Sounds like some progress for you as well. Let me know what the conclusion is if there is a link to low vitamin C and Iron that's causing the splinter hemorrhages.

So far so good. I took the C and Iron for about 4 weeks daily. I stopped taking the iron for two days and then I went in to test my iron levels and my iron levels were perfect. As of this post I have not taken the C or Iron supplements in about 3 to 4 weeks and in that time I have not had any splinter hemorrhages, even small ones. So far so clear. Knock...

I use this company called solgar for the iron 25mg and the vitamin c 1000mg. They are gluten-free and formulated to be gentle on the stomach. They cost a bit more then what you might find at Walmart but I think it's worth it. Good luck to you. Let me know how it works.

Gaerty, I am glad to hear that you've ruled out the worst stuff. That at least helps clear any anxiety or worry you might have. I know that would clear up mine. I have good news! About three days ago my splinter hemorrhages cleared up 100%! The one that was on my right thumb was long and was there for about 2 to 3 months. I started taking this Vitamin...

Gaerty, thank you for sharing this with me! You want to know something crazy? The night before you sent this I was googling "vitamin deficiencies linked to splinter hemorrhages" and an article came up about vitamin C deficiency. I can't remember the last time I took vitamin C or drank orange juice or consumed anything that has vitamin C on a regular...

Hi all! Been coming to this forum since my diagnosis in October of 2016. Since my diagnosis it's been an up and down fight but I have more good days then bad ones now that I've been 5 months gluten free. Had a few accidents along the way but we keep going! Recently I noticed a black vertical line that comes from the middle of my nail shooting...

ARCHIVED Extreme Hunger....
Spencer88 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for the response Ennis! Yes I have noticed I'm eating around 400 to 500 less calories then what I used to eat not to mention on days that I would go out and eat at fast food places or restaurants. I've always tracked my foods (past 3 years) on MyFitnessPal. It's funny you mention that plant based protein shake. I just started drinking one of those... -
ARCHIVED Extreme Hunger....
Spencer88 replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know this was posted a long time ago but always good to follow up. I've been experiencing this extreme hunger at least once a week maybe once every other week. I was dx back in October of 2016 so fairly recently and I really didn't get a hold of this gluten free diet until mid November. So every now and again I'll notice the exact same symptoms mentioned... -
ARCHIVED Avocados?
Spencer88 replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
From my understanding spices have to label everything that is inside them if they have anything other then let's say garlic or paprika. All my spices are from McCormik. They should be gluten free. I've been using them for a while now with no issues. Garlic is actually supposed to reduce gas and bloat. Onion I'm not sure about onion. I've been using it a lot... -
ARCHIVED Avocados?
Spencer88 replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just stumbled upon this thread after eating some avocado myself. I had some pan seared chicken this evening. I used olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, pink salt, chopped onion, and some chopped garlic. I threw in some fresh broccoli with this as well. I heated the broccoli in the pan with the chicken after the chicken cooked through some. I had some brown... -
Just had my first series of blood work done by my GI doctor. She tested to see what my Alpha-1-Antitrypsin that came out normal. She tested my Magnesium levels, those were prefect. My vitamin D levels were very low at 16.7 out of a range of 30-100 ng/mL. I stated taking a 400 UI of vitamin D3 two weeks ago. Are these vitamin D levels something that takes...

ARCHIVED Elevated liver numbers
Spencer88 replied to Spencer88's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you all! Great information here! Just got back from my first GI visit. I am getting more blood work done this Friday to rule out other possibilities and to see whats going on with my liver now. I can say that I had a full abdominal ultrasound, back and front, radiologist reported everything looked normal there. My GI wants to run these tests: ... -
ARCHIVED First GI Doctor visit
Spencer88 replied to Spencer88's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi all! Thanks again for responding in on this topic. Sorry for the delay, been trying to find time to update this. I visited my GI doctor who I think is great! she was very thorough and let me ask a lot of questions. Of course she asked me many questions. I answered all of them to the best of my ability. She did mention how she wanted to do a...- 3 replies

ARCHIVED Elevated liver numbers
Spencer88 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi all! When I was first diagnosed with celiac at the beginning of October 2016 my liver numbers were elevated. They were around 63 and 150ish. My question are, has anyone else experienced elevated liver numbers when recently diagnosed with celiac, is that common? What are some things I can do to get those numbers back to normal? My birthday is in late... -
ARCHIVED First GI Doctor visit
Spencer88 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi all! Back in August of 2016 I started experiencing some crazy symptoms mostly started with fatigue and worked its way up to anxiety attacks along with moments in which I felt like my blood pressure was super low. I ended up going to my primary care doctor and he ran several tests. My white cell count was elevated, my liver numbers were 63 and 150ish (elevated...- 3 replies

Thank you Rowan13! My father was telling me that soups are probably the best way to go since you can get so many nutrients out of them quickly. I'm going to look up some Asian soups my self now and see what I can come up with. I love Asian foods, but a lot of those sauces are pumped with gluten. I have had baby bok choy once and I can't remember how it was...

Thank you all for taking the time to respond to me! Means a lot especially since I got diagnosed with Celiac 5 weeks ago. A lot has happened since I posted this. I am a Dad now. My first child was born November 4th. Its been challenging mostly since my energy levels are already depleted from the malabsorption that I continue to experience. Good...

Thank you all so much for taking the time to respond to me! Really means a lot I guess I'm going about this right and wrong. I thought that eating carbs such as rice, something simple like that would help reduce the diarrhea or at least change it to a normal stool. I just noticed that when adding veggies like carrots and spinach my stool became...

I was diagnosed with celiac on October 4th 2016. That day I switched my diet to gluten free everything. For a week or two after the diagnosis I felt alright. Anxiety was my worst symptom until recently. I haven't had a solid stool in about 8 to 10 days. I changed my cookware, sanitized my kitchen throughly, did just about everything I could prior to this...
