  1. I have found several items at Wal-Mart lately also that specified gluten free on the label. One of them was some salsa in the refrigerated section of the deli. It sure does make you feel good to see it spelled out doesn't it. Jennifer
  2. Read this on another site: More Students with Food Allergies Force Hampton Roads Schools to Adjust Cafeteria Procedures Open Original Shared Link "Then every time the student punches in his or her ID number to pay for lunch, the food allergy pops up on the computer so the cashier knows to double check that tray. "Sometimes we'll even call the...
  3. I am a new to Celiac also. My husband is actually the Celiac and we know what you are going thru. He gets very frustrated with all the hurry up and wait with the doctors. We find a lot of comfort and support on this message board. Its nice to know you aren't alone. Jennifer
  4. Good Luck. I think you're going to need it. Jennifer
  5. The turkey would be contaminated if it is cooked with regular dressing. There is a similar topic in the Food and Recipies section you might want to read it is all about Thanksgiving Turkey's and prep. It is on the 2nd page at the bottom titled Thanksgiving Turkey. Jennifer
  6. Yes. They did ask me if I wanted morning or afternoon pick up window. They said they could pick up as late as 8:00 pm. Jennifer
  7. I bought the brownies from 123 Gluten Free and they were very good also. Very rich and have chocolate chunks in them. Great with a glass of milk. Has anyone else had these and the ones from Gluten Pantry? Just wondering which ones were better for next time. Jennifer
  8. They gave me a window time frame for pick up. The contents for the stool test have to be kept cool so you couldn't leave it outside unless its cold where you live. You might be able to ask them how you should handle it when you call the 800 number. Good Luck. Jennifer
  9. Why don't you try getting the gene test like Kati suggested. My husband has been sick for months and we kept getting the run around from doctors even after he had a positive biopsy. They felt it couldn't be right because he had negative bloodwork. He went on the diet anyway and felt results in a couple of weeks. He is not by any means better but he can...
  10. I believe all jello is gluten free but I'm not positive on that. I buy the JELL-O kind because its made by Kraft and you can just read the label. It is gluten free. I'm not sure about the Image brand Chicken broth though sorry. Jennifer
  11. You could always check out Entrolabs website www.entrolabs.com and see if that is something you are interested in doing. You have to purchase it yourself but you can have your son tested to see if he has the genes that predispose to Celiac. Everyone feels differently about these test and there are some topics on here about the test you might be interested...
  12. My husbands test kit from Entrolabs came in a plain brown box with mailing labels that had his name & address & Entrolabs name & address thats it. It also came regular mail it took about 4-5 days to get it. Then to send it back you call a currier service @ an 800 number & schedule the pick up at your house. Then we got the results in 2...
  13. Thank you. Jennifer
  14. I was getting ready to bake biscuits that are supposed to be put on parchment paper and I remembered a discussion about cigarette papers being coated with wheat and I started wondering and wanted to check before I went any further. The brand is Reynolds. I went on the site but it didn't state anything about it. If anyone knows if its safe I would appreciate...
  15. Laurelfla - I noticed you are from Gainsville. Can you tell me what doctor you see there? I am from Fort Pierce about 3 1/2 - 4 hours south but we are seeing a doctor in Gainsville at Shands. Just curious because we are not having a lot of luck with the doctor we are seeing. Jennifer
  16. Rachel - Did you get a copy of the blood work? My husbands GI tested his vitamin levels and told us all was normal not to worry about it and a week later I had to get a copy of it for the University Hospital he sent us to and on the lab report the normal ranges for the lab were 200 - 1100 his being 240 which did fall in the normal range so the doctor was...
  17. Claire - Is all CoQ10 gluten free or can you tell me the brand you take and where you get it? I got the sub-lingual B-12 for him to start taking and a liquid multivitamin is the CoQ10 ok to take with these also? We will try anything at this point. Thanks for all the suggestions. Jennifer
  18. My husband has Celiac and he has only been gluten free for almost 4 weeks (3 months gluten-free but his doctor had him do a gluten challenge at 7 weeks & now he's been starting over) he gets terrible bloating & belching gas after eating. He gets so uncomfortable that he almost hates eating. I'm not sure how long it takes to get rid of this symptom...
  19. Thanks for the suggestions we will give them a try. Jennifer
  20. My husband has been so tired lately. I was wondering how some of you dealt with the extreme fatigue? Its been a while since his vitamin levels have been checked & I'm going to call & make an appt. to have this done. Last time his vitamin B12 was at 240 with the normal range being 200 - 1100 (with a note from the lab that people with levels of ...
  21. George - Thanks for posting this link. My husband just found out he is also casein intolerant so I really appreciate the info. Jennifer
  22. I got my husband several of the Progresso soups. They list all allergens right under the ingredients. Its very easy to read the labels which is nice if you have several food intolerances. Jennifer
  23. My husband is still bloating & he is on his 4th week now. He did the diet for 7 weeks and his doctor put him back on a regular diet & now he is back on the gluten free diet for about 4 weeks. He did just recently find out he is casein intolerant & we've been trying to get that all eliminated - I think that was a lot of his problem after the...
  24. Rachel - Thanks. Can you buy the Bare Escentuals at Department stores or do you buy it online? I was worried about the face powder having gluten. I guess I will call the company and see what they say. Jennifer
  25. Rachel - What kind of make up products do you buy? I've been researching it a little trying to come up with a brand that doesn't have to purchased online. My husband is the celiac but I thought it might be a good idea for me to go ahead and change my makeup so if he kissed me (even on the cheek) it wouldn't be a problem. Jennifer
