  1. I research corn, and am an active corn avoider as I have a corn allergy myself. So studying where corn gets into stuff is a majorly important part of my life. Cross-reactivity: "A high degree of cross-reactivity has been demonstrated among the LTP's of maize, peach, apple, walnut, hazelnut, peanut, rice, and apricot.9,44,45 Not all LTP's from plants...
  2. Wheat, Diary, Soy and Corn-free is extremely hard to do. Especially corn. I'd suspect that maybe you're still getting corn in your diet and that may be causing issues? Rice is a common problem btw for people with a corn allergy (unsure if you're intolerant or allergic?). Some rice is coated with corn which is often considered a processing aid and not...
  3. Are you naive? Yes and no. Its possible that her solid stools are too solid and thus constipation which can be caused by food allergies and/or celiac. And yes, generally there are other problems such as rashes, fussiness, breathing problems, failure to thrive, etc that accompany allergic reactions and celiac. Its really hard to say what the problem is...
  4. What you're describing sounds like an allergic reaction. The anxiety, itchiness, and paranoia.. you probably had an increased heartrate as well. That it went away with Benadryl is also a good sign that it's allergy and not an intolerance, deficientcy, or candida. Candida gets blamed for a lot of things btw, and there are two camps of view on Candida....
  5. Thanks for the topic recommendation I'll check it out. I never know what name EE/EGID/EOS its going by. I know that the symptoms of EGID are serious, just ask anyone who suffers from them. But then ask anyone with severe IBS or Fibro, about how serious it gets. My comment was not about severity, but that doctors don't know what it is, what exactly causes...
  6. That is a very good idea. Please keep us posted on how things are going. Until then, keep your medicine cabinet stocked with antihistamines.
  7. Elaine - I don't believe young children are picky eaters for no reason, especially if it started since he was a baby. There is usually a reason why young children refuse foods, like one poster mentioned Aspergers, but it could be a lot of other issues. Given the family history you mentioned, most likely what you're looking at is a hidden food allergy...
  8. That is just amazingly thoughtful and touching. Thank you for sharing.
  9. Yummy Earth also makes a lollipop that is gluten-free. Actually its nearly all allergy-free as its corn-free, milk-free, egg-free, etc and so on. You can get them at amazon .com.
  10. Your symptoms are definately that something is affecting your immune system. It could be something simple as a food allergy (IgE &/or IgG) that you're unaware of, or could be celiac, or thyroid (if you're in your 30's you should probably have this tested just in case), or diabetic issues. With your family history of an aunt intolerant to gluten...
  11. I used Immunolabs. Their website will give you numbers to call to find someone who does it locally. I think its immunolabs.com They were extremely accurate for me.

    ARCHIVED Big Rant!

Its possible you did have adrenal fatigue. Everytime you eat someting you're allergic to, your body pumps full of adrenals. If you're constantly eating your allergens your body is going to suffer adrenal fatigue from having to be on alert 24/7. I'm glad you're feeling better. It's amazing isn't it?
  13. You're going to have yoru best luck with getting corn-free advice by going to Open Original Shared Link There is a list of corn-free foods there (you'd have to check them for gluten-free, but its a place to start).

Its possible that Pilgrims Pride is good, but you'd have to contact teh manufacturer to know and even then they may "deny it".. many of us just don't trust companies to give us the correct information, and have gone to using human testing as the basis for guaranteeing something free of corn. We first check with the company, and if the company says "Corn...
  15. I didn't realize you were in Canada. So yeah, as far as Milk goes you're screwed, because as I understand it in Canada milk has to be fortified or its illegal. And the fortifications are soy or corn based. There are a couple Canadians on Delphi - Avoiding Corn forum and they may be able to give you more Canadian based survival tips. I've actually had...

    ARCHIVED Big Rant!

Citric acid is never labeled. Its considered a processing aid and used to clean the meat. Since its not an "additive" it doesn't have to be labeled. From a corn standpoint, I've had terrible luck with any fresh store-bought chicken other than Foster Farms.
  17. If you can find Organic Valley milks, all are corn-free except those produced at the “55 1224” plant. This includes their fortifications. Also at Costco, Kirkland Signature Organic Milk is supposed to be corn-free as well including vitamins (though one person did react to it). (I don't do milk so I have to rely on others for this info) Vitamins... Ch...
  18. I had to laugh at this. I love the heat too. Gimme heat. My husband has always been warm blooded and he loves to turn the air conditioning on so its like 60-70 in here. I'm always turning it up to about 80. I also love it when its like 100 outside.
  19. Helena, I wish I had answers for you. For me, it was getting rid of all my food allergens (slight allergies included). Honestly I wouldn't have been able to do it without Immunolabs IgG and IgE testing. Most of my allergy issues were corn related. As long as I keep off of corn, my airborne allergies are pretty non-existant. If I start to have allergy...

    ARCHIVED Big Rant!

Foster Farms is corn-free and corn-free chicken is hard to find. I haven't heard of regular salt being an intolerance. With corn, its only salt with iodine added thats the problem. Regular kosher salt and sea salt should be corn-free as long as iodine isn't added. However, I should tell you that Foster Farms does have kosher salt in it. Kosher meat...
  21. Glad I could help. Somedays I never know if I'm helping or just getting labeled "That crazy corn lady".. Somedays I wonder myself.
  22. I know this stuff can just consume us, let alone having 3 kids on top it. There is another woman on Delphi-Avoiding Corn who has 3 children as well, and her youngest she hasn't figured out all the allergy issues either. She was just today sounding off about all the stress. I honestly don't know how you two do it. Things will get easier as you get answers...
  23. Knowing where to start isn't easy. Keeping a food diary is going to be a good idea. I'd also recommend that you see a doctor for testing. Even if its just the Celiac panel, to rule it out. It sounds like you're thinking you're having delayed reactions? If so, an IgG foods test might be of a lot of help, as delayed reactions are hell to pinpoint. ...
  24. My background.. I have been suffering with allergies ever since I can remember (aprox age 3-4 if not before) and at age 4 I started on antihistamines. I had been on daily antihistamines since (plus any other allery med you can think of) up until my corn allergy discovery 2 yrs ago, and then it took til last december to realize the meds were doing more harm...
  25. Zyrtec does have a stronger antihistamine than the Benadryl. However with both, ready to purchase options have some corn in them. If your son has less hives off of the Zyrtec, then you may want to seek out other options such as compounding. All the issues I've heard so far can be caused by food allergens, and there are many many more babies being born...
