  1. Thank you for all the replies.......I've been checking back frequently, but did more reading than posting in this topic Everyone here seems to have an interesting story. The journal is a good idea........but it might be too painful to write about how bad and sick I feel.....I don't know if I want to dwell on it like that...good suggestion, though...
  2. I've thought the same thing ALL the time--if I had been diagnosed and never found this site or never had any internet to go to.....wow......kinda scary...I'd probably still be eating malt, not checking natural flavors, and feeling completely alone......this is a wealth of info (the site, and generally, the internet) and we're so lucky to have it available...
  3. Not expert .........it won't work cause it's an Adobe file and copying the text alone and pasting it into the post doesn't work cause you lose the structure of the table and it's impossible to read; everything gets mushed together and it's incomprehensible. Additionally, the board doesn't allow you to upload files into posts---- it's a very thorough list...
  4. It wasn't that I was annoyed at the doctor or that he was wrong or anything....I just didn't hear what I wanted to....didn't hear that it was something that could be cured with a simple antibiotic or something. I, too, am much better now......and some of the things I said in my last post made it sound like the dr. was mean or something, which he wasn't;...
  5. Good luck!
  6. My SIBO theory was all wrong; very rare in celiacs...only comes with structural problems of the intestines.......that's what my doc. said
  7. I did have my hopes up...........thanks........he said that it can't be SIBO cause that only comes when there is something structurally wrong with the intestines; for example, they're twisted and therefore, food and bacteria don't move through -- my intestines aren't twisted. He also said that it's very rare in celiac disease. He didn't even read my articles...
  8. That stinks........I think we're all having bad days: Jill, you, me......
  9. I'm 13 yrs. old, 5'1", 80 lbs. I don't have a huge appetite......celiac disease and sickness just completely turned me off to food......I wanna gain weight but-----I dunno.....I just don't feel hungry a lot and I've developed an aversion to food since it's food that gets me sick in the first place--I mean, I'll eat my meals and stuff, but I'm not terribly...
  10. We all need to vent sometimes...........and if the biopsy comes back negative, you can either ingest more gluten and try again, try enterolabs, or be satisfied with a personal diagnosis. I'm sorry you don't have a more supportive family to help you through this....that sucks that someone would complain to you about doctor bills as if it's your fault that...
  11. Two celiac friends (not on board) have not had second biopsies......I've heard no mention of one for me.
  12. Thank you for your reply.........I won't end up needing it -- the doc. dismissed SIBO immediately.......I'm really discouraged right now
  13. I'm going to my new doctor at 2:30 today to talk about Bacterial Overgrowth (it's 12:45 now, in the city). I believe that when using probotics (if he thinks I have it), you need to avoid all dairy. A few questions: first, what ingredients to you look for on a label? I know that if I see anything with milk or whey or cheese cultures or milk cultures or...
  14. That's what I did.......the really old stuff I didn't use, but the relatively new stuff I kept using.
  15. Very true..........that's actually a very good way to put it --- I'll have to remember that one . A powerful and very true statement....well put, once again
  16. First off, those symptoms definitely sound like celiac disease. Hmm.....funny........I was never breastfed, but I had problems with my first formula....I had projectile vomiting as well......could I have had it since I was a baby? I didn't have my main symptoms until 7.......I dunno.....it probably wasn't celiac disease with me cause a different, and...

    ARCHIVED Doctors In New York

Definitely do that -- Columbia has a whole program w/ celiac drs........the new doc. I'm going to tomorrow is affiliated w/ that program....try it.
  18. I've been about 5 months on the diet -- and my abdominal pains are still coming -- ugg.......I thought it'd be 1-3 months at the beginning, then I read how it can take some people a year........ick......I'm going to a new, more knowledgable doctor to discuss the possibility of SIBO..........(small intestine bacterial overgrowth)......actually, my appt. is...
  19. I've heard so much about that bakery -- and though I'm only a subway ride away, I've never been there!....never really bothered to go I know I should, but I haven't. That's terrific that you had a great experience there!
  20. I concur.........you're lucky not to have been gluten-free for a longer period of time. Lyndsey (on the board) was gluten-free for......something like 3 months before finding out she needed a biopsy. If you continue eating gluten-free, you might test negative for celiac disease, even if you really have it. Three weeks isn't long enough for your gluten...
  21. I'd definitely buy a new collander. The holes in it are easy sources of contamination -- easy sources to pick up some gluten that gets lodged there and doesn't wash away. Obviously, it can only help to use separate containers. It isn't too expensive to replace old plastic containers with new ones and it might be a good idea. I know a lot of people who...
  22. Failure to thrive is a definite sign of celiac disease. The fact that you have two other common symptoms: stomach pains and diarrhea, makes it seem even more likely. celiac disease is often misdiagnosed as IBS, so that history of "IBS" could actually be a history of Celiac Disease. I think you might have it, and it seems likely that your daughter has it...
  23. How old is Gabby? If she's old enough to like homemade Choc. chip cookies, I just found the BEST ones....better than the old wheat kind of homemade cookies. If she's just starting solid foods, there's an arrowroot cookie made by Mi-Del....it's not my favorite; nowhere near the same league as my chocolate chip cookies , but something that's rather bland...
  24. Thank you for telling me how you tested for these things...it was interesting to read. I will discuss all this at my appt.
  25. I don't have experience with really bad gas like that, but would it help to cut your lunch short by a few minutes so that you can go for a walk......walking is supposed to sorta dislodge the gas.
