  1. Does anyone know if the ingredient "Vegetable Shortening" is gluten-free???
  2. I called the number for Gatorade (since I was getting light headed and dizzy while working out) and the woman said that all of their drinks are gluten free and she even asked me if I had Celiac. She seemed to be very aware of the disease.
  3. Rice and potatoes have a lot of carbs!!!!
  4. Jill- I have had that exact same problem (stiffness in my neck/shoulders) for the past couple of weeks now. I thought it was due to a gluten accident that I had when I was away on vacation, but that was almost 2 weeks ago. I know the symptoms can last for that long, but my neck still hurts. I know this probably sounds funny, but it feels like my head is...
  5. I am 27 years old and was diagnosed in February of this year. I had been to all sorts of doctors for migraines, tingling in my appendages, and finally saw my gastro dr. about horrible indigestion and he suggested an endoscopy. So, here I am, living in the Philadelphia area, and still learning new things about Celiac everyday. I have a great boyfriend,...
  6. I moved in with my boyfriend about a year ago (before i was diagnosed). I had bouts of diarrhea about once a month and we don't even have a fan in our bathroom!!! so, i always make a joke out of it. He is great with everything and knows when i don't feel well or accidentally ingest gluten. I just tell him not to go in the bathroom for a while. He just...
  7. Does anyone know if the duck sauce or mustard that you get at a chinese/japanese restaurant is gluten-free????
  8. This info was posted previously somewhere on this site but I live in philly and have a great gastro doctor. He is located in Jefferson Hospital and his name is Dr. Kastenberg. His wife has celiac so he knows all about it. Also has a dietician that he works with who specializes in celiac. His number is 215-955-8900.

    ARCHIVED Philadelphia Dr.

Yes, I live in the philadelphia area and I would have never known that I had this disease if it wasn't for my gastro doctor. He is really great. His name is Dr. Kastenberg and he works at Jefferson in center city. His phone number is 215-955-8900. His wife has the disease so he knows all about it and he also works with a dietician who specializes in Celiac...
  10. I wrote to Sargento and they informed me that all of their shredded cheeses are gluten free except for the taco and mexican cheeses (the ones that spices are added to). So, maybe the same goes for Kraft???
  11. OH NO!!!!!!!!! TCBY is/was my FAVORITE. I have been eating it all the time since going gluten-free and have not had a problem at all. I am pretty sure I have silent celiac since I don't have many symptoms but I thought all the ingredients were okay. Should I stop eating it? I am so upset right now. Oh no. Someone please tell me I don't have to stop...
  12. Any type of Wrigley's gum is gluten-free and the Dove body wash should be fine as well!
  13. Great news everyone!!!! I just heard about a new gluten free restaurant called Blue Fish Grill that has a gluten free menu. They are just opening up one in Willow Grove, PA near me and I am very excited about it so I figured I would share the news with all of you They are mostly located up and down the east coast with the majority of them in Florida...

  15. I spoke to the general manager of MAC and she told me that their makeup was gluten-free! I have not had any problems with it at all.
  16. So, I am very newly engaged (last night) and one of the first thoughts that went through my head was if I can find a gluten free cake. Does anyone have any experience with weddings? I am curious to know how you go about the catering and especially the cake. I have plenty of time but I figured I would get everyone's opinions/experiences so that I can...
  17. I am pretty sure that I had a gluten accident this weekend at a restaurant and have had horrible indigestion pain ever since Sunday. I remember reading somewhere on this board that Tums was not gluten-free. Does anyone know what type of medicine I can take for this? The pain is pretty bad. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  18. Loreal is gluten-free and always easy to find. I use the color care and the regular conditioner and all of my problems have gone away. I do use gluten free makeup (by chance) and all of my chapstick, toothpaste, etc is also gluten free. Just not sure about my lotions. Guess I should check on that one.
  19. Carol, I do not have DH and did not think I had to worry about those products either. After being gluten-free for about 2-3 months I started noticing my eyes getting very dry and crusted shut in the morning. I figured out that it was my shampoo that contained wheat. I had never had that reaction before going gluten-free, but I guess my body got more...
  20. Speaking of sprinkles, does anyone know if they (Jimmies/Sprinkles) are gluen free?
  21. I always had excessive night sweats but I thought it was caused by my dog who insists on laying on me every night. Hmmmm, wonder if it is celiac related?
  22. I had had numbness/tingling in my arms and legs for a while before i was diagnosed with celiac. Now that I am gluten free, I never get that sensation anymore. I did see a neurologist before knowing that I had Celiac and he didn't see anything wrong (although he didn't do any tests). How long have you been gluten free? The numbness should go away after...
  23. So, I looked and you guys are right, they are made by Wellshire Farms. Honestly, I tried them last night and did not think they tasted good at all. They weren't crunchy (I made them in the oven as directed) and they didn't really taste like chicken. So, needless to say, I was a little disappointed after getting so excited about finding them. If anyone...
  24. So, I went shopping for a few things at Whole Foods last night and as I was scanning the pre-made fish and chickens I spotted Gluten free chicken nuggets!!! I was so excited, I called everyone I know. Granted they are dinosaur shapes and made for kids, (I am 27) and I haven't tried them yet, but I left the store with a big smile on my face. They said...
  25. I live in the Philadelphia area and have been to Mr. Ritts. It is a bakery near 5th and South Street. I have tried the bread but don't like it. I buy my pizza crusts there. They are delicious!!! Other than that, I go to Outback, PF Changs, and sushi restaurants for the most part. I know that the Peking Duck at Margarate Kuo's in Wayne is gluten-free...
