ARCHIVED Lymph Nodes
jaimek replied to ali786's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I actually had a couple of swollen lymph nodes. Had two in the groin area (one of which was removed and biopsied). I also used to get them under my arm too. Haven't had them since going gluten free (3 years now). Think there is a correlation? I never even thought about that! -
ARCHIVED What's The Latest On Introducing Gluten Before 6 Months?
jaimek replied to kjoe58's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am currently 4 months pregnant and I plan on breast feeding as long as possible. I asked my Gastro doctor (who's wife has Celiac and he specializes in it) when to introduce solids, including gluten. This was his response: Recent evidence suggests that breast feeding may lower the risk, so consider it. Reports vary as to the best timing of introducing... -
Okay, so my older brother has had the same exact symptoms as I have for years now (pain in his legs, diarrhea, constipation, headaches, etc.). My whole family got a blood test when I was diagnosed with Celiac, and they all came back negative. Since my brother is so thin and can't gain weight, and has all the same syptoms as I did, he decided to have an...

I actually got the answer that one of the ingredients could be derived from gluten, so they cannot say that Zofran is actually gluten free. With Phergran, I got the second answer, the one where they basically just cover their butts and tell you that they can't promise that there isn't any gluten that got in there from the air/surroundings while it was being...

jaimek replied to porterpotti's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I have tried numerous breads, and the only one that I can stand eating is Ener-G Tapioca Bread. It is sliced thin and you don't have to freeze it. -

ARCHIVED Oh Boy I Got A New Rash!
jaimek replied to lightningfoot speakin words's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I actually just recently broke out in the same type of rash. wondering if it was caused by something I wore? I have tiny little red bumps that started on my stomach and have moved to my chest, arms and legs. They itch like crazy too. I went to the dermatologist and he really had no clue what it was. He prescribed topical steroids, but I am pregnant and... -
ARCHIVED Going To Denver Tonight
jaimek replied to VegasCeliacBuckeye's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just got back from Denver and ate at Deby's twice!!! It was so good. First morning I had pancakes and french toast. The pancakes were unbelievable. Not gritty at all. My non-celiac husband even enjoyed them. The french toast was decent, but I would recommend the pancakes any day! I also had lunch there, a turkey club which was delicious. I bought... -
Well, I took Phergran this weekend to fly to Denver. Took a whole pill on the way and was completely out of it. Could barely even walk off the plane. I didn't get nauseaus though!!! Think it actually lasted in my system all weekend cause I was not sick once. I took a quarter on the way home and that did the trick without knocking me completely out. ...

Hello! I am currenlty in my 11th week of pregnancy and have been having very bad morning sickness that gets progressively worse as the day goes on. I saw my obgyn yesterday and he prescribed Zofran. Unfortunately, when I called Glaxo SmithKline, they informed me that Zofran is not gluten free. Does anyone have any other suggestions for nausea/vomiting...

ARCHIVED For Those With Gluten Tolerant & Intolerant Family Members
jaimek replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It is just my husband and I in the house. I have celiac and he doesn't. We have an entirely gluten free house. He is a lifesaver when it comes to my eating. He knows how hard it is to avoid cross contamination, so we just got rid of everything and started over. I don't think we really eat that much different, except he uses my gluten free bread for sandwiches... -

ARCHIVED When You Were Diagnosed
jaimek replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My symptoms were definitely sporadic. I had D every once in a while, but really severe (maybe once/twice a month). I also had numbness in my arms/legs, constant headaches, fatigue, weight loss, night sweats, and bruising. I saw a Neurologist, Eye doctor (for headaches), Family doctor, etc. I finally saw a Gastro dr. for severe indigestion and he diagnosed... -
ARCHIVED Passing Celiac On To Children
jaimek replied to jaimek's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
That's funny because I have Celiac but neither of my parents carry any of the genes that you are referring to. My brother and parents all had a blood test and endoscopy and they showed up with absolutely nothing. -
ARCHIVED Passing Celiac On To Children
jaimek replied to jaimek's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you Richard and Tarnalberry. I happen to agree with both of you. I also noticed that some of the others who posted have not been diagnosed for too long, so they may be behind in the research. I know that my doctor knows what he is talking about, and was of great help to me. I was hoping others could benefit from his expertise, and I appreciate you... -
ARCHIVED Passing Celiac On To Children
jaimek replied to jaimek's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow, I was just trying to help and everyone jumped down my throat! Are any of you guys doctors? or specialize and studied Celiac? You can take it or leave it, but my doctor is extremely knowledgable of the disease. He was stating those percentages as far as my situation is concerned. I have Celiac, but my intestines are completely healed (as I have been... -
Anyone ever eat at Mesa Fresh? If so, what did you get there? Is anything gluten free?
-
Hello! I thought some of you might benefit from the email that I recently received from my Gastroenterlogist. He specializes in Celiac, and is very familiar with the disease (especially because his wife has it). I wrote him an email not too long ago, asking the chances of me passing on Celiac to my unborn child. Here is his answer: You should not...

Well, I took another pregnancy test yesterday (on Day 46), and guess what? It was positive!!!!! I took anothere one just to make sure. I think I am still in shock. I just can't believe it. Going to be hard to keep it from everyone. We were out to dinner with 2 other couples last night and I was the only one not drinking. Everyone questioned me. Think...

I have no idea when I am expecting. Just saw the positive home pregnancy test. I have a doctor's appt. scheduled for the 24th of this month so I will find out for sure then. I can't believe it!!!! I am trying not to get my hopes up just in case the pregnancy test was wrong for some reason.

Hello! My OBGYN told me a couple of things to stay aware from when pregnant. I know that you are not supposed to have caffeine, alchohol (obviously), raw fish, un-pasteurized cheese, and nutri-sweet (not sure about this one)??? Is there anything else that you should avoid when pregnant?

Thank you all so much for your help! This is really boggling my mind. I was under a lot more stress a couple months ago and I got my prd then. Just doesn't make sense. I have been off the pill for 8 months and have never skipped a month. I am now on day 44, and still no prd. I took a pregnancy test last Friday and it is still negative. I really hope...
