  1. Hmm Talking about lectins.. I found a page which talked about IgA involvement in binding lectins. Open Original Shared Link Got me to wondering if that isn't why my IgA was so high. Because when I was tested I was eating soy & peanuts (which I found out later are closely related to the white bean which I'm IgE to.) I may have my doc re-run the...
  2. I wrote a nice long response to this.. hit "post" and my internet went down so it got lost.. Now let me try to re-create it. Yes corn is the devil. *laughs* Unfortunately it has many minions.. One of which is Tyson. They don't label corn very well. There is corn in every single one of their products. Avoid like the plague. (Another is Kraft)...
  3. Sorry to hear about your crisis. Hope everything is ok. I know what you mean about its hard not to go back to corn. When I first discovered my corn allergy, I was suffering from corn allergy addiction. I was so used to that surge of adrenaline when I ate, that things just didn't taste the same to me. Honestly I was an adrenaline junkie. I still...
  4. Laura, I've been told by many that once you go gluten-free, that those antibodies stop being produced. Which if you get tested for the antibodies while on a gluten-free diet, your results should be negative. Your comment that you can't possibly be getting into corn now.. well. you can. (this is just FYI stuff that you probably already know from the...
  5. Look, I'm all about supporting Rachel and her health issues. I in no way mean to bring negativity here. However I do see eKatherines point of view and was trying to explain that view in a very non-judgemental and non-attacking way. yet, people keep taking it personally. Enough said on the subject from me. This debate is offtopic and useless other than...
  6. OK.. that seems like a drastic reaction. Rachel, people like myself, are on this thread reading because of your situation and because we want to learn more about causes of these types of issues. For you to bail out now, is much like handing us a book to read which you ripped out the last chapter. Please post your results and findings. Its the "on...
  7. Rachel, chill. 1. What I said in no way invalidates this thread. 2. Wasn't meant to demean you. 3. Isn't an attack on you. I was just stating that I understand where eKatherine was coming from. I put in the hours to get to understand things on this thread and I make an effort to check this daily. Thats my choice. But for a lot of people,...
  8. I think what eKatherine is trying to say is that this thread is nearly impossible to follow and find any of that information which those of you who have been on this thread since its birth found "lifesaving". This has become a community thread. A home for those with similar woes to come and commiserate. Which there is nothing wrong with that. But...
  9. These questions are mainly for Laura & Rachel.. but I'm told several of you others have similar symptoms. I suffered with a lot of this for years, searched for answers and got little help (well if you can call being called a hypocondriac and being constantly offered antidepressants as help). The following are all things I was tested for, and can...
  10. Just wanted to let you know I tried this and it was good. Honey Mustard isn't my favorite so I altered it a bit. I made 1/2 recipe using Lundberg Rice Syrup instead of honey, and orphee dijon. Then I added 1/4 c. Pomi tomatoes, a dash of garlic powder, and a dash of ground celery. Blended it til smooth. It was fabulous! Thanks for posting the...
  11. Autumn have you gotten your results from Enterolab? Do you for certain (lab results) have problems with gluten? I'm asking because many corn-allergic (testing often misses this) people originally think they have gluten problems since corn is often in many gluten products. When they cut out gluten, they also cut out a lot of corn. These problems with...
  12. Orphee Mustard at allergygrocer.com is corn-free and probably gluten-free as well since its made with apple cider vinegar. Imported honey's are often corn-free, especially honey's which state where they are made. Such as Orange Blossom honey, Lemon honey, etc. Read labels, most imported honeys will tell you where they are made and what is around for...
  13. Umm I'm not sure this is a thread for getting help. To me it seems to have devolved into a thread of chatting and socializing for friends of Rachelville. I'm only staying tuned to find out Rachel's test results. Which may prove educational for me.
  14. I know that feeling. I used to be much much worse about it than I am now, but I'm still dealing with my past of "altered perceptions" "mood swings".. I honestly don't even know how bad I was. I can only assume by peoples reactions to me now, when I don't freak out. I still don't handle change well, but I suspect thats due to a lifetime of trying to control...
  15. If it happens right after, please stop eating corn. Look into avoiding corn. Corn derivatives etc. I'm not sure what you had for dinner, but most likely there was some form of corn. From what you're describing it could be a start of your throat swelling. Tests for corn allergy are not all that accurate, avoiding and trying it again later is the only...
  16. Rachel, I laughed so hard at the constant "you're crazy its not Lyme" from doctors, then going to a doctor for mercury testing only to have him say "Have you been tested for Lyme?" Gotta love Doctors. I hate it when Doctors do that crap. I just keep pestering them. We pay them to give us answers, you've paid for it. Now go get your answer...
  17. I don't have that reaction to corn, though I do to blueberries. It sounds like an allergic reaction. Does it happen within 2 hours of eating corn (usually within 15-20 minutes)?
  18. Christine, This definately has to be a time of a lot of pressure. Life throws things at us, and at 40 yrs old your boyfriend should know that. We'd all like perfect lives with things in the "proper" order. But well.. life happens. If you want the baby, keep it. Things will work out the way they're supposed to. If you want the baby and you "kill...
  19. It is very probable that the corn in your meds is causing you issues. Helpful sites: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  20. Try Physicians Formula Mineral Veil for sensitive skin. I am severely intolerant and allergic to corn. Most of the worlds citric acid is made from corn, and is especially true in the USA. There are a few companies that still utilize citric acid from citrus but those are rare. I avoid all citric acid unless I've contacted the company first.
  21. Levels of sensitivity depends on the individual. Some can handle small amounts and some can't handle anything. I'd recommend going as corn-free as you possibly can. If for no other reason to give your body a break. I first noticed my corn sensitivity (actually an IgE corn allergy though very mild in comparision to some) with reactions to sodas or...
  22. I took the Immunolabs ELISA. It was really accurate. I'm not sure how many foods you're reactive to, but I do recommend avoiding them. I react to every food on my list (some more significantly than others). Btw I tested pos. for 17 foods, in mainly 3 food families. I no longer eat beans with the exception of a couple soy derivatives, peppers (severe delayed...
  23. Just thought I'd drop you a note. I don't get around here very often as I don't avoid gluten. I once thought I had to, but I don't. Btw this is an impossibly long thread to catch up on. Anyway, it looks like you've found the Delphi site, and cornallergens.com and that you're well on your way to getting better. I'm also working on a research/testimony...
  24. Rachel, I feel your pain. You sound like you're really sensitive to corn, and that can cause a multitude of issues. I recommend that you check out the following links: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Completely avoiding corn can be done, but its hard. Its in a lot of foods, even meats. Which makes it nearly impossible...
  25. Only thing I can recommend without butting into your every cooking move, is for you to look closer into your cooking. Spices, peppers, certain veggies, iodized salt, beverages. The easiest way is to get an ELISA test. There is a place here in Austin that does the test, but I don't know about Dallas. Btw I'm a misplaced Northerner as well, though after...
