ARCHIVED Is It Really That Easy For Some?
Eeyorific replied to Eeyorific's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Oh My! Right now we are able to spend about 75.00 a week (total bill including misc, and there are 4 in our family) but with many thanks to the Lord, my childcare is growing... so starting next week, things should get a bit easier. Jackie, My heart goes out to you and my prayers are with you. I grew up in a town much like you are... -
ARCHIVED Is It Really That Easy For Some?
Eeyorific replied to Eeyorific's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A very important thing I should have mentioned in my 1st post... while it's hard and frustrating, and at times feeling nearly impossible... I know and trust that God WILL provide our needs!!! Things may not always be the way I would like them... but I fully trust in HIS plan and protection in our life!!! Kristie -
ARCHIVED Is It Really That Easy For Some?
Eeyorific posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Before I get started, I need to say, I am not trying to be judgemental or hurtful in ANY way!!! This is an honest question I have... maybe we're doing something within our household that's making it harder than need be. So if your thoughts and opinions can help us see our error and lighten our load... this will be worth asking. Many, many times (on... -
ARCHIVED Just Need To Vent
Eeyorific replied to shan1523's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Shannon, Feel free to vent any time, that's what we're here for. I'm sorry the in-laws just don't get it. It really does make things harder than they need to be, doesn't it? How about hubby? Is he supportive and understanding of the disease? It's been 2 years since my sons dx. My dh has come a long way.. but only when it comes to the kids. (my... -
ARCHIVED Gi Doctor Anti-enterolab
Eeyorific replied to Mamato2boys's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A few things... 1: I've only read your 1st post, I have yet to make it through the replies and such.. 2: I have no experience with enterolab. Honestly, we've never had the $ Otherwise, I think on our own, we would have tested both kids, but kept the doc out of it (based on our experience with docs.. especially GI's Which brings me to my reply.... -

ARCHIVED Sensory Integration Dysfunction And Gluten Intolerance
Eeyorific replied to wonkabar's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This would be after his eval and dx... correct? Now forgive me for asking, but his celiac disease alone doesn't qualify him as "special needs" does it? Kristie -
ARCHIVED Sensory Integration Dysfunction And Gluten Intolerance
Eeyorific replied to wonkabar's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
On the contrary, I fully appreciate any and all suggestions. You are exactly right.. the "What?" stage is overwhelming and scary at times.. I know once we fully understand what we're dealing with, and how we can properaly help our little guy, I'll feel much better about everything. His b-day is just short of the Sept 1st cut off, meaning even... -

ARCHIVED Sensory Integration Dysfunction And Gluten Intolerance
Eeyorific replied to wonkabar's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Would the same go for Ketchup? My ds (the one I mentioned in previous post, who is gluten-free/CF&corn free) LOVES LOVES LOVES (safe) Ketchup.. he insists that it goes on EVERYTHING!! In fact, he won't eat vegetables without it. We have to specially order a bottle every week, and he's the ONLY one who eats from that bottle! Kristie -
ARCHIVED Sensory Integration Dysfunction And Gluten Intolerance
Eeyorific replied to wonkabar's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I personally thank you for doing so. we are facing *something* with my son.. but unsure at this point as to ***WHAT*** His pediatrician suspects PDD, and is having him sent to a specialist. I am now awaiting the paper work before given the appt time/date. Matthew has been Casein free his entire life (4 years) and has been gluten free for the past 2. I often... -
ARCHIVED Celiac & Croup
Eeyorific replied to Eeyorific's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you everyone for your kind words. Yes, we have been through quite a bit, but honestly speaking, my faith carries me through. Also, Matthew's celiac disease is in a way a blessing. You see, both my daughter and I have had life long health problems that we have now been able to trace back to being gluten intolerant, but it took Matthew and his classic... -
ARCHIVED Celiac & Croup
Eeyorific replied to Eeyorific's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
sorry... I thought I mentioned that in my orginal post.. He had 2 or 3 minor cases of croup that year (went gluten-free in hospital) but didn't have one episode last year at all! :-) Kristie -
As we are nearing October... I can't help to think of the 2 painful anniversaries that Oct. 31st hold for us. (trying not to go too OT here) 1.. the last of the 3 babies we have lost would be turning 5 yrs old on that day. and 2.. it marks the 2nd anniversary of when my now nearly 4 yr old almost died. As a mother, it was the most painful, hardest day of...

ARCHIVED Enterolab Testing On Toddler?
Eeyorific replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
When my son was an infant, his GI doc performed several stool tests of his own, they suggested I line the diaper with clear suran wrap. At times this was nasty and nearly impossible due to the extreme amount of big D my lil guy was having, but I guess if your child isn't having diarrhea, the diaper won't soak it up as it did with my sons, so doing this isn... -
ARCHIVED Would Getting Gluten Cause A Fever?
Eeyorific replied to dahams04's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Fever is one of my sons (nearly 4 yrs old) #1 "gltuened" symptom... that and the big D! Kristie -
ARCHIVED Hay Rides?
Eeyorific replied to Smunkeemom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This I understand,... my daughter seems to have extremely sensitive skin, and is allergic to many things that cause her to break out with hives. However, it was her reaction to the Alfalfa that made me think about my celiac son who is also skin positive for a wheat allergy. Kristie -
ARCHIVED Hay Rides?
Eeyorific replied to Smunkeemom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you very much for posting this, for we recently got a Rabbit and after speaking to the zoo keeper last week at our visit to the local zoo. I picked up some hay for our bunny. 1st I got Alfalfa, but daughter (who not celiac but gluten intolerant) broke out with mild case of hives after handeling the hay. So I bought Timothy Hay last night, before... -
ARCHIVED Lets Talk Toiletries.. What Kinds Do You Use?
Eeyorific replied to dahams04's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know this may sound really bad, but so far, I have continued using what we have always use, Not because I haven't wanted to strictly use gluten-free items, but because there are 3 of us who are gluten-free, and one of them has many other allergies (mainly food), we have to pick our battles. I just cannot afford to get as strict as I'd like with soaps, shampoos... -
ARCHIVED My Cousin's Kids Test Results Are In
Eeyorific replied to schuyler's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
like others, all I can say is WOW!! I thought we had it hard!! I'll spare details, but I may be able to offer a slight bit of help... (not much I'm afraid) My almost 4 yr old celiac son is also free of ALL dairy/casein as well as being corn and refined sugar free. You mentioned that one has anger issues. With *my* Matthew, this is due to the corn. He... -
ARCHIVED What Are The Chances Of Our Kids Being Celiac?
Eeyorific replied to Kyalesyin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know I'm not part of a "Study" nor am I a doctor.. Only a mother who went through this EXACT thing with my son. I am not able to have anymore children, but if I were, and had more, had I still be on a NGF diet (just went gluten-free 10 months ago) I would go gluten-free strictly for that babies sake, given what we have learned to be true in our family. -
