  1. Please forgive me, this reply may be "all over the place" Stayed up way too late watching a baseball game that lasted wayyyy too long, then followed that up by getting up before daylight. lol so please bare with me. Prior to my ds (who's turning 4 next month) going gluten-free, all forms of milk including casein would cause him the big D) 2 years into...
  2. Chrissy, My daughter has braces, the only thing so far that I know to be careful of (with any dental work really) is to be sure to ask for them to use NON-powdered gloves. Other than that, we don't seem to have any other problems. she's had an expander and braces in. I hope that helps! God Bless! Kristie
  3. Ok... this is just me thinking out loud, so bare with me. But the new laws.. apply only to the U.S. right? So, if the wheat was there the whole time, and they didn't *have* to list it... Couldn't that possibly be the case in Canada? Meaning, it's the same, but not listed so therefore it appears to them to be safe? Karen, I'm not trying to put a damper...
  4. This is so upsetting! Sunday night, after 6 hours of painting, I wasn't up for cooking, so asked hubby to stop and grab something.. Sounds easy... NOT! First, he had to go get a Gerber meal for my THREE yr old, because being that he's gluten-free/CF and Corn free, there is not a safe place for him to just grab something at. Then.. being that the McDonalds...
  5. Hi Vanessa, Welcome! So Happy to hear that the diet is helping your daughter! My son would have 20-30 diarrheas daily prior to going gluten-free. I can't tell you how many hospital stays we had to endure! It's such a blessing to be able to see your child growing and healthy after going gluten-free.. especially if the tests work against you. At that point...
  6. The only thing that I know for sure to be safe, is Colgate Toothpaste. I've heard all Colgate items are gluten-free... However, I have not confirmed that myself yet. But the toothpaste... I have. :-) I'll post more as I come across them. God Bless, Kristie
  7. One thing to keep in mind, is the blood work is not accurate for a child under the age of 2yrs. Was he tested before or after he turned 2? Also, my son, in all has had about umm.... 6 or more RAST tests... 3 of them came back pos for Milk, none of them came back pos for wheat. However, when he turned 2yrs... they did a skin test on him, that showed pos...
  8. I know what you mean... My son has been on the diet for just over a year. However, he's also CF and Corn Free. So when my daughter and I went on it. It was still a bit of an adjustment. It's still going really well, we're seeing big improvement! I'm a bit concerned however, because we are going out of town for the weekend. I'm bringing most of the food...
  9. Well, we're on day 4 of our gluten-free diet.. It's going great!! In fact, it's going so good, that I have to keep double and tripple checking everything to ensure that we are in fact eating gluten-free. I'm already seeing improvement in Emelia with stools. I knew this diet would help her! She's still feeling pretty good about things. Tuesday, she...
  10. I want to apologize in advance for this post isn't only about my children, but myself as well, so it may be a bit OT. Just a brief repost.. ds (3yrs) has been gluten-free for past year, and is doing wonderfully!! (he is also CF and corn free) My daughter and I have very different symptoms, however both have had these symptoms life long, and most...
  11. These stories I'm reading are almost as if I wrote them about my son. If I could go back in time and change things, knowing what I know now, I would have taken all gluten (as well as the dairy that I removed) from my diet and continue to strictly nurse him for that 1st year of life omitting all other foods. I'm not sure what age your child is.. this is just...
  12. I have always had problems with my tendons in my feet, but not flat footed. My daughter isn't necessarily flat footed, her feet cave inward, so she wears arch support pads in her shoes (has for last 3 years) I had no idea there could be a link. My 3 yr old son doesn't have any feet problems as of yet. We caught his Celiac right away.. if that makes any...
  13. Hello everyone, (I will try to make this as brief as possible) My name is Kristie, I live in Central Illinois with my hubby, (Denny) and our two children... Emelia (dd, age 9) and Matthew (ds, age 3) I'll start with Matthew. Shortly after birth, Matthew's problems began. He lost weight... alot of it! Malabsorption, Very fussy, distended belly...
  14. It is VERY interesting that you should mention tonsils... My daughter, Emelia has had very enlarged tonsils most of her life. I do pray that going gluten-free will also help her with this, because the doctors are unwilling to take them out at this point. However, they are so large that when she becomes ill with a sore throat.. she's unable to eat, and even...
  15. Hi! I'm new here, My name is Kristie... I will post an intro on another thread, but here I would like to share what has helped me with getting my very reluctant family members to eat gluten-free. I started very innocently, by making gluten-free (also CF) banana muffins with my 3yr old celiac son. As they were baking up.. my non gluten-free family...
