this type of behavior. It is intolerable. I'm not sure what to do though aside from start suing the crap out of people.
  18. Has anyone here ever been discriminated against for being gluten free. I feel as though everywhere I go whenever I mention my problem I sometimes get the rolling eyes in the back of the head treatment. I was even recently denied being able to bring in my own food to an event at an A's baseball game. Is this even legal? I am just disgusted and to the point...
  19. That sounds like a great idea and I would be willing to attend this if you make it happen. Is anyone else out there in our area that might want to begin meeting up monthly perhaps?
  20. So I am looking to make new friends in the Santa Cruz/San Jose area or nearby who have celiac because I think it would be great for the moral support. I'm also looking for some single gluten free ladies in the area. Lol. Let me know who is in this area and it would be great to meet you.
  21. I had a full thyroid panel which turned out fine. Also have had B12, folate, Vitamin D, and Magnesium levels checked, all were fine. I have tested negative for the celiac antibody test. I have symptoms that could be attributed to celiac though, and a weird rash that resembles dermatitis herpetiformis which has dissapeared since going gluten free. However...
  22. So you suffered depersonalization while you were sick too?
  23. I do not seem to notice a difference with soy. I have taken this out for a few days before and then reintroduced it and did not really notice a difference. I have however noticed a difference not chewing nicorette gum as I was chewing that stuff for over 2 years. I've only been off that for a month or so but I have noticed some improvement since going off...
  24. Hey guys. So it has been 7 months going gluten free. I was just wondering, is it normal for me to be feeling still kind of out of it a lot and generally feel tired and unmotivated most of the time. I have certainly improved a lot but I still feel as if I am living in a dream and nothing around me is real. Also I seem to be suffering still from depression...
  25. So I'm 4 months into the diet. I still have brain fog daily. It feels like I've been in a dream for over a year. Sometimes I still get pretty fatigued too. I also get these attacks where my heart feels weird and it feels like I can't breath right. I'm not sure if those are just panic attacks or what but I seem to be getting them daily now. I get very anxious...
