  1. Hershey's contains corn (that abbreviation thing on the ingredients) which I noticed that you're sensitive to lectins (lectins are in corn) so that could be it.
  2. I'd beware of the xanthum gum. it is most likely grown on corn. Depending on how sensitive your daughter is, it could cause some real problems.
  3. Bedwetting has many causes. It can be hidden allergies/intolerances (not necessarily gluten related) which cause her to sleep through the inner "alarm bells" that wake the rest of us up. It can be caused by emotional trauma. Sexual abuse. Physical problems. muscle/bladder problems.. multiple things. I agree with the others, have her physically...
  4. He could be reacting in the diaper area due to allergens in his waste. Zyrtec has corn in it. Many corn allergic children cannot take it as the corn in it outweighs teh benefit of the antihistamine. Many have to have benadryl compounded special. Try Benadryl Dye-free alcohol-free in the meantime. Wipes can also be a problem as well as the diapers...
  5. Glad to hear you got some results. Corn, oats, and rice are all grass seeds. Corn rarely shows up, so pay attention to that one even if the blood test shows negative. Corn can cause a lot of the same symptoms as gluten-intolerance, just somethign to tuck in your mind incase his test results for gluten are negative and he doesn't have the gluten-gene. Btw...
  6. You could have reactions to the sugar. Most sugar is cane (in the USA) or corn (syrups n stuff). Both are in the same family as wheat, and gluten grains. Its possible that you're cross-reacting.
  7. What you're describing sounds like food allergy addiction, and just keep avoiding the problem foods (gluten) and you'll outgrow it. Its only been a couple weeks and your body is still healing. You probably spent many years eating things that were bad for you unknowingly and your body got used to it, and the chemicals those reactions produced. Subconsciously...
  8. Honestly, the only thing you're doing is convincing me that its allergy related. I'm really concerned. The fact that the hayfever medication (antihistamine) is helping .. is just more proof. I get migraines from my food allergies too. I used to get them all the time. Nothing helped, until I finally (due to other symptoms) found out that it was food...
  9. You may want to look into low-carb cookbooks as well. Like South Beach diet oriented cookbooks. Often they'll have great ways to make meals without starches. Protien is more filling anyway. They're pretty easy recipes to "alter" to gluten-free as well, plus they're really easy and cheap to find anymore at second-hand bookstores. Also eating more protien...
  10. I'm sorry to hear you're having such problems. I just happened to be bored and looking around and found your post. What you're describing doesnt' sound like typical migraine symptoms. Not that your head doesn't hurt, because I'm pretty certain you've wanted to chop it off to dull the pain. Gagging, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and expecially acne...
  11. I've had very good luck with Immunolabs. They do IgG and IgE testing and were very accurate for me. (Though they don't test for blueberry IgE) They test for 119 foods I think it is. Keep in mind that no one tests for every single food. So if your results come back as sensitive to a particular food, you may want to look it up in the food families and...
  12. Corn has a habit of not showing up on tests and is only accurately diagnosed through diet. No harm in testing for it, but don't get shocked if it doesn't show up. If it does show up in any amount of reaction, pay close attention to it. I'd have him tested for anything you think might be a problem. Grains, tomatoes, oranges, soy/legumes (btw he could...
  13. The syrup has cane, corn, artificial flavors, and glycerin (which could be numberous things)
  14. You can develop an allergy at any time.. but it seems severe diseases often are a catalyst.. Not a cause.. but a catalyst.. Such as someone might have been fine eating the equivalent of 2 cups of wheat with no problems (over 2 cups they might have gotten stomach cramps or runny nose.. which they just ignored) before they got sick. After they got sick...
  15. Sorry to hear you're having such issues. Have you been tested for IgE food allergies? Namely, corn, wheat, rice, grains etc. (cane sugar is a close relative of all these btw), beans/legumes, nightshades? From what you've listed as foods you can and cannot eat... it sounds a lot like my lists of foods. Though most of mine is due to avoiding corn...
  16. ok.. I've been doing some research and well.. I'm not sure how helpful this is going to be. But well I'll share it anyway. First there is Concomitant foods. Aka foods that make other allergies worse or can cause you to react to other things. Open Original Shared Link Grass allergies: Legumes, Beans, Peas, Soybean, Cottonseed. I'm not certain how...
  17. I'd be interested in knowing more about the allergic test results from your sons testing. You said a few of them took days to heal? Any idea which ones those were? The fact that your son is allergic to all grasses makes him a good candidate to be allergic to grass grains. Doesn't mean he needs to go gluten-free, but does mean that you should probably eliminate...
  18. Great to hear you're doing better.. or at least not so itchy.
  19. I like it too.. Gives more perspectives than just one. Its great especially since everyone's experiences with these things are always different.
  20. I've heard the "its stress" thing before too. But thats not my blog. Thats the blog of another writer on the No Corn blog.
  21. Deb - Its not unusual to only react to processed corn. Though it could be a sign of two things.. A. You're only allergic to ripe corn (type of corn used for processed corn) or B. you're allergic to sulfites in which processed corn is treated with sulfites before processing. Either way, its an avoid corn problem. There is also a debate on how much corn...
  22. Something you may not know ... Iodized salt has corn in it. They use dextrose (corn) to bind the iodine to the salt. A lot of corn allergic people react to it. If you want to learn more about avoiding corn, go to the link at the bottom of my signature. There are several links there that can help you.
  23. I'd hate to tell your doctor he's wrong about the bumps.. but we've been discussing this on Delphi Avoiding Corn and several of us get it as a symptom of getting into something we're allergic to.. aka allergic reaction, much like breaking out with acne can be because of allergies. My bumps only went away when I switched laundry soaps. They come back now...
  24. Its possible you are. I don't know how much "corn" you're avoiding but several of the foods you mentioned that you eat can contain small amounts of corn which might be causing the headaches. Now I don't want to discourage you by eliminating more foods for you, but there are generally substitutes so the food isn't eliminated you just have to be picky about...

I wouldn't blame all generics for a bad reaction to one. A lot of brand name medications have just as many allergens as the generics. It just depends on what you're allergic to. If you have food intolerances/allergies, and you're doing fine on one medication, you need to read the package insert information before switching to any other medication. Even...
