I've heard that Kirkman labs is good at handling allergies & vitamins. They make a calcium powder. Might be worth checking out. www.kirkmanlabs.com -
ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Simply-V replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I wrote an article about immunizations as we discussed this on my corn forum and a lot of the parents claimed their children got phenominally worse after recieving shots. Open Original Shared Link There are a couple links there that may be helpful. I've never been a big believer in the "Flu Vaccine". I suppose if you're deathly afraid of the flu... -
ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum, Soy Lecithin, Citric Acid
Simply-V replied to a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
It depends on your sensitivity. If you are having problems and want to heal fully, then don't chance the Xathan. You can always add it back later and test it. Most of the people that I talk to find they do better without the Xanthan gum. You will hear from companies all the time that "blank" is so processed it no longer is an allergy problem. But when... -
ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum, Soy Lecithin, Citric Acid
Simply-V replied to a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Oops I totally forgot about the alcohol. Most vodka's will say which they come from. Luksusowa is the only potato vodka brand that I know the name of. If you can't find where it says, don't buy it. A lot of vodkas are made from wheat, rye, etc which I don't know about gluten-status on those. -

You can split the bean. I just cut the beans in half. If I want somethign a bit more "vanilla" such as something I want to really taste like vanilla (as opposed to the vanilla in a chocolate cake per se) then I'll squeeze a bit of the goop (seeds) from inside the bean into what I'm making or cut the bean in half and scrape some out. I don't remove my beans... -
ARCHIVED Chocolate Makes Me Depressed!
Simply-V replied to covsooze's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Honestly it sounds like you're allergic to chocolate. Dark chocolate is usually more concentrated cocoa bean. So you end up getting more actual chocolate in your system, which bounces your body up to a headache level of reaction rather than taking care of it more silently leaving you with a depression aftermath. Your body is trying to tell you to... -

Laura - I can't wait to hear what happened and what news you have. JulieM - Glad you liked that link. You might also enjoy this one: Open Original Shared Link Its a bit more accurate on genetically similar plants/foods so you'll know which ones will probably cause a cross-reactivity problem first. Aka if you're allergic to corn also watch for... -
There are delayed allergic reactions as well so it could be anything within 48 hours. However most likely it is an immediate reaction which would be something you've eaten within the last 6 hours. I have delayed reactions to peppers which generally occur around 8-12 hours later. I'd recommend keeping that food journal. You'll find it eventually.

Andrea, I'd really recommend you stay off all the IgG positive foods for at least 4 months. let your body heal. A lot of your foods are very genetically similar, so I'm afraid your body will take its energy it used on the High IgG which you're now avoiding and put all its efforts on the low IgG. Your doctor probably doesn't want to overtax you and... -
ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum, Soy Lecithin, Citric Acid
Simply-V replied to a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I don't believe the Bourbon one is safe.. Frontier makes an alcohol-free vanilla which I believe is still safe. Its pretty expensive so I've just gotten to make my own. 2 cups Vodka (potato vodka - Luksusowa) and 2 vanilla beans - let sit 4-6 weeks before use. Btw the homemade vanilla makes a pretty good vodka on ice drink. -
ARCHIVED Xanthan Gum, Soy Lecithin, Citric Acid
Simply-V replied to a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I have allergies to corn and friends who have allergies to soy. None of these are safe. Xanthan Gum - is grown on corn/corn sugars. It is supposed to be processed so much that no corn is left, yet many people react to it. Citric acid: This is made from corn. Despite its processing corn protiens are still present. It is a huge problem. Soy Lecithin... -
ARCHIVED Food Allergy Skin Test...
Simply-V replied to JenKuz's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Delayed reactions aren't unheard of, nor as rare as one might think. Eczema is allergy related in itself. Its possible you have delayed relations. Delayed reactions are usually mediated by IgG, where as the skin prick tests are for IgE mediated allergies. Basically speaking, your reaction was probably IgG and won't show up on an IgE test. That said... -
You have been through a lot. Like CarlaB I'm assuming your tests for Celiac were positive or do you not have those results? You may also want to get tested for food allergies as the symptoms can often be similar as both can cause malabsorbtion which is the actual culprit of a lot of the symptoms. I'm sorry to hear of your struggle with doctors. ...

ARCHIVED Anyone Have Trouble With Corn Too?
Simply-V replied to mindypal's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
There are quite a few Celiacs/gluten intolerant that are allergic to corn. Fortunately I just have a corn allergy. Symptoms with corn allergy can vary from person to person. Indigestion is a common one as well as hives, bloating, swelling, angioedema, itchy, rashes, loss of coordination, brain fog, confusion, disorientation, dizziness, headaches, migraines... -
ARCHIVED What Came First Corn Allergy Or Gluten Free Diet Filled With Corn Additives?
Simply-V replied to a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Have you gotten a "gluten" diagnosis? Because it could just be corn. Often when first going gluten-free, people cut out a lot of corn from their diet. They start eating more meats and veggies which have less corn in them, and cut down on carbs. They stop eating pre-made packaged foods which have a lot of corn in them. Your body adjusts.. when you... -
Just so you know.. Hershey bars also have corn in them.

ARCHIVED Other Causes For Flattened/blunting Of Villi?
Simply-V replied to Lisa's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I did a google search for "intestinal villi damage cause" and found several sites talking about paracites, viral infections, and bacterial infections. However, the most interesting was this Open Original Shared Link Which states "Gluten triggers an abnormal immune response and causes the villi of the small intestine to become flattened and altered... -
Yeah you do need to just stop it. I know its hard. I'm not on any meds for PCOS. I was diagnosed with it just as I started corn-free. Doc wanted to do diet change first (South Beach) and see if my results stablized or went down. South Beach itself didn't do much good, but my test results didn't get worse so Doc wanted to try it longer. It took a...

Actually it can be physical addiction. Eating things we're allergic to..our bodies react with a shot of adrenaline to fight it. Its easy to be addicted to that, and for physical cravings to manifest. And the only way to break the addiction is to avoid it completely, detox, and stay away. Overtime the physical addiction symptoms will lessen and eating...

It sounds like withdrawl. If drinking something with corn (diet or regular soda) stop the headaches, then probably all you're doing is staving off the detox/withdrawl. Much like an alcoholic taking a sip of alcohol every time they get the shakes. Work tword getting off them completely. As for suppliments, many manufacturers of suppliments put corn...

They should. The soy information would probably be accurate since govt requires it to be labeled, so they should be accurate with the yes or no on soy. However, from experience I know that they're not good at corn or corn derivatives. I react to even the smallest drop of anything made from corn. For example, Coca Cola has insisted that their Simply...

Most enrichments in milks (dairy and non-dairy) are put into either a corn or soy carrier, which could be why you react to them. Same is for calcium added to OJ. Finding unenriched milks isn't easy as the only unenriched non-dairy milks I know of are rice or soy based, and the rice one has gluten. Broths are corn magnents. Imagine broths are good though...

Andrea - thats a great pamphlet. The "typical reaction" scenerio was like walking through some of my reactions. I've never seen anything from a doctor or allergist that was that open-minded and easily understandable.

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
Simply-V replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm IgE to white bean (very slightly, but still there) and intolerant IgG to pinto, kidney and alfalfa. At first I didn't avoid peanuts or soy, because I didn't think it mattered. They tested for those and I was fine, according to the tests. However, I began listening to my body. Any bean makes me feel sick. Soy derivatives and peanut oil.. so far no...
