  1. I too was misdiagnosed with IBS at first but then the doctor thought I should have an endoscopy just to make sure there was nothing going on inside me. When the results came back positive for Celiac I had my answer! I was also trying to think back to any tramatizing experiences that I might have had. I did have a hernia surgery but I think the hernia was...
  2. There is definitely a link between migraine headaches and gluten. Before being diagnosed, I had headaches every single day. At times they were so bad that I had to leave work and go home to lay down. After going gluten-free, I have yet to have a headache (except for when I don't eat for long periods of time). It is wonderful to be able to go through a...
  3. Well, I just got my test results to see if I am following the diet properly, and my doctor said that 2 of the 3 tests were negative and the 3rd was negative but borderline. SO EXCITED!!!! This means that my intestines have almost completely healed. Test results like that make it all seem worth while. Now I just wish that I could go back to eating gluten...
  4. That is so funny that you guys wrote this topic. I was just telling my fiance and my best friend that i feel like my tongue is getting in the way sometimes. That I feel like I am not talking correctly cause my tongue was acting funny. Like I had no control over it. They both laughed at me and told me I was losing it. I just forwarded this post to them...
  5. That would be great. Thanks!
  6. Can anyone provide me with a tasty (preferably easy) recipe for a pumpkin and/or apple pie crust? Pumpkin pie is my favorite and this will be my first season not being able to eat the real thing so any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't imagine Halloween/Thanksgiving without my pumpkin pie!

    ARCHIVED Don Pablos

I just went to dinner at Don Pablos in Moorestown, NJ last night and had a wonderful experience. I printed off the gluten-free items from their website and brought it with me to the restaurant. I didn't even have to tell the waitress anything about my disease since it was all spelled out on the menu and the items didn't need any substitutions. I got taquitos...
  8. It was very easy for me. I was put under and was completely asleep. They spray your throat with some stuff and then that was the last thing I remembered. I woke up and felt fine, a little groggy but that's it. I was up and ready to go in about 1/2 hour. No pain or discomfort at all afterwards. You will be fine. No worries
  9. Thank you all so much for your replies. I definitely have my ups and downs, but knowing that I am not alone helps a lot. I live in the Philadelphia area and I do belong to the Celiac group around here but they only meet twice/year and it isn't something where everyone talks freely. I think a support group would help to be able to talk to people but I don...
  10. I have been gluten-free for about 8 months now and I go in and out of severe depression. I really don't know which direction to turn anymore. I know people say that we should be thankful that this was caught early (I am 27) and that it isn't anything fatal but sometimes I can't seem to rationalize things that way. Noone else in my family has this and they...
  11. Well, it turns out that his endoscopy was negative for Celiac. I guess he doesn't have it. Noone in my family does. I am just the lucky one who has to live with this disease. Life is very frustrating/depressing.
  12. I agree it is great to have someone who is so supportive. I too have a wedding coming up and my fiance now eats practically all gluten-free since I was diagnosed. We are even having two seperate cakes at the wedding. One for all the guests and a gluten-free one for the two of us to feed to each other. Hopefully I will not have any problems at the wedding...
  13. Judy, thanks so much for your response. I thought it was weird for him to have the reflux since he didn't really show any symptoms of reflux. Very strange but hopefully the biopsy will show that he doesn't have celiac. I will let you know when we find out next week. I appreciate your help! I am going to print your response out and give it to my brother...
  14. I bought some Light and Fit Dannon yogurt since the ingredients looked okay, but I called before eating it just in case. Well, they told me that the only yogurt that they can guarantee is gluten-free is the plain or natural flavored yogurts (without any fruit added). She said the fruit has additives in it that might be from a gluten source so to be safe...
  15. My whole family had blood tests done to see if any of them had Celiac after I was diagnosed in Feb. My brother, mom and dad all came out negative. Since the blood tests are not always accurate and my brother has alot of the same symptoms that I had (headaches, diarrhea, weight loss, muscle aches, night numbness in limbs) he had an endoscopy done yesterday...
  16. I am not a big fan of any gluten-free pastas so I basically cut pasta out of my diet. The one kind I do like is Knotta Pasta. It is a rice pasta but it is not chewy at all and has great flavor/consistency. Other than that, I have not had any luck with gluten-free pastas and I have tried a lot of different kinds. Hope this helps!
  17. I chew Extra (made by Wrigley's) like it is going out of style and have never had a problem. My dietician actually recommended Wrigley's gum and said it was gluten-free. She specializes with Celiac. Hope this helps!
  18. So, I just got an email from TCBY. I had sent them an email directly through their webiste. Here is the response that I got: Thank you for your recent email message. The only TCBY soft-serve frozen yogurt flavors that specifically contain wheat, oats, barley, or ryie in the ingredients are as follows: Cheesecake, Chocolate malt, and Cookies and Cream...
  19. I use Grey Poupon without any problems. I called and was told it is gluten-free. It is owned by Kraft so they clearly list any gluten.
  20. I also ran into that once. I told the waitress that I could not eat anything with gluten in it, and followed it up with an explanation of what gluten was. Her reply was, "We don't cook with any gluten. You don't have to worry about it." I asked her if they used pasta, hamburger buns, etc. She said "yes, of course." People are just so ignorant.
  21. No, definitely know it was the mustard. I had been eating that same turkey all week and was fine. I don't eat breakfast so that was the first thing I ate all day and I drank water with it. Then, the only new thing I added was the mustard and I started feeling dizzy right after I finished eating it. So, I would be careful with mustard even though distilled...
  22. I didn't eat out. I packed my lunch and put the mustard in my turkey wraps.
  23. I know that Loreal color vive is gluten free (shampoo and conditioner). Also posted here somewhere is the fact that Pantene is as well. As far as lotion goes, I use Dove which is gluten-free (that goes for shower soap too). I am not sure about hand soap. Never thought about that one!
  24. So, I just ate lunch an hour ago and on my way back to work I started feeling dizzy and nauseaus. The only thing different that I had was Gulden's spicy brown mustard. So, I called to find out if it was indeed gluten-free (i checked the ingredients and it looked fine). The lady said that it is not. That it contains vinegar which is distilled but they...
  25. So, I take it that noone knows the answer to this question or to my question about the duck sauce/hot mustard packets in chinese restaurants???? Since noone knows those answers, does anyone know who I could ask/call that would be able to help us out????
