  1. Try having a meal replacement drink with your meals. They have alot of calories in them. I think Nestle has gluten-free ones. It will say gluten-free right on the can, I think.

Thanks! I'm not sure if I can have nestle though. I have a lot of other food allgeries as well,I am allgeric to dairy, soy and peanuts. It is hard to find high calorie foods that don't have any of that in it.

  2. I've been suspecting some additional food intolerances in addition to celiac for a few weeks now, and I'm pretty sure it's peanuts. Peanut butter has always made me sick, usually within an hour of eating it. I eliminated peanut butter for a week and a half and then ate peanuts on Saturday night. Sunday my joints were hurting a bit. Today I feel awful - joint/muscle pain, stomach cramps, fatigue. Not good.

My question is: is there a way to test for peanut allergies/intolerances or do I just have to base my diagnosis on my reaction to peanuts? Peanuts are part of the legume family, should I be testing to see if other legumes are a problem? It's possible to be intolerant to a few of the legumes but not all of them, right? Do peanut intolerances damange the intestines the way gluten does (like, if I eat peanuts am I going to be doing damage other than making myself feel like crap for a day or two?)

I had no problem giving up all my gluten foods without an official dianosis. Now I suspect PB and it's like a mini-crisis for me. What am I going to do without my peanut butter??? I'm starting to understand how some of you struggled so much with giving up gluten. I think part of my problem is that I am also vegetarian so I'm going to run into some protien problems pretty soon.

I was just tested by the RAST blood test and found out that I am allgeric to peanuts and many other foods..I eat cashew butter now it is very good! I am not sure if peanuts damage your intestines like gluten does. I do miss not having peanut butter but the cashew butter is very good! I don't like meat really but I eat it to get protein and I also drink a protein drink to get protein in me.

    I hope that helps!

  3. For your number 3 catagories...were you eaten any of them?

I had testing done too which is what led me to testing through enterolab. Mine was listed as Low, Moderate or High so I assume it's the same with your 1,2,3. I left off of my three's and two's. With the 1's or lows I left off of some and not others depending on where they fell on the graph. Do you have any line of attack as far as eliminating these? Did you doctor say to eliminate all of them or just the higher ones? Just curious. My doctor said to eliminate what would correlate to the 2's and 3's and go as low in the 1's as I felt comfortable eliminating. I have graphs to go by so I can see where in the 1 range they fell, which made it easier.

I got the test results but I havn't seen the doctor yet.

P.S. sorry it took so long for me to answer.

For your number 3 catagories...were you eaten any of them?

Sorry I didn't see that ?. Yes I was eating some of them. Yesterday I accidentally ate soy and I feel terrible.

  4. I went 2 an allgerist and he did a food allgery blood test from RAST. Here are the results 1 to 3. 3 being the worst.

    1 Asparagus,1 Lima bean,1 Broccoli,1 Cabbage,1 Cantalope,1 Celery,1 Cheddar cheese,1 Cottage cheese,1 Swiss cheese, 1 Eggewhite,1 Garlic,1 Grape, 1 Grapefruit,1 Lemon,1 Pineapple,1 White potato,1 Tomato,1 Black walnut,1 Watermelon,1 Bakers yeast..

    2 Barley,2 Pinto bean,2 Gluten,2 Brewer's yeast..

    3 Cow's milk ,3 Peanut,3 soybean,3 Wheat..

  5. I'm not sure why it didn't go through, but I wanted to let you know that Molly said she will not be online for 4 weeks starting today, because she is going to camp. I just didn't want you to thing that you were being ignored.

Whoops I posted with my moms user name on here and not mine. I didn't realize she was logged in. :P

    :D

  6. It just seems logical to me that there is a stage of this disease where the intestines are not damaged yet. I don't know why doctors don't consider this. I get so frustrated. Both my bloodwork and endoscopy came back negative, but when I had Enterolab test, everything was a high positive. I had been off gluten when I had the conventional tests done, and the docs didn't take that into consideration at all.

Do you know what two tests she tested positive on?

  7. Does anyone else feel full after hardly eating anything? I get this way after eating. I feel full and I just can't eat anything else. I've been trying to eat more because the doctors said I have to otherwise I might end up in the hospital but I just can't cause I get to full and after I eat I feel bloated and sometimes feel like throwing up.

  8. wow thanks 4 all the replys I thought I was the only one that got dizzy. I've been to about 20 doctors and they could never figure out what was trigering the dizziness I've even been to Mayo clinic and they didn't help either. But I think the dizziness is related to the celiac.

  9. It was probably a couple weeks, but I distinctly remember the day I was driving to work and singing out loud and suddently it hit me "man, this is what it feels like to WANT to get up and go to work"!

There are lots of up and downs, don't get discouraged. Keep your diet simple. Check ALL your products - not just food, but lotions, make-up, etc. Find a group member called Nimi (or Nini?) she has a newbie kit that's supposed to be great.

    Thanks!

How do I search for the group member Nimi or (Nini) ?

  10. Hi, Beth. I'm 26 and I'm in SE Michigan. What area are you in? I'm self-diagnosed (HATE my doctor) and I've only been gluten-free about 2 months myself, so I'm still learning. Glad to meet you. I believe *most* vinegars are ok. Malt vinegars are not ok.

The Delphi List has these Heinz condiments as gluten-free:

    Heinz (Heinz) (800-255-5750) (www.heinz.com) (ve=03/24/04)

KETCHUP: Ketcup, Kick’rs (Hot & Spicy)

VINEGAR: Distilled White Vinegar, Red Wine Vinegar, Apple Cider Vinegar (NOTE: Apple Cider FLAVORED Vinegar is NOT gluten-free)

EZ MARINADER: Mr. Yoshida Teriyaki only

Glad to meet you 2 and thanks 4 the help! I'm from the Detroit area.

  11. I recently tested positive on my blood test for celiac disease. I have an appointment with a new gastro Dr in two weeks. I'm sure they will want to scope me but I don't want to suffer for several more weeks. Does anyone have an opinion?

Can anyone please explain the following blood tests?

    Endo, IgA Screen

    Endo, IgA Titer

    Tissue Transglutaminase Ab, IgA

How reliable are the blood test for the diagnoses?

    Thank you!

    Beth
