  1. How old? My 7 year old, will eat a cookie if a teacher gives it to him. His legs will break out really bad and then I grill him what have you eaten. I know I have not given it to him, well, we usually trace it back to a friend or a teacher. I recently had a long talk with him about it is his body, and what he eats that will make his legs do that, and...
  2. It is like learning to walk again. I have let the house go just trying to learn in the past few weeks. I will not go into details on what has been going on with me. Except, I think I may have had this in the beginning of my going gluten-free last year. Right after a week of 2 birthdays and an anniversary, I had the flu, a 3 day flu, and then right afterwards...
  3. Yep. I tried. So there is rudeness everywhere. Strangers, Friends, and Family. Serenity, Courage, Wisdom. I cannot change his health or attitude, I can change mine.
  4. Well my father, responded as expected. My sister however, is listening. She plans to discuss with her doctor. We know how her doctor will probably treat it, but at least she knows now, and perhaps will read about it. My father would rather die than change his eating habits. This is a man who has pancreatitis, liver disease, heart disease, odd rashes...
  5. Mine too, but my kids always eat the emergency food. So, I shop twice a week and keep fresh things in the frige. There always smoothie ingredients and that will really energize you. Toast, almond butter, jam and green tea, I am ready to go again, and that is a FAST snack.
  6. There is always something around now, it may not be what I want, but there is something. Very few offensive foods left and I need to clean out the pantry again and remove whatever is still there. I left some things for kids, but kids should not have it either. I have found that sometimes when I am hungry, just something to nibble on, and then cup of tea...
  7. Not sure, French Fries? They are cooked separately from nuggets, I think, not sure. grilled chicken salad? Do they have croutons? Go to McDonalds website and look at the menu and check out the salads.
  8. That is why I use email to communicate with some family. You are so right!
  9. It only gets worse unless you address it, I went years like that. When I asked a doctor it was oh its just Pregnancy hormones, or after no more babies, its just perimenopause. Well, wasn't. See a doctor and get tested. Request the full tests as listed above. Even after a year without gluten my insides are still in havoc. I would like to go back and...
  10. That is why my father, sister and I have a strained relationship, that will be their attitude. We have different outlooks on life. Be who you are, that is all you can do. It took a lot for me to tell them what I have been going through and warn them to be checked. If you try to tell her, that is all you can do. Do it a couple of times, if you need to...
  11. My hubby and I are former foodies/recipe lovers, I was always trying to copy something we had while on a date night or vacation. I am just learning to be a foodie in a new way, and looking at my recipes differently. I made our favorite pain de beuf the other day and replaced several things, but it tasted just as good as before and held up just as well....
  12. I just shared with my family what I have been going through. By my family I mean my sister and father. We already have a strained relationship, I can just imagine the eye rolling they are doing as they read the lengthy mail I sent them. No we do not even talk anymore. So, yes, I can get it. I even worry about restaurants and friends treating me that...
  13. Well that is a good questions how long does it take? Does it get worse each time, etc. I do appreciate your answers, I am an eager pupil, it seems the only way to get through this is to ask questions and learn and maybe I will end up healthier than ever in my life. No Gluten No Dairy No Alcohol No Caffeine No vices left I have to be healthier...
  14. ok, quiet house, kids are playing, husband is at work, laundry is started. Frequent small meals. Avoid eating/drinking within 2-3 hours of going to bed (that one is hard for me, I like to go to bed early and I like tea before bed) Avoid lying down or straining/bending after eating, Avoid tight fitting clothing Avoid high fat meals and decrease fat...
  15. I was negative on the H Pylori, but he saw reason to test me for it. And yes there is more to the diet, I was just trying to give a fast answer yesterday, I have kids and am still trying to absorb it all. No spicy, no sweet, no alcohol or caffeine. I am getting the wedge. The doctor wanted me to put blocks under the bed and my husband was concerned about...
  16. Thanks, just looked, I will get one. It looks easier than elevating the head of my bed, safer too. Blocks under the bed seemed like an accident ready to happen in my opinion. Why would a doctor recommend such a thing?
  17. No alcohol, coffee, caffeine, refined sugar, chocolate, that part really hurts.
  18. I will share it afterwhile, it is not very different, mostly high protein, veggies, no process, etc. what most of us are already doing. I need to read through it again to share it properly.
  19. He did not use the Letters spelled out like that, he called it Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity. Told me that I am sensitive to a point that I could become Celiac, but do not test as Celiac. So, that is what went into the computer on me. New to this, so I do not know if its the norm or not. Prilosec, Gaviscon, already taking Florastor and TruFlora...
  20. I think you are making a smart move. My test today said no celiac sprue identified, that I am a NCGI ( actually I think the word used was Sensitivity but I think they are the same) Explained to me that, if I continued to eat Gluten products I could end up being Celiac. I have not been eating Gluten products for the past year, only occasional incidents...
  21. Here we go. Peptic Duodenitis Chronic inactive gastritis in Stomach in andrus, body, and fundus Acute esophagitis with focal ulceration/fibrinopurulent exudate material Hiatal Hernia No specific features of celiac sprue identified. I was told to remain Gluten Free, Lactose Free and to begin anti reflux diet as well. I am to take Gaviscon and...
  22. Thanks. I understand. I think my kids may need the gluten-free as well that is why the whole house is gluten-free now, each has improvements in some part of their life or health. I needed to hear it. My husband understands it more now too. He was not very supportive before, he tried to be, but did not really get it, he gets it now. He is a sci...
