  1. I have been diagnosed with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, antibiotic induced dysbiosis, and irritable bowel. I got tested for Celiac using blood tests a few years ago, the results were negative, and my colonoscopy was normal. I do, however, have one celiac gene. I seem to react very negatively to cow milk- I get constipated for days even after...
  2. I have fibro too... and eating gluten makes it worse. Chances are you will feel better after you have gone gluten-free.
  3. I have Asperger's also, and I've used L-Glutamine. It can be sedating- that's one of the things its used for.
  4. I've also had reactions to xanthan gum- I accidentally ate a bit too much of it a week ago and it was unpleasant and painful. Perhaps you have gastritis and inflammation. I have this and a lot of foods can bother me, not just gluten and dairy (which for me just cause bloating, pain, and constipation). Right now I'm sticking to eating very little...
  5. Gluten and casein bother me so much, that I can't see myself eating them for a month again just to pass a test that may not show anything. The constipation is horrible (my digestion just shuts down, the only cure seems to be using magnesium citrate to flush it out) and I'm worried about long term issues like getting distended bowels and esophageal cancer...
  6. I had SIBO off an on for over a year. I've also taken antibiotics. The evidence is that antibiotics are not as effective, long-term, as changes in diet. Flagyl even made things worse. What happens with SIBO is there's an imbalance of bacteria, but antibiotics basically indiscriminately eliminate all bacteria, even the ones that help, and can lead to...
  7. I went to a gastro 8 months ago for IBS and pain in my lower stomach and was given a colonoscopy, and also blood tests for celiac. The doctor was Pakistani, there were some communication issues, and he didn't spend much time talking to me . He said the blood tests were negative for celiac and my colon was perfect. I've had GERD and an endoscopy done, but...
  8. This morning my stomach was hurting like I had eaten bread, and in the back of my mind a small voice was telling me how odd that was, since I was trying to not be eaten that stuff. I ran across a post talking about Corn Flakes not being gluten free. Sure enough, that is what I had eaten. I think the matter is settled in my mind. I'm going to try...
  9. I'm 37 years old, white, male, and I have adult autism, diagnosed a few years ago. A year ago I was diagnosed with irritable bowel. I would have loose stools and sometimes, constipation. It was hard to figure out what was going on. I was under a lot of stress so my doctors chalked it up to that. Starting 6-7 months ago I got gastritis and...
