  1. Thanks you guys. I will try to get my blood sugar tested. For now, I mostly eat veggies and meat and eggs and plain yogurt etc. I only eat brown rice for grains, and don't eat sugar. But I will be extra-cautious of the simple carbs. I'll let you know when I get my blood sugar tested.
  2. I have been gluten free for 9 months now, but am still incredibly tired. I seem to feel a lot better right after I eat, but about 30-45 minutes later I crash again. I am urinating a lot, and seem hungry quite often. Does this sound like I might have diabetes or hypoglycemia? I don't know wether my symptoms fit either role... Help! Thanks!
  3. I haven't ventured far into the gluten-free packaged foods world... I'm scared! I mostly cook at home for myself. It sounds like Ener-G bread is horrid, but I like my rice bread... it's sweet! Maybe that's just me. I eat "Food For Life" bread. Brown Rice, Almond and Fruit, and Pecan and Fruit are all excellent (I think.) Worst thing I've had so...

    ARCHIVED Wendys

About Kraft products-- their products are labled... if it says Modified Food Starch, it will show in parentheses which modified foods they used... soyou can assume all Kraft products are gluten-free (sour cream included), unless otherwise noted.
  5. I have had numberous doctors appointments my whole life. I average two visits with various doctors per week. Luckilly, we have insurance, but the copays are expensive. I don't know about you guys, but I'm too sick to work and make money to pay for the doctors' stuff. It's one of those horrible situations! All I know is that if you need to see a doctor...
  6. About the no male thing... are there more women Celiacs than men, or is it that more women Celiacs like to blab about it? Does any one know? I'm female, if you were wondering...
  7. I'm in high school too... It's really hard when people are gobbling up pizza in front of you every day. I just bring my own thing and let my friends taste what they want. Trust me, it will get easier. I was diagnosed in Nov. 2004 and the first few months were horrible. Maybe this next school year will bring on more mature people around you... but kids will...

    ARCHIVED Protien Bars

"My allergies suck! (dairy, eggs, sesame) Any other ideas? " Hey, I have tried "Bumble Bars" which are dairy and gluten free. They may have sesame in them thought, but they have lots of fiber and 7-9 grams protien per 19-21 grams carbs. They're really good! They have flax seed which is really yummy. I hope that helps!
  9. Casnco-- I am seeing an acupuncturist for the first time next week! I have fatigue, headaches and stomach aches all possibly related to Celiac. I think it's a great idea. It stimulates the circulation and sends the bodies 'healing powers' to specific areas, which is great for getting your gut back in shape. Let me know how it goes, and I'll let you know!...
  10. julie5914-- I have had hypothyroidism since I was about 6, but my blood work's always fine. I get a goiter (the swollen neck) if I don't take medication for it. If you are worried, you may mention this to your doctor over the phone to cut down on med. bills. I don't exactly know why my thyroid's so weird, but when I take a low dose of synthroid, my neck...
  11. Thank you all so much. Sorry I didn't respond earlier... I have been out of town. I am going to see a neurologist in a couple of weeks to check out the stomach migrane possibility. Stephanie-- that's so interesting about the Seratonin! mlwaller-- I have done an elimination diet and have pretty much ruled out lactose intollerence (well, most intollerences...
  12. I have been sugar free for a while now. It was really hard at first, but I found this herb called Stevia (I'm also off of artificial sweeteners.) Stevia is a South American herb that's 100 times as sweet as sugar! It's awesome! I use it to make lemonade and sweeten plain yohgurt. Also, for the ice cream cravings, stevia, some raspberries and plain yogurt...
  13. Lisabp: Thank you so much for the testing information. It's really expensive, but I may be able to do it. If I do go through with the experiment, could I possibly email you to ask you for pointers? Thanks again! I'm glad your son is adapting better.
  14. I am a high school student that's going to do a science project on gluten-contaminating kissing, but I need to be able to test saliva for gluten. Where could I get this testing material? How does it work? Can a high school student do it? Thanks!
  15. Can open heart surgery cause this as well?
  16. When I get a really bad stomach ache (especially from gluten) I get horrible chest pains that hurt so bad I cannot breathe lying down. I think it's GI related. The pain starts in my stomach and moves up towards my chest and into my back. The GI doc hasn't been able to explain it to me. I had open heart surgery and have heart problems too... but I don't...
  17. I have just discovered this cool message board thing and I was wondering if there were any Celiacs out there with similar medical problems as me. I have: a VSD (ventricular septal defect) and had open heart surgery at age 11 right elbow congenitally dislocated (5 operations to fix) a benign tumor in my right tibia hypothyroidism... or so we think...
  18. Thanks every body! If I can find a wheat kit, I will use that... does any one know where to find them? Once I get the results, I will deffinetly pass on the information. Thanks again!
  19. Where in Central CA? I'm in Dixon Ca near Davis and Sacramento.
  20. I have been wondering about the transfer of gluten durning kissing, and have learned that it is a real problem, but there is not any research on it. I am interested in learning: how long after eating gluten to wait before kissing a gluten-free person what procedures should be done to speed up the process (brushing, drinking, etc.) what kinds of gluten...
  21. I'm sorry your family is being so stupid. I was diagnosed in November 2004, but my family's been pretty good about it. I would explain to them that gluten is not an allergy, but it's a POISON. The antibodies attack your system for months after each time gluten is digested. So, when your family tells you that there is gluten-free steak, and they're wrong...
  22. I had a full gall bladdar test done (actually, three) and they all said that my gall bladdar's fine. I haven't looked into pancreatitis. That's a good idea! Thanks!
  23. Thanks. I think I will ask for a fridge-- I hadn't thought of that. And peanut butter and rice cakes travel well... Thanks! Camila
  24. Thank you so much for your reply. The vomiting is not an issue... and I think the migranes are very similar to head migranes just in the stomach. I will find out more from a neurologist in a month or so. I have had my diet checked for gluten via a breath-hydrogen test. The GI doc says I'm doing well and that my villi are mostly back to normal, so Celiac...
  25. I called Taco Bell (not the same as Del Taco...) but I know that Celiacs can have pintos and cheese and bean tostadas. Other taco shells are contaminated by gluten. Camila
