  1. I had the ravioli you are referring to and thought it was awful. I do, however love comfy cuisine eggplant parm. it's very good. For those of you who like it I get most of my gluten free food from Jandi's in Oceanside, NY (on Long Island), and they carry the comfy cuisine ravioli. Their website is www.jandis.com they also have a vegetarian deli that has...
  2. HI! I'm so confused...so why are marshmallows and tea bad? or can some people not have that for other allergen/intolerance issues? Please clarrify because I love and eat both of these things... Thank you!
  3. oh ok thanks. I just order and never ask cause I feel stupid, but I think now I will.
  4. I use Bobs Red Mill chocolate cake mix...the cupcakes come out more moist than gluten cupcakse...Sorry I am new to this also and don't have a particular recipe. too lazy. but I swear these are good.
  5. I love Bistango...My girlfriend lives in the neighborhood so whenever I visit we just walk over there. It's great and they are so friendly and accommodating! Risotteria is great too! I have to try Lumi...I was hesitant since no one on here has mentioned it but since you did its on my list - thanks!!
  6. Just curious. I always eat there (salad or soup) but I just order. I don't say change gloves, or use clean bowl. Is all of this necessary?
  7. I get something similar and don't know anyone else who does. Except I notice that it happens after long periods of exposure to the cold. Painful tiny blisters only on my fingers...I have Raynaud's though - but this will be the first winter that I'm gluten-free...so we'll see what happens. Does this happen to anyone else??
  8. Wow! glad to know that others have the same problem. I thought it was me and that this feeling would never go away! I have been gluten free (at least trying) since May and have little stomach/digestive symptoms but this brain fog/memory loss is the worst. I'll have conversations with people, or a fight with my boyfriend, and they will "repeat" something...
  9. I think you are right! I'm 25 and I'm miserable because I feel like I don't have a social life anymore. And it always involves food either before or after I go out and I always feel left out or something. And I look like the annoying girl whose always complaining or is miserable. And that was not me before all of this. I am trying to lay off the alcohol...
  10. YES! I hate winter. I love the fall but I hate the cold weather of winter. I have Raynaud's pretty bad so I suffer all winter long. I actually get little painful sores on my fingers from the cold and it is so frustrating!!! Anyone else get this? Well anyway, I get such anxiety over the cold, but I just try to bundle up as best I can and find really really...
  11. Thank you everyone for your advice. I actually had the blood work done 3 months after being gluten free and they were normal. I have a great Dr. so I have a good plan of care. I do eat out a lot though (well not as much as I used to but maybe once a week now). I still live at home with parents and try to cook my own meals and when they cook I hover to make...
  12. Hello...I have been gluten-free since May after being diagnosed on endoscopy for reflux/lump in throat feeling. Otherwise I felt physically OK, with hardly any stomach issues. since I began this diet I have been getting progressively worse. My stomach is still OK, but I feel dizzy, and out of it all the time. All I want to do is lay down. This week I have...
  13. Hey! I am actually planning a vegas trip for april and last time I was there (prior to being diagnosed with Celiac) was 2 years ago and had a great experience dining at Samba. I am looking forward to going back there, what was your experience with eating gluten free at Samba? What do you recommend?? This will be my first vacation since being gluten free and...
  14. I hear ya! Same experiences here but I still try to eat out I don't want this to stop me. Please do let me know if you find any restaurants that are really accommodating in our area and vice versa. I am in Rockville Centre. If I eat Italian I usually go for like grilled chicken parm or something plain. I have tried "Best ever low carb cakes" bakery in massapequa...
  15. So Jayson, please do tell which restaurants you have tried that are accomodating to this diet?? I live on the South Shore, but I actually work in Manhasset. I try to explain my diet when I go out to eat and most people never understand, but I just had my blood re-tested after 3 months of being gluten free and everything was normal...so I guess I'm doing something...
  16. So true...Now I live for baking and finding any bakery that has gluten free stuff. I find myself buying things just because its gluten free. Meanwhile before all of this I would never have cared for certaing things, like dessert...It really messes with your head!! LOL
  17. Wow! that is so true. I too am thin and everytime I go out to eat requesting my special needs they look at me and say "what are you on a diet?" and its so annoying. sometimes I just don't say anything and order what I might think is safe. I know that is bad but I don't really get typical symptoms so most times I can never tell if I get "glutened" anyway....
  18. Hey...I live on Long Island too..nassau county. And I went to Hofstra (graduated in 2003), I am 24. I too am very new to all of this just diagnosed in May. Whole Foods and Trader Joes are good places to start. Also, Jandis in Oceanside has a pretty good selection of gluten free products and they have a small cafe/deli where many (if not all) of the products...
  19. Wow! I live close to this bakery and never knew of it...I'm going there today! Thank you so much!!!
