ARCHIVED Bloating
CynthiaSt replied to Frosty-35768's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Frosty_35768, I am going to a naturapath. One thing he suggested that I am getting some relief with is DGL. Deglycerized licorice. It coats the stomach and esophagus so if the acid splashes up it does not burn. It is especially good to take it at night before you go to sleep. I take 1/2 of a chewable tablet 15 minutes before meals. You can take more... -
ARCHIVED Bloating
CynthiaSt replied to Frosty-35768's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Frosty_35768 and june27, I have a very similar thing that happens to me. It almost always happens in the morning. I have to eat as soon as I get up. Usually I have to eat at least 3 times between 7:30 and noon because I am so underweight. It seems like it happens really fast. My stomach starts secreting acid. I get cranky stomach, gas and bloating... -

Hi pricklypear1971, Thanks for the info. I seem to have a good day, then a bad day. Very frustratring. I am still trying to get my energy to rebuild. If I do too much on the good day, the next day I have problems. I have to eat almost constantly (every 1 to 11/2 hours). Did that happen to you? I have been taking the digestive enzymes like Gemini recommended... -
ARCHIVED Cultured Foods For Healing...
CynthiaSt replied to gary'sgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi gary'sgirl, WOW, what great info. I am definitely going to look into the site and the better way to ferment the rice. I bought the rice at the grocery store. It is in a sealed bag, but has no info on what's in it. I will go to the healthfood store and get new certified organic rice in a bag and see if that helps. So much one has to learn with this... -
ARCHIVED Cultured Foods For Healing...
CynthiaSt replied to gary'sgirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi garey'sgirl, I'm really interested in this. I have terrible GERD and also have trouble sleeping at night. I used to make my own yogurt in a crockpot. it was yummy but I got away from it because it was dairy. I was on the SCD diet for a short time. She said if you ferment the culture for 36 hours there is no lactose in it. I am also a fan of kefir... -

Hi gary'sgirl, I ferment my brown rice. 2 tbl of apple cider vinegar and soak for at least 7 hours. Makes it much easier to digest. Do you fine that eating the fermented foods like saurkraut burns your stomach? My stomach and gut is still in a state ofmajor inflamtion. Cheerio CynthiaST -

Hi, Thanks to everyone for the help. it does help so much to be part of a community like this. Gemini, I sent your posts to my naturapath. He was very grateful for the info. Amazing, a doctor with humility. It did really help him to update my treatment plan. The digestive enzymes are definitely helping. Sometimes I think for doctors it is difficult... -

Hi Gemini, Again,my heartfelt appreciation for your help and info. After I read you post, I ate a big plate of chicken with some rice and took a digestive enzyme that I had bought but had been been afraid to try. I am so happy, I am actually tolerating the enzyme. What a gift. I went to the health food store today and bought a protein shake that is... -

ARCHIVED What Do You Recommend To Take For Gas And Gerd?
CynthiaSt posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi, What do you recommend to take for gas and GERD? I have really debilitating gas and GERD. I have tried not to take anything like Gavascon or tums because of the long term problems they can cause. I am wondering if I take any of these if it would help me tolerate the vitamins and introduce new foods with out all of the drama my body is currently presenting... -

Hi, I'm trying to find what could be the cause of cc in my diet. Do you know if Crest Pro-Health toothpaste contains gluten? Cheerio CynthiaST -
Hi, I am newly diagnosed with celiac (1 month). I knew 2 years ago that I had a gluten sensitivity and thought if I had eliminated it from my diet all would be well. I did not know about all of the complications etc. Unfortunately I find out I never did totally eliminate it and knew nothing about cross contamination. I lost 25 pounds in 2 months...
