  1. Sure, after being in Northboro for 30 years we just moved to Florida and Crown makes gluten-free. It figures (lol) Karen
  2. Love them, but I would recommend you make copies of them to give to waiters. We had a dingbat waiter who misplaced the card for some time before finally finding it. Karen
  3. Sounds like a plan Patti!!! I am just so excited. I got on the scale this AM and have lost more weight. It is just falling off me without me counting calories at all. I have the shake for breakfast (at noon). Then usually gazpacho soup for lunch around 2 PM. If I am very hungry I put some cooked brown rice into the soup. Then a normal dinner (fish...
  4. 1/2 cup yogurt (either plain or low-fat vanilla) 1/2 banana 2 rings of canned pineapple 1/4 apple small amount of mandarin oranges 8 frozen strawberries 4 ice cubes Put all in VitaMix (you probably could use a blender) and mix it. Delicious!! You can use any fruit, but the banana is needed for texture. Karen
  5. I am finally having some success losing weight. I have a fruit and yogurt shake in the morning, usually a veggie soup for lunch, and a dinner of protein (fish, chicken, occasional beef) with veggies for dinner. Then a snack of either nuts, yogurt, or fruit shake. This is the first time I have succeeded and I am so excited because I also have Chronic...
  6. I get Stoneyfield Organic, it is yummy!!
  7. Reading above about the dangers of Soy as a plant estrogen, affecting the hormones of women, and also the overuse of wine as a cause of breast cancer. I am just wondering about all this. Asian cultures eat tons of soy products. The French and some other Europeans drink tons of wine. There is very little breast cancer in Asia, and certainly no more...
  8. Thanks for letting me vent!! Karen
  9. That is what I couldn't understand. I am suffering with CFS and gluten intolerance, am disabled and home-bound. What happened to Drs. being diagnosticians and finding out what is wrong?
  10. Saw my PCP yesterday and asked for Rast testing. He wanted to know why. I told him I probably have celiac and he said, "yes but you haven't been diagnosed". (I have been seen by a Celiac specialist in Boston who told me I probably did and shouldn't go back on gluten for a challenge). I told him to just write down gluten intolerance if he wasn't comfortable...
  11. Oh boy, I guess that answers my question but not my problem. I had IBS that got progressively worse over 10 years until I went gluten free, to the point where I became dehydrated and needed IV's. Three days after being gluten-free I had no IBS and have been fine since then. Unfortunately, I saw a Celiac specialist months after going gluten-free so it was...
  12. Maybe I am not communicating well. If I am gluten intolerant (I am definitely) and it isn't allergy.....is it celiac?
  13. Thanks, but I already know I have at least a wheat intolerance. What I want to know is if the Allergy test is negative (and I don't have a wheat allergy) does that make the likelihood of celiac greater?
  14. I am having RAST testing tomorrow. Having had IBS for 10 years and 3 days after going gluten-free I was fine, I am wondering something. If my RAST test does NOT show allergy to wheat, does that confirm Celiac? Thanks, Karen
  15. I use Pure Encapsulations and Vital Nutrients. Not sure if these are available in stores or on-line. May just be available from Doctors, but any vitamin should say if it contains gluten, soy, corn, etc. etc. Karen
  16. I used to have reactions from the toothpaste they used at the Dentist. Now I just have them use plain pumice without flavorings or colorings and do fine. Karen
  17. Thanks! I will be seeing my PCP on Wednesday and will ask for it. Karen
  18. Some years ago I had skin testing for allergies on the skin of my back. The entire area reacted so badly that it was impossible to tell what the allergen was that caused it. Anyone here have anything like this? Karen
  19. I am 5' 2", dark hair and dark brown eyes, kind of sallow complexion. Grandparents all European Jews. Father's father from Russia, died of stomach cancer when my father was 13. My father has always complained of stomach problems. My brother had colitis at age 10. I started with IBS as an adult which got worse over 10 years and then disappeared three days...
  20. You are actually lucky to have figured out the solution so quickly. I went through 10 years of IBS, multiple tests, dehydration from diarrhea after taking an antibiotic, eliminating lactose (eating tons of wheat cause I eliminated everything else) etc. etc. Finally, my MD got sick of listening too, and suggested wheat intolerance. THREE DAYS later,...
  21. Just spent an hour or so calling manufacturers and was told that these medications are gluten-free, including the coloring used (Yellow # 10 and blue #2). Just thought I'd share. Karen
  22. FYI, I was put on Zithromax pills some years ago (before becoming gluten-free) and had D for 5 weeks, so badly that I became dehydrated and needed IV fluids. Karen
