Hi. I have also had this problem, and am only 22. Definitely started to get worse after starting the diet. I always thoguht the palpittaions were due to being really anaemic, but that wouldnt explain the high pulse rate too. Mine can get up to anything like 198. Very scary, especially when it happens while I'm at work - whenI'm just sitting down talking to...

I was diagnosed 2 and a half years ago now, when I was 19. My dad has been diagnosed for nearly 20 years now, and it was only through mentioning this to my GP that she had my blood tested for coeliac disease. I have been ill since about age 10 - though I cant remember very much to be honest. But it got to the point where I had severe internal bleeding-intetsines... -

Hi! Just wanted to let you know, that different doctors in different areas are defintiely better than others, and so is the care you recieve. I have just finished my degree at Lancaster University, which was really hard, as I got diagnosed after only being away from home for one year. Anyway, it was through pure coincidence of me mentioning to my GP that... -
Hi! Nickra, I strongly suggest you joining coeliac uk. They have a website which you can find using google. They publish A book which has all gluten-free food in the UK in it. Sainsbury's does have good frozen stuff such as gluten-free nuggets, and pre-packed lasagnes, and pizzas, etc, as well as lots of other things which arent frozen.Marks and Spncers also...

ARCHIVED Quaker Cracker Jack Corn Cakes... Mmmmm
Katie O'Rourke replied to elsinore's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Usually if they're gluten free they will actually state this on the back of the packet now, like Walkers do with their crisps. Also though, to look out for are Quakers snack bags - sorry i cant remember the name at the moment - theyre a little like crisps, but low in fat, and made of maize i believe. Bags are black and you can get them in places like superdrug... -

Hi. I had the same trouble, but my consultant said it should clear up once I was on the diet for a while - mine was from having the runs far too much, and my gut getting shredded basically. try drinking apple juice, which is a very good natural way to sort it out, and also Proctosedyl suppositories which I'm sure you can get from your Dr can also help to...

For me, I find that I will be throwing up with 30 minutes of barley ingestion, and acutely ill for the following 6-8 hours, and flu-like for the following day or teo, with brian fog, etc. With malt extract/barley extract, I find that I become very nauseous after approx 6 hours, and get very bad abdominal pains and run. Wheat gluten on the other hand always...

Katie O'Rourke replied to GlutenFreeAl's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Hi. I actually live in England, though I live in Lincoln, not London. But can gurantee you that labelling is very good in this country all gluten-free food now says it on it, or says "contains gluten"if it does. so good idea to top here, as it is safe. If you get stuck, go to a Marks and Spencers, or Sainsbury's - you can sometimes even find these in railway... -
ARCHIVED Cancun Business Trip - Help!
Katie O'Rourke replied to a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
If I was you, it is definitely best to get them to plate you up a meal. Buffets can be rather ddgy, obviously cross contamination is a big issue, because you wont know if people have used the tongues, etc to handle gluten-containing fod. Also, breakfast may well be croissants, etc, so best to ask for gluten-free cereal, like rice crispies, and orange juice... -

I am coeliac, and am planning to go on holiday to Disney World, Florida next year, and obviously becuase of how far I am travelling, and I will be staying there a few weeks, I will need to keep any bread/snacks for when I am there. It's a package holiday and I wont be driving,as I wont be... -
Hi. I have been, but was staying with relatives so was a bit easier. Eating out was tricky, as the pub in particular was pre-made food - even the jacket potato skins were glutinous apparently. Also, they will have irish breakfasts over there, which include white pudding (made from chicken's blood), black pudding (made from pig's blood), sausage, and fried...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Vegetarian Travel
Katie O'Rourke replied to chocolatebunny's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Hi. Try sticking to fruit, vegetables, and proteins such as beans, or seeds and nuts. Obviously shop-bought gluten-free snacks like cakes and pretzals are ok too. Chocolate and crisps are always an option if youre really stuck and really hungry . Dairy food is also an option. Remember to avoid things like Quorn though, as this isnt gluten free - it may appear... -
