    Hmmmm... I am only using the rice milk for cooking but perhaps I still need to find another alternative. He drinks a specialized elemental formula for his "milk" but I still need something to make him pancakes or waffles. He doesn't eat those very often... actualy only Saturday mornings... but still. Most of what he eats is naturally gluten-free.....

    Did they do an upper gi scope?? Going formula only sounds like a treatment for an EOS and not celiac. My son takes Petamen Jr for milk/soy allergies and failure to thrive.     He's already milk, soy, peanut, and tree nut free do to IgE food allergies. He's got a pretty limited diet... which is part of the reason we dragged our feet on the gluten free trial for so long.

    We are pulling Gluten from my 3 year olds diet for a trial. I am looking for a suggestion for the best flour substitute?? I make him muffins for breakfast every week and they are the only way I can get veggies in him so I don't want to loose them! What would work well?? It needs to be nut and soy free as well (food allergies).

    Thank you for your response!! My younger son is already milk/soy free because of food allergies. He takes elemental formula for supplemental nutrition for borderline failure to thrive. So making the rest of us milk/soy free for a while wouldn't be tough. Going gluten free however sounds SOOO overwelming to me with all the other food allergies we are dealing...

    This has been 2 years in the making but I think we are finally going to trial a gluten free diet with my 2.5 year old son. He's had constipation issues almost since birth... we tried every dietary measure known to man without luck and finally had to resort to Miralax daily when he was 7 months old... he's been on that ever since and can't poop without it...

    I forgot to add before... Alimentum is made from corn so if she tolerated that she is unlikely to have a corn allergy.

    We have lots of food allergies here Alimentum still has milk proteins in it... they are broken down significantly but they are still there. Something like 10-20% of children with milk allergies will NOT be able to tolerate Alimentum. So that might have been part of her problem... she didn't react as badly becuase it was broken down but her body still...

I guess my question is does the intenstinal damage cause the bloodwork to show ++ or does the presense of the antibodies in the blood cause the intestinal damage?? Does that make sense at all?? Can you have ++ bloodwork and a negative biopsy?? And can you have neg...

    That is interesting that you say having him was your triggering event. I really did notice an increase in all of my symptoms after having my first child. I had a c/s with him after 17 hours of labor and ended up with a mild illeus after surgery. I always attributed my increased bowel troubles to that illeus... but maybe it was more.     So my question then is... if he does have the genes do I just put him on a gluten-free diet? Or do I keep him on gluten and have him tested every year or two and wait and see if he ever shows up positive?? At what age would he likely start showing up positive?? And how much damage could I be doing in the meantime by waiting for the bloodwork to show positive...

    I am curious how much genetic testing really tells you about celiac. From what I am gathering here there's a large percentage of the population that has celiac genes and are not necessarily celiac?? What is the point of paying for the testing if its not telling you anything for certain?? I ask because our family is currently going through testing. ...

    Honeslty I am not sure how much he knows about celiac per se... he had to look up the whole panel of blood work before he ordered it becuase he says its not something he does very often. I just think he was a good Dr in general... not willing to just sit back and make a "junk" diagnosis.

    Have you looked into Blue Lizard?? My youngest has VERY sensative skin and this works great for him. Its natural but I don't know for certain that its gluten free... maybe you could contact them?? Its expensive but not as expensive as CA Baby... I get it from our ped derm for $11-12 a bottle.

    Is there a link between chronic ear infections and celiac. I had someone (non medical person) tell me they heard there was. I am just curiuos if others have suffered through chronic ei's with celiac??
