ARCHIVED Upper Abdominal Pain/weakness?
Jerri Ward replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I thought that Cheetos were safe. I have been eating them every night. Myi ribs have been hurting so bad that I can barely breath or touch them. Could this be from the Cheetos? Are they safe or not? This makes me mad. I am so sick of this crappy disease. It has made me so sick. -
I have had Celiac Disease and been gluten-free since Nov. 2005. I have lost 60 lbs. None of my drs. seem to be concerned about my weightloss. I have recently been diagnosed with Iron Deficiency Anemia. I am going to have an EGD on Mon. because they suspect that I may have a slow bleed somewhere. I don't know what else to do. I try to eat as much as...

I have been gluten-free for a year and a half. I have lost 60 lbs. in the process. I have dropped from a size 12 to a size 2. I now suffer from Iron Deficiency Anemia. They are still doing tests to find out why. I am eating, but cannot seem to gain any weight. I feel worse than I did before I was diagnosed. I never thought that could be possible. ...

ARCHIVED Worse After Celiac Diagnosis
Jerri Ward replied to Jerri Ward's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
They checked everything in my bloodwork and everything was o.k. except my Vit. D which I take 50,000 units monthly and my B12 and my iron which they had not decided what to do about, because I am unable to absorb them. I wasn't as sick with the gluten and wheat as I am now. I have had about enough of this as I want. I would just like to sit down and have... -
ARCHIVED Worse After Celiac Diagnosis
Jerri Ward replied to Jerri Ward's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed with bloodwork and biopsy. I am very careful with everything that I eat. I check all labels. I cannot tell you the last time that I ate out. I have checked meds that I take and hair products and makeup. I am very careful. I have to be. In 96 I had most of my colon removed, so I don't have very much left to play around with. I don't... -
ARCHIVED Worse After Celiac Diagnosis
Jerri Ward posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was told that after I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease that I would feel so much better. That my tiredness would be better, my depression would be better and my pain level would ease. Well, just the opposite has happened. I have been gluten-free for 18 mths. In that time I have lost 60 lbs. My Vit. D level has dropped so low that I have to take 5... -

ARCHIVED Test For Dairy Allergy?
Jerri Ward posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Is there a test that you can take to find out if you are allergic to dairy? My brother was diagnosed with Celiac a month before and I was and I think he may be allergic to dairy. He doesn't want to give up dairy, because that is about all that he has left, so I was wondering if there was a test he could take to find out if that is in fact was is causing... -
ARCHIVED Vitamin D Level Way Low ~scared
Jerri Ward replied to chgomom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am unable to retain Vitamin D. In the beginning I was taking 50,000 units weekly. I did that for 8 mths. Then my dr. told me I could back it down to 50,000 units once mthly. I have been taking that for a year and a half now. He said that I would probably have to take it forever. Also my iron level has been dangerously low for at least 6 mths. now... -

My brother was diagnosed with Celiac Disease a month prior to me. He was diagnosed in Oct. 2005. He seems to get colds and coughs all of the time. I was wondering if ths could be related to Celiac. If his immune system is lowered. He got them before he was diagnosed with Celiac, but he has no way of knowing how long he has had Celiac. He is 45 yrs.... -

Jerri Ward replied to Jerri Ward's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for your responses. It is sad to say that my brother and my sil are so consumed with work that both of my nieces come in second place. My sil is tall skinny and my other niece is skinny and so she sort of punishs Alyssa because she is not skinny. Yesterday when I picked the girls up from school, Alyssa had on one her skorts. Jerri Ward replied to Jerri Ward's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It is white rice with boiled shrimped and a seasoning called Het. That was all that they could tell me. I don't know what Het is. That is why I did not eat it yet. There is no soy sauce or anything else. It is sauteed in a wok. That is all the information that I have. -

ARCHIVED I Need Help For My Brother
Jerri Ward replied to Jerri Ward's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My brother cheats everywhere. The night they had a birthday party for my mother, he had a rather large piece of chocolate cake that was loaded with alot of vanilla icing. He asked me if I was going to have a piece. I told him no thanks. I had been gluten-free too long. My youngest niece told me "oh come on Aunt Jerri it is just one time". I told her... -
My Brother was diagnosed with Celiac in Oct. 2005 and I was diagnosed in Nov. 2005. We have no idea where we got it from, because no one in our family has it. When he had his biopsy done his dr. told him that they did not even have to take a biopsy. That is how much damage he has. He had been having diarrhea for over 2 years and had not done anything...

ARCHIVED Your Personal Celiac/gluten Intolerance Story
Jerri Ward replied to emcmaster's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I started with depression when I was 12. The migraines started when I was 15. Along with the migraines came arthritis. I was always tired all of the time which I assumed was because of the depression. I finally was sent to a specialist who told me that I had Chronic Fatigue Symdrome. It was nice to know why I was tired, but there was nothing that could... -

Jerri Ward replied to Chicklet's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My Dietician told me that Kellogs Corn Flakes were gluten free. I was so happy because I was really missing cereal for breakfast. I have not had any problems with it at all. -
Do you Know Where You Got Celiac Diease From? My brother was diagnosed one month before I was. He had been having the big D for 2 yrs. before he went to the dr. I had been having all kinds of problems and had been to different drs. for about 7 mths. before being diagnosed. There is no one on my dads side of the family who has ever heard of it, so I...
