  1. Oh my gosh, that all sounds soooooooooo good! Especially the biscotti
  2. I'm writing Santa as we speak, Bartfull
  3. If you're still eating gluten, you'll probably be okay to test. I was never a huge gluten consumer even before I was diagnosed and my labs were still positive.
  4. I have always and I mean ALWAYS wanted to receive a gourmet gift basket. I know that sounds silly but those treats always look so darn good. Well, what do I receive today? A gourmet gift tower filled with all of the delicious stuff I can no longer eat. Oh cruel world.....and it LOOKS so pretty, too. I'm going back to ogle it some more
  5. Hmmm, sorry. I thought that was a letter you received summing up results. I've not seen a lab's celiac disease panel listed with just one result. There are several tests to run so I would think you would have several test results. Maybe someone else will be along who can interpret it?
  6. I don't know what the "5" represents in your letter but I would request a copy of the actual lab results from the where ever you had them done. Then if you still have questions (we all usually do!), you can post the results here along with the reference ranges. Good luck with the gluten-free diet and hope you feel better
  7. I am diagnosed with a few AI issues- Hashimoto's, Latent Autoimmune Diabetes, Celiac and some others as well. I'm hoping a gluten-free diet will help. I'm only a month along so other than my GI symptoms, I haven't seen much improvement yet.
  8. Hmm, I have never heard of them but googled the name. Don't know if this is the same company but they supply many different brands... Open Original Shared Link
  9. Glad to hear you're feeling some improvements but sorry to hear of the glutenings. I'll let others speak to the their experience with being glutened. I haven't been at this long enough to recognize any patterns yet with regards to symptoms. I was glutened early on and had immediate and unmistakable GI symptoms in response. It's only been a month and...
  10. Yeaaa, Congratulations! I can't wait to have more energy, too. Some days I think I have a bit more but most days it's like I've been hit by a mack truck. Anyway, keep up the great work
  11. Ugh! The mistakes and cc are frustrating! I was accidentally glutened within 3 days of starting the diet and I was soooo mad....at myself! But this is a learning process and it just takes some time to get the swing of things. Hang in there and don't get discouraged. With time, things will get better....and easier!
  12. Sounds like you are doing a great job. It's not easy managing in a house where others are handling gluten. I was worried about the dishwasher at first too but I've had no problems with it. Good luck
  13. I just made this for my daughter's birthday and it was delicious!
  14. I used to eat a sandwich for lunch and everyday I just HAD to nap afterward. I have diabetes so I would immediately suspect a glucose spike but it was always fine when I checked. I never even suspected it was gluten causing my immediate crash. It felt like someone slipped me a sleeping pill.
  15. Awww, that's a shame! I hope you feel better. p.s. Maybe they should just give you flowers next time
  16. Sorry to hear this. I'm really not sure about the role glutening may play in asthma. Something to certainly consider. He may benefit from a nebulizer treatment. Sometimes that's the only thing that works when my inhaler isn't enough anymore. If he's old enough I believe there is a children's Claritin to help with the allergy symptoms if they're still...
  17. Just went through the whole kitchen clean out. It was harder and more complicated than I had anticipated. I had to buy a ton of new kitchen tools. I live with those that eat gluten so I have to watch carefully that they don't contaminate food and surfaces. I've decided that it might actually be easier to make the whole house gluten free. It's just too...
  18. I would always get some mild nausea but nothing like what you describe. And as far as alcohol, I would probably avoid it if my stomach was easily upset. Alcohol is harsh on the stomach. That being said, I like rum in juice. 100% pineapple juice is my personal favorite.
  19. That's wonderful! Sounds like you are doing a great job.
  20. Black Pepper (It was a store brand and now I buy McCormick's) and Shredded Cheddar Cheese (can't recall the brand)
  21. Hi Jon! I am learning the in's and out's to this diet myself and learning more everyday. I live with gluten consumers and it has not been easy so far. I am the main cook in the house so I have control over some of the meals. Here's what I just did to prep my own kitchen recently... https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/105006-nesting/?hl=nesting You should...
  22. Thanks for sharing. It has been 4 days and I have already "caught" my kids contaminating various food items. Makes me wonder what I'm not catching. It's frustrating and they are REALLY trying but they're kids and this is hard even for most adults to learn. Once I get a new bread machine (are you listening Santa?), I will start making gluten-free bread...
  23. If you were eating gluten at the time of your celiac disease panel (I am assuming you had a full celiac disease panel) and it was still negative, you could have NCGS (non celiac gluten sensitivity). NCGS shares a lot of the same symptoms with celiac disease without the autoimmune piece. Have you been tested for lactose intolerance? My son has that...
  24. I can relate. I joke about how with each of my pregnancies, I received a baby as well as a new diagnosis. And I have a large family It is pretty common for a person with celiac disease to also have Hashi's. Did you have the antibody test for Hashi's?
  25. Hang in there, Tonalynn. Your feelings are understandable. What?!?! Uh-geez. ~Going off to check my ground pepper container now.
