  1. ok, so one of the top 5 hardest things for me to give up were tyson's buffalo chicken strips...anyone have a good recipe? or know of a brand i can buy? It has to be boneless strips, not wings...i cant stand meat with bones. thanks! angie
  2. i would keep on your chief about him checking with the chef. i was in 2 weddings this year, plus a banquet at church...and i made sure the people in charge knew what gluten free meant, and they all had the chef's make gluten-free meals for me...and i was not glutened at any of them...in fact, one of the weddings, the head chef really knew what he was talking...
  3. i am almost positive metamucil is gluten free cuz i looked at taking it at one point during my pregnancy, but then we went with colace instead...someone correct me if i'm wrong though. angie
  4. hmmm...i think i will really have to see what happens with my narcolepsy and gluten free diet after i deliver this baby. i have only been gluten free since last february, and got preg in july...and have had a pretty miserable pregnancy in terms of pain and nausea...so its been hard to say if my gluten-free diet is healing anything...i am looking forward...
  5. so i have not been officially diagnosed with celiac...as i "flunked" the blood tests and biopsies...but my GI doc said my insides "looked" like i had it, and we might have just "missed" with the biopsies...but i feel better gluten free, and am not about to go back on a gluten diet just to do another endoscopy...and my doc agrees with me. so, what i'm wondering...
  6. when i was 5 1/2 weeks pregnant with this baby (i'm 34 weeks now) i had the same kind of pains that you are describing. i ended up going to the ER to get checked (after calling my midwife on call) and they did an ultrasound and saw the baby (really just the yolk sac at that point) in the uterus, and saw nothing in the tubes...so chances of an eptopic pregnancy...
  7. i am 34 weeks pregnant, and in a similar boat...i know our hospital's dietary dept understands something of the gluten free diet as when i called to ask about eating a hamburger there (my mom works at the hospital and i sometimes lunch with her), they said the hamburger was gluten free and they even had rice buns if i asked for one! it was delicious...but...
  8. i'm wondering if my stylist will let me bring in my own shampoo and stuff...i've been going to her since i was 9...and she runs an aveda salon...so she cant order in anything besides aveda. hmmmm...i'm due for a hair cut this month...ughhhh. i usually dye my own hair though, and have always gotten itchy while its in...always permanant dye...and i've been...
  9. i eat fritos with no problem...and also cool ranch doritos...its just the nacho cheese flavor that has gluten. i am pretty sure i got glutened by annie's gluten-free mac -n cheese the last time i had it...i got an itchy throat...but i hadnt been prior to that box...so maybe it was just a contaminated batch? angie
  10. oh no...are you kidding me?!?!?! i use aveda products exclusively...do you know what else of theirs contains gluten? what about their lipsaver chapstick? please tell me thats clean...it the only chapstick thats ever worked to keep my lips from cracking, and wont completely demolish my oboe reeds if i forget to wipe it off before i play...*freaking out...
  11. oh, i guess i didnt realize it was a whole store. i just thought i had seen that brand at whole foods, and thought thats what the lists were for. my bad thanks angie
  12. so umm...if there's west coast and east coast lists, what do us midwesterners use? i'm in WI. thanks, angie
  13. so um, i've been basically gluten-free for a year now...with one trial period to see if it really was gluten vs. dairy, and found out its most likely gluten that makes me sick. i tested neg for celiac, but my GI doc said other than that, my insides "looked" like i was celiac. so he thought maybe we just missed with the biopsies. anyways, i never really...
  14. thank you...i will have to look for those. oh and i do know that not all natural flavors are bad, i just have been craving beef jerky so bad with this pregnancy lately, i didnt want to take the time to research this time if i could find some brands that were already researched. thank you though angie
  15. Does anyone know any gluten free beef jerky brands? I've really been craving some these last few days, and most say "natural flavors" thanks, angie
  16. thats really nice! its great when a restaurant is so helpful and everything. btw...you use la choy soy sauce??? it was my understanding that that brand isnt gluten-free...or am i wrong??? angie
  17. so um, what are "novel" foods...sorry if thats a dumb question. but i am on zantac...fairly high doses right now for the horrendous reflux i am having with my pregnancy...and i have been wondering if i am developing new food allergies right now as i have been getting a slightly ticklish throat the last couple of days...but it could also be the acid doing...
  18. according to my mainstream foods gluten-free list, old el paso taco season is gluten-free...i hope so anyways, thats the one I use all the time angie
  19. Hi, i'm fairly new to this forum, and i have a question. I'm not a diagnosed celiac as i "passed" the blood test and the biopsies, but my GI doc thinks i'm either one of the 2% who has celiac and never tests positive, or i am just gluten intolerant. now what i am wondering is, when i was first finding out about gluten intolerance, i had mostly D and...
  20. i'm currently 33 weeks pregnant with baby #1...a little boy named peyton. I am gluten intolerant for sure, came back negative for celiac even though my GI doc said my insides looked very much like i have it. either way, i just avoid gluten. i get an itchy throat if i have any now. anyways, i've been sick and kinda miserable throughout my pregnancy...
  21. thank you...i just might have to break down and make them myself...i wish there were frozen ones...i miss lachoy's egg rolls angie
  22. hi, i'm new to the site...i am gluten intolerant, but technically not celiac...although my GI doc thinks i might be one of the 2% that is actually celiac and never tests positive. anyways, i was wondering if anyone has found a gluten-free egg roll or spring roll? I am really missing them...and of course now its become one of my cravings in pregnancy...
