I find this interesting. I had an allergic reaction to something (never did pinpoint the exact trigger but it was between a couple of things I'd never had before and am not likely to ever encounter again). Since that was my first time getting actual hives, it was the first time I ever went to an allergist. They did pinprick tests on the most common allergens...

Vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause anxiety. If you go for more testing, you might want to ask them to check your B12 level.

ARCHIVED Mistakes in Diagnosis
Galixie posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A link to this page was posted on another forum I read and I found it pretty interesting so I wanted to pass it along here. It's clearly meant for practitioners (in Europe), but the detail is fascinating. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED EnteroLab Result - I'm back after 7 years!
Galixie replied to gatewaytobeing's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also agree that repeating the blood tests might be helpful. Something might have changed since the last time you had them run. In addition to the newest tests, you might also ask them to re-run the AGA IgA test that was negative previously, because then you could compare your current result to the previous result. Unfortunately, many labs have discontinued... -
I normally don't lick envelopes (because I don't like the taste and texture of the glue), but I was in a situation where I needed to get an envelope in the mail and I didn't have any other way to seal it. I don't think I've ever gotten sick from licking an envelope before, so this was a surprise. I'm thoroughly stumped on what could have caused illness. Thankfully...

I realize this is an old thread, but it's relevant to me at the moment because I did become ill yesterday and the only thing out of the ordinary I can point to is the fact that I licked an envelope. I wanted to think it was somehow coincidence because one envelope surely would not have enough of anything in it to make me ill, yet there was truly nothing else...

ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result
Galixie replied to Galixie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's about as official as I'm ever likely to get. A couple of months ago, someone gave me the contact info for a clinic in England that specializes in gluten-related disorders. Even though I considered it a huge long-shot that I would get any response, I decided to take a chance and mail a letter because I was still a little uncertain if I could really... -
ARCHIVED Could all pobiotics make me very ill right now???
Galixie replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Kimchi is another food that is gluten and dairy free and has probiotics. There is also sauerkraut. Or miso soup. -
ARCHIVED Neg Biopsy :(

From what I understand, gastritis and low stomach acid tend to go hand in hand. Strangely, low stomach acid often has the same symptoms as too much stomach acid. I wonder if the antacids gave you heartburn because they were reducing an already too low amount of acid? Having gastritis is definitely something to keep an eye on. It can put you at a higher... -
ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result
Galixie replied to Galixie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I went to see my naturopath yesterday about some ongoing gut issues. We are both in agreement that my gut biome is out of whack and that I need to correct it. I think there may be a possibility that I'm also not producing enough stomach acid (which is a pretty common problem with pernicious anemia). I haven't figured out what probiotic to try yet and I've... -
ARCHIVED Vitamin B12 Tablets Hurt!
Galixie replied to S-J-L's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ever since I first heard about cobalt allergies, I've always had the impression that they were kind of tragic. I remember someone from the PAS forum who had that along with pernicious anemia and it just sounded like a horrible death sentence when I heard about it. But that case was kind of extreme because she was already low in B12 and had no possible way... -
How long does the meat need to 'rest' before you can refrigerate or freeze it? Someone at work said it's bad to put freshly cooked meat in the fridge, but we were all a little unclear on whether it was bad for the actual meat or because the warm container might warm up surrounding food.

I was listening to someone a few weeks back talking about having a very long lasting rash that didn't go away even though she had a really long list of foods she was avoiding. It turned out that one of the few foods she wasn't avoiding was eggs, but when she cut them out of her diet her rash went away in just days. Based on her story, you might try eliminating...

Thank you! A few days ago I was talking to a friend of mine about needing to find a basic cooking class. He was lamenting the lack affordable basic cooking classes with me. He would love to find a class that teaches how to cook meat in various ways because he was a vegan for years and doesn't feel knowledgeable now on how to cook meat. I have difficulty...

I previously had success losing weight with calorie counting. I lost about 30lbs that way and managed to keep it off for at least a year, but it is slowly creeping back up and I've now regained 10. Calorie counting worked for me because I still felt like I could eat anything I wanted as long as I could fit it into my calorie budget. It didn't feel restrictive...

ARCHIVED I don't think I have celiac. What else could it be?
Galixie replied to Ender's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This part caught my eye: "low RBC and hemocrit, nearly low Hemoglobin, high MCV and MCH" It sounds like your results are showing a macrocytic anemia which your doctor is treating with B12 injections. It's great that your doctor is treating this (there are so many who don't). But I do wonder if your folate level was also checked? If you have low folate, the... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms
Galixie replied to Zachm's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I really know nothing on this subject but the first thing I thought about when reading your description was 'could it be a gallbladder problem?' The insurance thing is a drag, but if you put off signing up for it, it will take even longer for you to be covered. Since specialists often have fairly long waiting lists, it might work out to sign up for insurance... -
PCOS is a diagnosis of exclusion which means that you need further tests before it can be considered PCOS. Just having cysts on your ovaries doesn't automatically mean it is PCOS. In true PCOS there is also hormonal imbalance which is measured through blood tests. Finding out which hormones are out of balance is essential to figure out what the correct treatment...

ARCHIVED The next acceptance battle
Galixie replied to Galixie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for reminding me about the airborne flour issue. I'm not usually at her house when she's baking. When I mentioned it to her she had a response that made me laugh: "Yeah I'm sure I'm covered in a fine layer of gluten at all times, but as long as you don't lick me you're probably safe." -
I might hold the record for being in denial the longest. After five years I'm just now coming to the realization that gluten is a problem for me after all. As difficult as it has been for me personally to reach a point of acceptance, now I find that I will have to persuade my friends. They mean well and they just want me to retain some skepticism. I get...

ARCHIVED Test Results, Not Convinced...
Galixie replied to iamashley07's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Is "borderline celiac" similar to being "only a little pregnant"? Can you have only a little of an autoimmune disease? There is a small portion of actual wondering in my question as well as some facetiousness. I think you're probably justified in calling it celiac. It sounds like both of those doctors are acknowledging that gluten is the cause of the damage... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Worse Since Going gluten-free And Seeking Some Advice
Galixie replied to jennigoose's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You mentioned that you're vegan. That coupled with the malabsorption of nutrients that goes along with celiac disease puts you at a high risk of being deficient in vitamin B12. B12 is essential to the human body. Not only is it needed for blood production, it is also responsible for repairing/maintaining the myelin sheath that coats every nerve in the body... -
ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result

ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result
Galixie replied to Galixie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm a little bit frustrated with not really getting clear answers from my own body. I had to wait a bit longer to go back on gluten than I had planned because I came down with a cold at the beginning of September and I didn't want to miss or mistake any symptoms from that. Despite waiting until I'd gotten over a cold, it still seems like I have some... -
ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result
Galixie replied to Galixie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Short update: It's been a little over 3 months of gluten free. I've been keeping a journal and see no difference in symptoms. Additionally, I seem to be having a flare up of the anemia of inflammation that I was originally investigating when I started down this path. That leads me to believe that the anemia problem stems from some other cause. Finding that...
