I got home early and switched the tv on to Arthur (yes, I'm 22 years old and like Arthur
)
Binky was diagnosed with a peanut allergy! They showed him getting mad and sad and then Bionic Bunny came to him in a dream and told him about his salt allergy and that food allergies aree ok to deal with!
They showed him with an epi-pen when he was showing his friends, and his friends inspected Buster's food before they would let him near Binky!
They even addressed cross contamination in restaurants and a chinese restaurant that "uses special pans and everything!"
Way to go, Arthur!! They did it in a non-scary way and showed the trials and importance of serious food allergies.
Yay PBS!!!

I'm not diabetic, just rective hypoglycemic. I finally broke down and bought a glucose monitor....
AND OUCH!!!
It took four friggin' tries to get enough flippin blood to test! And I bought the teeny tiny amount monitor too...
I guess I was too cold to bleed, but two tries were after rubbing my hands together, washing with hot water, and clapping.
I don't know how y'all can handle testing several times a day...
I commend you

SOooOOooO you use the "Original Mix"? What recipe do you use?
And I thought Cheese was FAT not protien?
Thanks!!!
Fat and protein are good friends
...
Cheese has got a pretty good amount of protein in it, though I don't have numbers in front of me. I'm thinking at least 4 grams protein per ounce for most cheeses like mozzarella and cheddar. You can also get low fat cheese, but make sure it's the 2% kind, the fat free cheeses have a bunch of sugar and salt and crap in them.
I use the original mix and add cheese as they reccomend and follow the on-the-bag instructions for pizza. DH has gotten so used to it that he thinks normal pizza tastes wierd.
We love Chebe pizza crust.... think i'll make one today. Yum! Which mix did you use for the breadsticks?I think I used the onion/garlic mix for breadsticks. Stripey green bag, I think, but not the pizza one.

Almost all adults have had mono, but many don't get symptoms. Why not check to see if you have mono? It causes the lymph node swelling and screws with your digestive tract. Just a thought.
-
also on a another reverse, my lymp nodes on my chest right before my arm connects are swollen and it hurts to lift my arms up. also my stools are now coming up in 2 colors its half bright green and half regular brown, i dont know whats happening 2 days ago i was having regular movements finally and now its all back to the way it was, as for hygene products im really carefull not to get any into my mouth. i use swave shampoo as its cheap but im carefull not to get it into my mouth
Have you ever had mono?
-
Heeeeey Chesle, my good teacher LOL How does that work out with your hypostuff? Not see this stuff around but if it can put pizza on the menu, ILL FIND IT!!!!
Luckily, cheese has protein
and so does pepperoni
and sausage
I make pizza every Friday to help me keep my sanity!
If I ate nothing but the breadsticks, I would have a problem, but in conjunction with spaghetti and meat sauce, it works fine.
Seriously, I personally find that after lunch and into the evening, most of my hypoglycemia stuff is under control, it's in the morning mostly that I personally have problems if I'm not careful. Actually, I pretty much just snack all day and eat smaller portions at lunch and dinner. With the exception of my chebe binge
I don't deny myself anything, I just don't do anything dumb like eat sugar coated donuts for breakfast (I never liked donuts anyway). My college roomate used to eat pop tarts and mountain dew for breakfast, just watching her eat it made me nauseous! That combination first thing in the morning would have killed me!
Here's a list of places in TN that carry Chebe stuff: Open Original Shared Link
My local Wild Oats carry it. I use the red bag for pizza (it really is better than the pizza mix) and the breadstick mix for breadsticks. And for gluten-free, it's not very expensive, I think it's like $3.95 a bag here. The pizza makes like a real size thin crust pizza, too. Not like the dinky kinnikinnick expensive crusts!

I made spaghetti for dinner and made Chebe breadsticks to go along with them.
OH MY GOD THEY ARE SO GOOD!!!!!
Crusty on the outside and airy and chewy on the inside...almost like real bread!
I added the cheese and baked them on a baking stone (on parchment)
DH and I (ok, mostly me) snarfed all 10 of them.
I make pizza with chebe mixes every week, so I knew how awesome those were, but the breadsticks...
Heaven

when i was eating apple sauce alot it really smelled like it lol. but i guess as a update on the stooledge, they have changed again but now to a really really dark color like not a normal shade really dark dark brown. i think this may be healthy? i dont know i have always been overweight until now and used to eat burger king 3 meals a day because it was free, so i dont really know what a real movement should look like?
If it's really dark you might want to get an occult blood stool test done to make sure you're not bleeding internally...

I had the same issue with my drs. One thought I had it, another thought I did not. My best advice would be to see another dr. and get another opinion. The whole diet thing about immediately feeling better also was confusing bc it took me a while to feel better, or to realize what feeling good actually was. Ask to see your records if you haven't already, then you can ask specific questions about what things really are. In my case, my second dr. was not interpreting the biopsy correctly, therefore it was plainly obvious why he though I did not have it, bc he was interpreting a Chrone's disease biopsy and not the celiac one. Crazy! Good luck and just explore your options when it comes to drs. Your best doctor is yourself!
My endoscopy was 2 years ago and they only did one biopsy, and only in the actual stomach. He was checking for cancer, celiac wasn't mentioned, and I had never heard of it. That GI is in another state, so I'd have to find a new one.
She said to stay on prilosec because I still have burning. It seems to work as long as I am gluten-free, so no worries there. It's just annoying.
I have all of my medical records, and I was the one that sent my dr records, since the old GI's office is uncooperative. The endo showed long term stomach irritation, and he didn't go past the lower sphincter in the stomach.
I'm assuming celiac until I'm diagnosed otherwise, but I'm going to do a big challenge in a week or so.

Those are by Ener-G, I've never tried them, though.
You could smash her animal cookies (kids are so cute!
) and then toast them in the oven to make them more sandy, or maybe mix some cinnamon and sugar into them to make them darker.
Actually, that sounds a whole lot better than graham crackers!!!

From their FAQ:
Gluten?
Most of our ice creams are gluten-free. However, the chocolate crunchies that are found in our ice cream cakes and the sprinkles put on top are not gluten-free. If you contact a Carvel retail store nearest you, they will be more then happy to substitute the crunchies for something else, such as fudge. They will also be more then happy to not put any sprinkles on the cake. Included below is a list of our gluten-free ingredients:

I made that for DH last Saturday. It's very tasty, but I warn you, you need at least a 10" springform. Or even 2 9" ones, it's a huge batter!
But again, very tasty! We're still working on eating all of it!

Why I oughta...
Tell you what...we'll send you black market chinese sauces and dips and you can send us gluten-free Lea & Perrins.
LOL!!! You got it! Why is it shipping $4 sauce is $12? It's $11 in most of the country, but lucky me, I'm in Texas

Ok, ok... flax meal then. :-) In combination with gluten-free hot cereal. Most gluten-free dry cereals are just too carb-y for me. :-(
I eat the gluten-free dry cereals as dessert at night most of the time. My blood sugar problems are usually just in the morning after eating.
Mmmm....cereal
The lundberg hot rice cereal is good, and I agree on the flaxmeal for that. It's tasty...well, as long as it's flavored well enough
Caffene may or may not play into your hypoglycemia. If it's in moderation (ie: 2 cups of coffee a day when you're eating something) you're probably ok. Remember that caffiene makes your system run faster, including processing sugars.
-
Even if you inhale it through your nose, your sinuses drain into your stomach...ergo, gluten problem.
I'm sure that would be a VERY delayed reaction, however.
-
DH said I'm sick enough without being around sick people all the time. Even though most hospice patients are not contagious, he has a point. I need to get myself straightened out before I can care for others...
So it is something I REALLY want to do, but it will probably have to wait until I've got my own health back...
I do think it'll give me extraordinary perspective, however.
(yes, I'm wearing a bat costume

Snopes.com did a piece on this chain email:
!!! BREAD IS DANGEROUS !!!Research on bread indicates that:
1. More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users.
2. Fully HALF of all children who grow up in bread-consuming households score below average on standardized tests.
3. In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged whole nations.
4. More than 90 percent of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread.
5. Bread is made from a substance called "dough." It has been proven that as little as one pound of dough can be used to suffocate a mouse. The average American eats more bread than that in one month!
6. Primitive tribal societies that have no bread exhibit a low incidence of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, and osteoporosis.
7. Bread has been proven to be addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water to eat begged for bread after as little as two days.
8. Bread is often a "gateway" food item, leading the user to "harder" items such as butter, jelly, peanut butter, and even cold cuts.
9. Bread has been proven to absorb water. Since the human body is more than 90 percent water, it follows that eating bread could lead to your body being taken over by this absorptive food product, turning you into a soggy, gooey bread-pudding person.
10. Newborn babies can choke on bread.
11. Bread is baked at temperatures as high as 400 degrees Fahrenheit! That kind of heat can kill an adult in less than one minute.
12. Most American bread eaters are utterly unable to distinguish between significant scientific fact and meaningless statistical babbling.
In light of these frightening statistics, it has been proposed that the following bread restrictions be made:
1. No sale of bread to minors.
2. A nationwide "Just Say No To Toast" campaign, complete celebrity TV spots and bumper stickers.
3. A 300 percent federal tax on all bread to pay for all the societal ills we might associate with bread.
4. No animal or human images, nor any primary colors (which may appeal to children) may be used to promote bread usage.
5. The establishment of "Bread-free" zones around schools.
Of course these claims are false...you can read about it here:

head tingly, hard to type...soooooo cold
146 one hour after eating....
Normal ranges (I'm reading) for TWO hours after a meal is below 120, wait an hour and see how you are
I just did my 2 hour test (OW! Darn finger prick!) and it was 93
I'll defer to the diabetics who know what the hell they're talking about.

I have to say I disagree with Tiffany about bringing up non-diabetic hypoglycemia. I will emphasize that I drink coke, juice, syrup, whatever just to bring me out of the crash. I stress that eating something with carbs and protein immediately after coming out of the crash is essential.
It's not that I'm against eating mid-crash, I'm just not able to. My appetite is so incredibly low and I'm so nauseated that liquids are all I can stomach. Everyone is different though, I just can't stomach anything but sugary liquids mid crash.
Any update, Vincent?

Bought some peanuts and envirokids bars in case Im successfull in crashing LOL
I'm telling you, a coke or a juice box is your best friend during a crash. Eat the peanuts and (the amazingly sugary) envirokids bars after you get your sugar levels up a bit, but you're going to find it a challenge to eat ANYTHING, mid-crash.
If you're testing the crashing tomorrow morning, go to sonic first and get ye a coke
JMHO

I love chipotle and it is usually fine for me. Last week however, not. Had some and could tell almost immediately that something was wrong. Guess I got some cross-contaminated. Do folk usually ask them to change gloves then??
I ask them to change gloves most of the time, although I've never been glutened there. I only get the bol, not the tacos, so it doesn't make a huge difference. If I got the tacos I'd definitely make them change gloves. They also use their hands to serve up lettuce and cheese, so there is a cc risk there. I always get mine without lettuce or cheese. As always, buyer beware!

Silly question, but have you been drinking gatorade or kool-aid that's blue or green or purple? I've had that happen where it'd be totally green, or even blue! The blue was after way too much blue fratboy punch and jello...
Other than that, it could be that your system is working too fast, and the bile (which is green) is moving through really quickly.
