ARCHIVED Got Results On My 3 Year Old
mommy2krj replied to justa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't think the response was meant to be too harsh. I think there is just a high frustration level here with doctors that either aren't clear on their meanings or that simply are uneducated about Celiac and NCGI. A lot of the people that respond here were sick for years and years and years before they finally found a doctor that thought to test them for... -
ARCHIVED Mental Health?
mommy2krj replied to LFitts's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My oldest daughter was that way too with having to be the best. After she started coming out of her shyness shell after a lot of coaxing throughout kindergarten...that is how she was too. If it was something she excelled at...strings, soccer, band...she kept at it, no problem. Girl can pick up an instrument and play it no problem but we tried to do a baseball... -
ARCHIVED New To All Of This....and Have Some Questions.
mommy2krj replied to mommy2krj's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sounds like you have a plateful too! We had to change his appointment because we ended up with strep but thankfully they were able to get us in rather quickly....only another two week wait instead of another month or two! So now we go in on July 3rd. Nothing like having to battle strep throat in the summer! I haven't been that sick in a long time! Ugh. ... -
ARCHIVED Negative For Dh.....experiences For Egd?
mommy2krj replied to wmramsel's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm sorry! I was hoping that the result would come back from the rash so you didn't have to do the scope! I wish I had advice but we don't have our scope until July 3rd for my little guy (6) and I have no idea what to expect really. I don't know if he's going to be in pain afterwards or not or even really how long we're going to be there from start to finish... -
ARCHIVED I Could Have Told Them That....
mommy2krj replied to wmramsel's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Awesome. I already dislike CVS...this is only going to add to it (even though I know it isn't their fault, they drive me nuts enough to make it their fault!) wonderful. I hope those results come in soon. That response would have driven me nuts. My offices usually tell me it should be here within so many days and if we haven't called you by this day...please... -
ARCHIVED I Could Have Told Them That....
mommy2krj replied to wmramsel's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Aggravating! Did they tell you how long it would be for the other test to come back? Sometimes, it's nice to be vindicated. Other times, while it's nice to be vindicated....it is also rather bittersweet. I've had my fill of doctors lately....and pharmacy people too. Heaven knows what we're going to have to go through with the people that work at CVS... -
ARCHIVED I Could Have Told Them That....

Always lovely when the doctors know what they're doing.........typed with extreme sarcasm. Hopefully the other, correct test, will come back with real information! -
ARCHIVED Mental Health?
mommy2krj replied to LFitts's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Before this withdrawl....did she have a lot of friends that she was always with or just one or two friends that she was always with? People person type of kid or normal not so much but still enjoys some of the group activities. I ask because my oldest son *15 yr old* started out as a people person when he was very, very young but by school age he was pretty... -
ARCHIVED Mental Health?
mommy2krj replied to LFitts's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
See, the aspirin thing I knew about...that's pretty much drilled into young parents' heads now. I was given aspirin as a kid too. All ground up and sprinkled on applesauce. Blech. Anyway....sorry to hijack the thread LFITTS! I hope you guys can figure things out with your daughter. I know being rural can make things so much more difficult. Heck, I'm not... -
ARCHIVED Chuck E. Cheese Has gluten-free Cheese Pizza And Cupcakes For Birthdays
mommy2krj replied to umsami's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Yeah, they partnered with a company so they order the pizzas from a dedicated facility and they come wrapped in special packaging that they can be baked in. They are brought to the tables still in said bag and they have a separate, disposable pizza cutter they use as well. I think it's awesome.....though I'm not a huge fan of Chuck E Cheese generally (at... -
ARCHIVED Mental Health?
mommy2krj replied to LFitts's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh...I wasn't disagreeing...just posting the info I found because it was news to me. I've used Pepto with 2 of my kids (who are 18 and 15) before with the doctor's knowledge/go ahead...when they were much younger. I wasn't being argumentative....I just hadn't ever been educated on that aspect of Pepto before. Good knowledge to have and now I know not to give... -
ARCHIVED Mental Health?
mommy2krj replied to LFitts's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had to go looking about Pepto having aspirin in it. Never heard that it did before! So here is what I found on their own website: The cause of Reye's syndrome is still not understood despite a tremendous amount of research. However, the Health Canada warning for aspirin and non-aspirin-containing products states, "Children and teenagers should not use... -
ARCHIVED Awww Man! :/
mommy2krj replied to mommy2krj's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks. We weren't able to get in for next week but we were able to get the following week so not too bad. I feel a little better today...hooray for penicillin! At least it's just my throat hurting a little today and not every joint in my body. Don't know which one was worse yesterday! So, we shall be patient another two weeks. Gives me extra time to... -
So, we were supposed to be going to get his biopsy tomorrow....but now we're not. Had to take him in for a strep test today....and get myself one too. He came back negative on the rapid test but I came back positive. The pedi gave him amoxicillan just to be safe since I came back with a positive. So...now the anestisiasologist (ok...I know I spelled that...

ARCHIVED Mental Health?
mommy2krj replied to LFitts's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't have any real advice since I am just starting down this road to recovery with my 6 year old son. I just wanted to throw in some big ((((hugs)))) to you and your daughter. It's never easy being different. Hopefully, you find the answer to her clinginess and she starts to break out of her shyness shell. My oldest daughter (18 years now) was painfully... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Test Results...now I Have Questions
mommy2krj replied to mommy2krj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for the well wishes! I still don't understand why a doctor would advise against people going gluten free (unless there is an ongoing problem and they're trying to test for it). So long as the people going gluten free are doing a whole foods way of doing it and not just swapping out junk for junk. I don't think many doctors really have a clue when... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Test Results...now I Have Questions
mommy2krj replied to mommy2krj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for the replies. I do plan on talking to the GI about the whole family. I'm curious what she has to say. Still waiting for the results for myself and my husband. Going to have to call on Monday to see if the results are in for his....they should be! I do plan on having the entire house go gluten free after the 19th. I've sat here and watched my... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Test Results...now I Have Questions
mommy2krj posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ok, so my youngest (6 year old) has already tested positive through blood work and we go for his endoscopy on the 19th. I don't have copies of his blood work results as they are with the docs in Madison and I didn't think to get them when we were down there last time. Now. I have had everyone in the house go in for blood work. Myself, my husband, 18 year... -
We are currently in the process of having everyone tested for Celiac's (after reading some of the stories here, I simply wasn't willing to take the chance that anyone in my family could have it without knowing it and since my youngest has tested positive.....) Anyway...I won't be surprised, really, if my results come back positive. Don't have any real stomach...

ARCHIVED Quick Question About Endoscopies And Being Sick...
mommy2krj replied to mommy2krj's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks...that's kind of what I figured. I'm really hoping this just gets through his system quickly and we're good to go next week. I can't imagine having to reschedule this. They book out so far and I don't think I could keep feeding him like this when it is obviously making him feel bad. -
ARCHIVED Aaaahhhhh! Now He's Sick!
mommy2krj posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Here we are at a week out from getting his endoscopy done and the little guy is sick! Running a fever and complaining that his throat hurts...and his chest hurts and his head hurts and he puked two days ago but now I can't tell if it's because he's sick or if this is the Celiac's talking. We only have a week and then we were going gluten free after the... -
ARCHIVED Quick Question About Endoscopies And Being Sick...
mommy2krj posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So, my 6 year old is scheduled for his endoscopy on June 19th. We're FINALLY a week away....almost there! Now he's sick. I'm taking him in later today because he's been complaining that his throat hurts and he's been running a fairly high fever....and he puked two nights ago (but now I'm never sure if he's sick when he pukes or if it's the Celiac's).... -
ARCHIVED Gi Appointment Today
mommy2krj replied to wmramsel's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hugs mama! I think specialized Drs make me nervous. I've never dealt with a doctor outside of our regular doc and an allergist/ENT (my husband and both my boys had their tonsils/adenoids out kind of back to back and the youngest and the hubby have nasty seasonal and cat allergies) but not really anything beyond that. I wasn't super nervous about my... -
ARCHIVED What Symptoms Did/does Your Child Have?
mommy2krj replied to kpw31's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Joan, thank you for the advice! Right now I'm a bit overwhelmed with the Celiac's thing....and we haven't even started removing food yet!!! But I will definitely keep it in mind if things don't clear up. I read through some of the stuff that has high salicylates and found that the majority of that list are things he doesn't eat. I will keep an eye on it though... -
ARCHIVED What Symptoms Did/does Your Child Have?
mommy2krj replied to kpw31's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My 6 year old, who is also in the process of being tested (his endoscopy is June 19th) is pretty much the same as your 5 year old. Been complaining every.single.day about his stomach hurting him. Random puking episodes (there weren't too many but there have been some) and apparently with the diarrhea and constipation here too....even though he would use...
