  1. A GI specialist I talked with earlier this week told me he's unaware of any real benefits of bifidobacteria. Wheat fiber stimulates growth of bifidobacteria but very few gluten free grain fibers do. He also said to me that one scary aspect of having a high bifido count is that if the gut becomes highly permeable and bifido strains spill into the bloodstream...
  2. Can you link me to any of these references that highlight the bad properties of bifidobacteria? I know that foods higher in inulin like chicory when given in large doses are thought to automatically stimulate bifidobacteria to regenerate...
  3. When I was 8 years old my mom realized that something was wrong with both of us. I felt well most of the time but occasionally I would get severe stomach cramps. When I was really young this was only once every six months but as I got older and by the time I was 8 the frequency was once every few weeks. Whenever this happened I would be doubled over in...
  4. Is the 'die-off' effect considered a validated concept? I had 0 bifidobacteria on a recent stool test cdsa. Took a probiotic w/bifidobacteria in it for 2 months and still the reading was 0. Did you do a complete digestive stool analysis (cdsa) test?
  5. A bit about me... I was diagnosed with autism when young. I have mostly recovered through a long and tedious home program along with daily supplementation of Kirkman Super Nu Thera caplets. I'm 20 years old. I have been gluten free for > 10 years. I've had a healthy 10 years on the diet until about a year ago while I was away at university...
  6. Lots of people are in denial about it. They often don't "want to know". (sigh)
  7. Very intriguing about the Gastroenterologist! Would taking a B12 megadose supplement have the same effect as the injections? I take a B6 Megadose supplement (i.e. Kirkman Super Nu-Thera) which has some B12 but mostly 25 times the recommended daily value of B6. This apparently works well in some children with autism for genetic reasons. Does anyone know...
  8. Did the GI conduct the DGP gliadin peptide blood test?
  9. If you want the follow up testing to show that celiac disease is present, she will need to eat at least four (4) slices of wheat bread per day for at least six (6) weeks. If you decide that this is too much, then I would suggest hla-DQ celiac gene testing. If the EMA blood test comes back positive, it is extremely unlikely that she doesn't have celiac...
  10. She's had a few throughout her life but no fillings during or since pregnancy that I'm aware of. I had a filling when I was young on one of my 'baby teeth' due to a cavity a year before going gluten free but neither of us have really had any problems with our teeth since around the time we went gluten-free. Is there a correlation of some sort here? I...
  11. My mother had 4 miscarriages before I was born. Years later after my excruciating cramps and relative recovery from autism we both found we were sensitive to gluten. She has 2 celiac DQ2 gene copies and I have 1.
  12. Has he ever tried an a1 milk casein free diet? The evidence that A1 milk triggers type 1 diabetes is quite alarming, according to Devil in the milk.
  13. Yes I never thought about the cc issues associated with a kiss. I'll have to rethink how I go about things then too.
  14. That is why I am skeptical. She is a chiropractor, not a doctor. Here in Australia at WEHI insulin is believed to be the main trigger for type 1 diabetes once the autoimmune process is initiated. As far as they see it, insulin causes the immune system to destroy the insulin producing cells just like gluten causes the immune system to destroy the lining of...
  15. I think that a genetic test will be necessary for your daughter. Ask for celiac HLA-DQ testing. I personally recommend Quest but myceliacid has a self-test you can run at home. If her gene test is positive for celiac, since the blood test was positive, I would put her gluten free immediately.
  16. Is it just me or are girls generally more understanding than guys?
  17. I don' think the term 'celiac' needs emphasis. There are lots of food intolerances and allergies out there. Just tell your partner that you can't eat gluten.
  18. Has anyone here seen the info about a gluten free diet curing a boy's type 1 diabetes on Dr Vikki Petersen's blog? He's been off insulin for 20 months or something... Open Original Shared Link Personally, based on family experience, I think that all the gluten free diet did was prolong what is known as the 'honeymoon' phase. I believe he'll eventually...
  19. I have had warts on my feet for a long time and am gluten sensitive. Plantar warts are a pain. A lot of people who are sensitive seem to get odd viruses that won't go away more frequently. Very interesting.
  20. To me, it shouldn't be a problem for the dairy council as the A2 milk hypothesis seems to offer opportunity. Most people with type 1 diabetes seem to have intestinal damage (often from gluten) which in my opinion allows bcm7 from our A1 milk to slip through the 'permeable' duodenum into the bloodstream right by the pancreas. This to me seems to be how...
  21. Has type 1 diabetes ever occurred in the absence of gluten and dairy from birth?
  22. Is there a way to prevent them or get rid of them? And does that mean we're all infected with it?
  23. It's got to do with the blood brain barrier or something. Lots of stuff on it.
  24. Dr. Tom O'bryan talked about it in a video with undergroundwellness. I'll try and get the link.
  25. Also, I had autism when I was young, am gluten sensitive, still have some asd symptoms and have a leaky gut? Is there any such thing as leaky brain?
