  1. Hi all - I'm hoping you can help me out. I was diagnosed with celiac disease last July. My daughter is 4 and my son is 11 months. I asked my pediatrician if my children should be tested for celiac disease, but he said it was not necessary as they are not showing any GI symptoms. Emma is a bright, outgoing child but has recently has had severe "meltdowns...
  2. Hey all -- I'm a vegetarian who dosen't eat meat or chicken and very rarely fish... I'm really struggling to find stuff that I like (I know, you are thinking, but you are a vegetarian!!! Vegetables are gluten free!!). I'm a strange eater and I used to live on pizza, a lot of breads, cereal, etc. Anyway - does anyone know of a gluten free veggie...
  3. Cereal desperation when the pickins are slim!!! I am SO TIRED of eating the same three cereals (cocoa pebbles, honey rice puffins, & rice crunch ems). It's comforting to know that other people are as obsessed about finding new gluten-free food as I am
  4. Ok, I was diagnosed with celiac in July of '05, so I'm still learning.... Is MSG ok or not? I thought it was off limits, however a friend's sister whose husband and son have celiac said that MSG is ok. HELP!! I've been avoiding everything with MSG in it (like Lipton Soup Onion Mix for dip) etc. I thought it was the culprit in making me sick...
  5. Hi Patti, I'm in Woolwich Township/Swedesboro, NJ. We are one exit away from Mullica Hill and about 10 mintues from the Delaware border. I'll let you know when I check out Mr. Ritts -- we are about 20 mintues from Philly now and I really want to see what kind of stuff they have. Do you attend any Celiac groups or anything? I was diagnosed...
  6. What fantastic news that there is gluten free pizza in Doylestown!!!! I'm originally from Washington Crossing, PA and have recently moved to South Jersey (about 15 mintues from Philly & Delaware). As for gluten free restaurants in Philly, I'm having a hard time finding anything. The closest I've found if PF Changs in Marlton (I'm thinking about...
  7. Hi celiac3270! Me too please!!! Would you please send it to chuckst@earthlink.net. You are fabulous! Thanks so much, Maureen
  8. Kate -- I see you are from Philly. I am moving to South Jersey (Swedesboro area in 2 weeks). Currently in the Princeton area. Do you know of any gluten free restaurants in Philadelphia? I found that PF Changs in Marlton, NJ offers a gluten free menu. Several restaurants in NYC and North Jersey, but I am still searching for some closer to my hometown...
  9. Thanks all. My dr did prescribe a Dexa Scan for bone density and prescribed Fosimax for osteoporosis due to the Celiac as well as ulcerative colitis (taking prednisone which can cause bone loss as well).
  10. Hi all - This thread cracked me up. I truly thought I was the only person analyzing every poop Here's my question -- I saw some comments about mucous and candida (sp?). I was diagnosed w/ Ulcerative Colitis when I was 8 months preggo (by sigmoidoscopy). But I wasn't getting any better and just found out that I have Celiac. Here's my question...
  11. Hi all - I've been (finally) diagnosed w/ celiac disease (and ulcerative colitis). I was wondering if anyone who was diagnosed went for additional testing to determine if there were other allergies to foods, etc. as well??? If so, what type of doctor did you see? I'm trying to research this disease as much as possible and am finding that there are...
  12. I do feel much better today -- I think I was just overwhelmed at the whole "celiac" lifestyle and all the things I need to change. I've mourned my pizza, hoagies, and tastycakes and am trying to move on From what I've read -- I know my villi in the intestines need time to heal but is there anything in the meantime that I can do to stop the D??? Sorry...
  13. Thank you SO MUCH to all that posted so quickly. It really does feel better to know that others have gone through this and survived I do have a question -- does everyone have to be so careful with the gluten -- ie pots & pans, cross contamination, shampoo, etc.? Not that I am wanting to continue being so sick, but I was wondering if there are various...
  14. Hi Everyone -- I am new to the message boards and am looking for some help/advice. I am a 32 year old mother of two (3 1/2n yrs and 3 months). I first became sick six months ago while I was pregnant. I have had severe D 10 - 12 times a day every day for the last six months (except when I was on a steroid for a few weeks). Three months ago I had a scope...
