  1. The inflammation sets up the pain, and the nerves and muscles in my jaw and puzzling enough its concentrated mostly there and in my neck and somtimes wrists. Its arthritis, in a sense, not rhumatoid, ive been tested for that, it could be something more vague like a systemic autoimmune thing going on in my body. Thats why no doctors have been able to figure it out.

I love but hate being so sensitive!

    Premature Post:

Well, Christine, maybe I can ease your mind about your wrists, so you'll have one less thing to worry about. Granted, it's only a baby step, but we all have to start somewhere.

My mother's fourth cousin thrice removed, Lula, had a dangling nerve in her right wrist, and that thing drove her crazy. She worried about it constantly, and often described the weird sensations it caused. Poor Lula went from doctor to doctor all her life, to no avail. To the day she died, at the age of 96, she never did find a doctor who was able to figure it out.

So, if I were you, I wouldn't waste another minute worrying about those wrists. Concentrate instead on the big picture, the systemic autoimmune thing going on in your body. Hope this information helps.

  2. Dang you guys, try to get it straight, it's the

University of the Celiac Cult Farm * * * *

(I put asterisks in because Cecile thinks they're "pretty" ha ha ha ha)

I'm so embarassed. :( How could I, Distinguished Chair of Celiac Literary and Historical Oddities Department at UCCF, have forgotten the name of the esteemed university to which I have dedicated half my life, my fortune, and my sacred honour. I bow my head in shame. Let us now observe one minute of silence in solemn acknowledgement of my mental lapse.

Okay. I'm all better now. The pretty asterisks cheered me up. What a terrific comedy team we have, broadcasting unrehearsed repartee here, there, and yon!

I'll share my test results with all and sundry tomorrow. Might even do the signature thingy.

    Good night and pleasant dreams!

  3. Hi, y'all! Everyone is so witty today! Love it!!!

So many postings, so many comments to make, so little time. It's overwhelming me!

    Welcome, David, Rachel's friend-but-not-boss.

Susan, possibly msg (Auxigro  ) in the broccoli?

    Cecile, I miss you.

    Donna, citric acid = corn.

Lynne, where can I find the wedding post?

To all who feel bad today, hugs and prayers.

Beverly, UCCF is University of Celiac ????? Somebody! Help!!!

Guess what! I got the results of my tests from Entero Lab! Yay!!!

I've spent all day trying to translate, and composing an email to send to every member of my family who has a computer. At this point I'm mentally exhausted, so it's early to bed for me tonight.

  4. Cissy, since our hubbies are in a time warp and fashion-impaired, we must be allowed to have a hunky Aussie man as an escort to all Rachelville functions. They must be youngish, good looking, well dressed, well-read, and funny. They are purely an accessory, like a bracelet or painting, to our lovely outfits and perfectly clean homes (thanks to the cleaning brownies, fairies, and scrubbing sprites) :D Hey, one can dream, can't one?

Girl, that is the best idea I've heard in 50 years!!! :P:P:P

    Cissie

  5. Wow... thanks for the encouragement... I would love to try. I remember at the very beginning of this thread I was joking about having to grow my own food... but you know what? It's probably the best thing to do since we obviously can't trust any of the commercial growers.

It IS the best thing to do!!! If my strong grandsons hadn't moved out of state, I would be growing my own veggies. But alas, I can't plow all by myself. :(

    Cissie

  6. Unreal isn't it?

Do you think I could possible grow vegetables in my yard in Florida? There is only sand here but I could buy dirt....if this is a stupid idea... please tell me so I don't waist money... I haven't grown anything... well okay maybe a few flowers... but nothing like veggies or herbs... so whatcha think.. should I try? And if I do can I start anytime or have to plant like farmers with the seasons?

Do you have cool weather in the autumn? You could call the state agrigultural dept., and ask what to plant and when. If you send them a soil sample, they'll send you a report on what you need to amend the soil. It may be possible to grow cool weather crops like spinach, collards, and turnip greens this year! I don't know, but it's worth a try. I would love to have my own garden! Oh, btw, you can grow lots of veggies in pots. I've grown tomatos that way.

  7. I am so shocked at how the food industry is regulated or not regulated, it truely boggles my mind. Every time I do some research I'm always bumping into these kinds of reports.... as Susan would say... its so scary... hold me....

I must not venture too far out of Rachelville... life on the other side of Mt. Rachel is very cruel. :o

But what if that so called modified protien is in the processed corn chips and such? ... too... too much... can... not... take... it...

Just kidding... kind of... just downed some Tostitos white corn chips as I was reading

And something else shocking to me is what I read on whfoods.com about what qualifies as organic produce nowadays! On that same website I tried to find info about Auxigro - nothing, zilch, nada, nichts, zero!

  8. ANDREA, good job!!!!!

RACHEL, I think we should all get our spinach together, and come up with a plan to have you testify before Congress about the deplorable state of the agricultural industry in our country. Rachelville could send representatives to picket outside the Congressional building, while you testify. DOWN WITH MSG! OUR FOOD IS KILLING US! PURE FOOD FOR BABIES!

In the meantime, we await your latest words of wisdom, scientificness-wise speaking, of course.

VINCENT, I got it! Thanks a million!

    Cissie

  9. Hmm that black box is most likly your calbe modem. OKay... you have two kinds of things that connect to the wall (in your case, based on what I think you have).

Cable wire. Thats usaully a round cable and plug that screws on instead of plug in.

Power cords. They usally all go to one powerstip/surge protector that inturn connects to the wall.

In that setup only two wires need to come off, the power cord from the surge proector or power strip that connects to the wall and the cable. Since your cable is run under the floor instead of directly to the jack, you can just disconnect the end that connects to the modem.

Gosh, thanks, Vincent!!! It makes sense now. There are actually two cable wires attached to the modem - one for the computer and the other for the tv. So I'll unplug the power cord, and unscrew the two cable wires. Have I got it right?

    Cissie

  10. Well, just what ever is plugged in to the wall outlet. In most cases you would have a million wires runnig all over, but only 1 or 2 actully plugged in to the wall outlet, they are the only ones that matter for this issue, so un plug them. That includes phone wires if you use a dialup or DSL modem, an cable if you use a cable modem.

The easy way to think of it is "is it connected to an outlet inthe wall, then unplug it"

Be sure to turn off/shut down first though :) Esply if you have a UPS becuase it will beep at you nonstop till you need drugs to get over it if you do not!

Now I'm really confused. I have a cable modem. Nothing is plugged into a wall outlet except a thick black wire (cable?) that's connected at the other end to a black box that everything else is plugged into. That black box is connected to one black cable that disappears into a hole in the floor. I'm sorry to sound so dumb, Vincent.

  11. It goes much futher then that, and I will cut to the chase here no surge protection system can stop a direct hit from a lighting bolt. I have mulitple surgeprotection systems + power conditioning and backup, and if a bad strom comes through, I unplug everything. When I go away on trips I unplug everything befor I go.

No, surge proteciotn is still needed because you get spikes from the power company all the from things other then lightining and they can protect you from that, HOWEVER you have to replace them over time. The better ones have a ligth to tell you when they are no longer protecting you, if yours does not have any indicator, then you prbly need to replace it anyways. :)

Thanks, Vincent. I didn't think about a direct hit from lightning. So if another bad storm comes through, or if I go on vacation, exactly what should I unplug, and from what do I unplug it? I have so many plugs and cables and boxes and the large black box . . . I wouldn't know where to start!:unsure::unsure:

Dh can't help me; remember, he's still living in the 1940s.

    Cissie

  12. If you don't have a computer/electronic designed surge protector your computer would be better unplugged. Plain surge protectors could still let some damage through. They are rated down to nanosecond I thing. Our computer techie Vincent should be able to better articulate on that though.

    You're right, Andrea; that's what I have.

When we built my studio, I told my husband and the general contractor (Masonic buddy of my dh) that I wanted it wired for cable tv and a computer. Dh said it wasn't necessary, because he had a perfectly good computer in his office (right next to studio) that I could use. Once again, he underestimated his dear wife! :P

As soon as my studio was completed, I bought my Mac and a tv, and had Comcast install the whole works. So I do have the right kind of surge protector. My poor old dh will just never learn!!!

  13. Hi Cissie--I've missed you! Glad that you got through the storms unscathed. :)

I always turn the computer off, too, during a bad thunderstorm. Is it also necessary to unplug it? I have a surge protector, but I always wonder....It's been so hot this summer and that sparks a lot of thunderstorms.

I have a surge protector, too. No, I don't unplug my computer, just turn it off instead of putting it to sleep.

Thanks, y'all, for missing me. I'm happy to be back! :)

    Cissie

  14. Hey, Dingo Girl! Don't know why you didn't get my email, but I've re-sent it. I wrote it when you were feeling so sad yesterday.

We had more storms roll through yesterday evening, so I had my computer turned off. The storms weren't as bad as the ones on Friday evening, which scared the spinach out of me! :(

Welcome to our new girls! Berneses, have you decided to accept the post of Professor of English at good ol' UCCF? We'll give you instant tenure.

Cecile, what a crummy dinner you had! Wish I'd been there to chase away that stupid waiter. I have the reputation, in my family, of being The Terminator.

    Love and hugs to all!

    Cissie

  15. I missed out on all the good conversation last night. :( We had a HUGE thunderstorm!!! Constant lightning, with so many rolls of thunder that you couldn't tell when one stopped and another began! As Cecile would say, good googly moogly!!! No way was I gonna sit at my keyboard. I just went to bed.

I have comments to make, but errands to run first, so I'll talk to you all later.

    Cissie

  16. I am hoping that Rachel is having a wonderful time and is thinking we know she has true ice cream vitality :) but I admit I am a little bit worried. I think we must collectively wish for Rachel to post and let us know how she is doing. Do you know the expression, "the long body"? It means the ways in which we are connected that we do not know but sometimes encounter, like reaching for the phone to call a friend and the phone ringing and it being them, or our resident twins who keep saying the same thing at the same time :) So Rachel, give us a ring, we miss you. :)

I know exactly what you mean, although I've never heard that expression. Rachel, check in!!! Meanwhile, Andrea and I will continue searching.

Evie, I'm sending a prayer for you to FEEL MUCH BETTER - NOW!

Patti, thanks. I'll see if I can reach her, but I think she's at work now.

    Cissie

  17. Doesn't Rachel live at her mother's during the week? I think she said she works at a Buy Rite store there, and only goes back to her own house on weekends. So she would have been at her mother's the last time she posted. I'm not sure about the Buy Rite, though I know it is a grocery store.

I just went to the Members file. Her last post was on Wednesday at 7:45 AM, August 2nd. It didn't say on what forum topic.
