  1. :) Cissie-I feel like I know you --are you related to me? :) Our hubbies certainly are of one mind.

On a serious note--I am worried about the whole eye thing too. Had a visit Fri to the surgeon, I thought the lenses were clouding over or a detached retina, but he said the retina looked ok, but my vision is getting bad again after being pretty good right after the surgery. I broke out in hives from the drops to dilate, and he had me use the prednisone drops 4 times Fri night and keep up 2 times a day and wants me to come back next Fri. The whole thing is upsetting me so much. I knew I couldn't see as well again and when the tech had me read the chart I couldn't believe it. I asked her if I could read the lines before and she said yes, and I couldn't help it, I just started tearing up and crying. I didn't bluther, but I was shocked. Enough whining-----(sorry) Cissy, I have been to so many drs. over this, I don't know who to turn to next. The dr. I am seeing is a surgeon-he is #6 I think (lost count).

I was searching in the 'related illness' topics for a thread that was started about a month or so ago regarding a type of hives and it was recommended by someone to try cortislim-to reduce cortisol levels to help with the hives-some itch and some are painful-well, I think Julie's post clinched it for me-thank you , Julie, last week I bought some cortislim and I took one Saturday and wow, I am not joking, within a hour and a half I felt so calm, no itching, no food craving, totally headache free. I definitely will continue this, not only for the adrenal calming and lessening of histamine symptoms, but for the related food/sugar craving (which is totally gone!!) I am forever thankful to whoever posted that advice on the thread and I hope they read this. I also hope that this information helps you all in some way, because I think the adrenal function IS the key to the histamine levels and it makes sense that we have so many thyroid problems as well since the adrenal function is so important to the thyroid function. I am hoping the adrenal healing will help my thyroid and in turn help with everything else, including the eyes. Thank you all for the wonderful help you keep bringing me, and Rachel --thank you for the relentless searching and your sharing on here.

Robbin, I'm sure we're related! :D If I ever catch up on this string (Took the day off, and I'm only on p. 208.) we'll have to compare family names.

I am so worried about your eyes! Praying a specific plea for your recovery.

I'm intrigued with this adrenal thing and it's connection with histamine. My sisters and my six children are sugar addicts, and I've already talked about my family's history of allergies. (I was a mean mother! My children weren't allowed to eat candy or drink cokes, though I did let them have two cookies after lunch. I hid the sugar bowl, so one of my sons couldn't eat raw sugar!) Anyway, I need to do some research.

  2. Evenin' Now I know that sitting on my heinie all day in front of the TV is a bad thing in R-ville.

Ah, Jeny, you're a Southern Girl with some German in your blood. We're probably kin. I know exactly what a "heinie" is!:lol::lol:

    Cissie

I don't know how y'all go outside during the summer. And dig in the dirt. In the sun. And enjoy it. Crazy people.

Amen! :P:P:P But I keep my house at 77-78 F, so when I come to visit you in Rachelville I'll wear my wool underwear!

    Cissie

  3. OMG Cissie, you are a freakin HOOT - - - - thank YOU veddy much....may I say that I LOVE my new title, believe I'll be sharing that with Cecile, dontcha know.....

can someone PLEEEEZ tell me how to make multiple quotes in one post? because, the only reason it's been happening in mine is that I get so excited and reply again to something, and it just adds it on to my previous post....did I mention that I'm kind of Amish, or at least Luddite? The computer and I are only friends when it's working, which thank God, is almost always....

and no, no new man....just a friend, truly. IT would kind of be like dating myself - - he is a former rock climber who studied languages and struggled deeply with depression.....yikes....and did I mention that I won't be dating for a while, because my HEART is still attached to Robert?? :(:(:(

You guys are cracking me up...and may I say, happy that I am cracking YOU up, have to get these things out of my brain or I am just laughing to myself, like a mad woman, or a crazy old Dog Lady, which OMG, I think I am now.....

    :lol::lol::lol:

Oh, by all means! Share the title with our Cecile!

I don't KNOOOOW how to make multiple quotes in one post; so sit down, shut up, and be thankful that I don't know.

Robert? ROBERT??? Don't make me have to come out there and hurt you!

    Cissie

  4. Your Honorable Goofiness,

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I'm not going to quote your last three posts because they would take up too much space, but girl, you crack me up every time you open your mouth!!!!!

    New man, huh? Sic 'im!

    Cissie

That's Minister of Defense in charge of our miraculous, protective, Auxigro-detecting geese, thank you veddy much!

  5. So does this thought on antihistamines suggest that if one suffers from a migraine headache (presumably caused by an allergy) or has morning hangover from drinking wine the night before, that taking an antihistamine will help?

P.S..... don't anyone faint... I do "think" now and then...

Cecile, an antihistamine wouldn't help my msg-induced migraines, but I can only speak for myself; don't know about other folks. The only thing that helps me is a suppository called Cafergot. I can't take anything by mouth, because I would just throw it up.

Cafergot is a powerful combination of caffein and ergot, and the doses must be carefully regulated. Ergot is a fungus that grows on grains, mostly rye, if the rye is growing in damp, soggy conditions. It affects the central nervous system, causing extreme muscle spasms and hallucinations; its effect on the body is like the effect of LSD.

Farmers, bakers, and shamen have known about ergot for thousands of years. (Can't you just see it! Shaman gathers clan around communal fire in cave; announces intention to communicate with Spirit World; turns around and whispers to acolyte, "Pass me that bowl o' grain, son; there's gonna be a hot time in the old cave tonight!") But I digress. In bygone days, fungus-infected grain occasionally slipped by, and was ground into flour for baking bread.

In a small French village in the mid-1700s (I think I've got the right century, but don't quote me on it.), so many folks went barmy with muscle contortions, hallucinations, and jumping out of windows, that they put the baker on trial for murder. I don't remember whether they hanged the poor guy or not.

See also: Salem, Mass.; cold, rainy summer; rye bread; teenage maidens twisting, jerking, and contorting upstairs, downstairs, and all around the town, screaming to high heaven about devils and witches. Who you gonna call? Why, your local witch busters of course!

Sorry. :( You can't even ask me a simple question, can you!!!

Thus endeth The Lesson of the Day.

  6. Another relevation,

So basically almost all the fruit I was eating is high histamine. Plus...if anyone can remember that far back...the first thing I suspected was making me sick was the avocados I was eating at the beginning of that week. I thought it might be cuz of the fat content because thats when my stools started getting loose and I felt yucky. I eliminated the avocados but this was after I'd already eaten about 5 of them. Since I didnt get better the rest of the week I figured the avocados had nothing to do with it.

Now I'm thinking different. I think the avocados (plus all the other fruits) may have sent my histamine levels through the roof. Even after I stopped eating them the levels would have remained high due to all the "high" fruits I continued to eat. Plus...the auxigro sweet potatoes would have released histamine (being poisoness and all). I was in histamine hell that week!!!

I didnt start getting better until I stopped eating everything except my pears, mangos, rice and chicken.

Another startling relevation from our esteemed President and Medical Sleuth-in-Pursuit-of-Truth!!! :o:o:o More clues to add to your ever-growing list.

However, and please forgive me for this, do you know why people say, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away."? To quote my beloved grandmother, Mama Lou, "It keeps your bowels working, child." In my opinion, Madame President, you ate enough fruit to make an elephant spinach! :)

    Cissie

  7. Teased????? Oh you tell me who.... My full name is Cecile... but people can't pronounce French so that's why I go by Celia.... they end up calling me Cecil.... HA... and I'm not a boy... well at least last time I checked.

I love your name! I'll call you Cecile from now on. (I know how to pronounce it, okay?)

    Your granddaughter is beautiful!!!!!

    Cissie

  8. Paused on my way out to read a pm.

Gotta say this: Apples - very bad for me because I'm allergic to pectin. They're okay if I peel them very well. Grapes - can't eat them because I'm deathly allergic to ingested mold. Bananas - can't eat them if they're overripe (see histamine) or underripe. Have to catch them at the just-right stage.

I'm really going to bed now.

    Cissie

  9. EDIT:

I guess I've had 7 pints now. Its been like 5 days I think. Someone told me if you wanna gain weight...ice cream is the best way to do it. I'm trying...but theres no big difference yet. Guess I'll just have to work harder at this. :D

Rachel, eating a huge bowl of ice cream every night was how I kept from losing weight for years. Then "d" struck, and I eliminated ice cream, thinking I'd become lactose intolerant. (Oh, how I mourned!) :(:(:(

Thanks to your string, a couple of weeks ago I was struck by an omg relevation! It wasn't the lactose; it was the other stuff in the ice cream. I'm happily back to my evening fix, and I swear I'm gaining weight. :):):)

Rinne, I didn't realize I was speaking to an expert. I feel a bit foolish, preaching to the "Amen corner!" Habit, I guess. In my circle I was so alone for so long. :( I got looks like, "What the hell is she talking about?" and, "Oh, Cissie's on a soapbox again. Let's just indulge her, wink, wink." ;)

Gonna turn in and get a good night's sleep. Pleasant dreams, everyone. I love you.

    Cissie

  10. Thanks for explaining Rachel. I was just hoping that may help. My most recent food allergy test (blood test) only tested positive for milk allergy, but I have tested positive to wheat and yeast allergy on a skin prick test. I just got all my results from the past faxed to me this week from my doctors office. It seems as though I reacted to dairy, but I have to have more testing done to make sure. Do you know if people can get histamine reactions to environmental things like dust, mold, and animal hair?

OMG, YES!!!!! Mold is especially bad! If you react to environmental molds, NEVER eat bleu cheese!!!!! And NEVER let a doctor give you penicillin!!!!! You could go into anaphylactic (I think that's the correct word.) shock. Many years ago I almost died from a penicillin shot.

    Cissie

  11. Lord have mercy!!! I'm desperately trying to catch up! I didn't get to sleep until 7 o'clock this morning (ET), thanks to having been "oatmealed." Never again!

Thank God Andrea is okay. You are so clever, Celia! In my humble opinion, you and Susan would make a fantastic comedy team. You're both so adorably goofy, and I love it!

Jeny, welcome to Rachelville! And a vet to boot! Would you take a look at Carmine, the Mother Goose? She's concerned about her down; seems it's looking a bit scruffy lately. God bless the US Army!

Rachel, Madame President, may I suggest a statue of Vincent be erected in our town square? Service above and beyond the call of duty, don't you know.

Nikki, you are absolutely correct. Ladies don't sweat; they perspire. Or as we say here in the South, they "glow."

Robbin, I'm worried about your eyes! After my cataract surgeries (only one at a time), I used the prednisone drops in gradually decreasing amounts. My surgeon said that was to prevent the eyes from becoming addicted to the steroids. Would you consider going to an ultra-specialist eye surgeon for a consultation? If I were you, I would!!!

Another thing, Robbin: You're a girl after my own heart! I've been preaching about the sad state of affairs in the fruit and veggie industry for eons! And it is an industry now. I'm a lot older than the rest of y'all in R'ville, and I remember how delicious fruit and veggies used to be, before growers began hybridizing them and treating them with a lot of crap so they would have a long shipping life!!!:ph34r::ph34r: Even organically grown fruit and veggies used to taste better than they do now. I attribute that to the widespread use of Auxigro.

There's another factor in there too. When people started turning to organically grown produce, they were willing to spend more for them, and to drive miles and miles to find them. (I was one of those people.) I only trusted the foods, fresh or canned, if they were certified as organic under the seal of approval of the state of California. In the beginning, organic produce came from small farms, grown by dedicated, forward-seeing farmers. (My next paragraph is purely conjectural.)

Well, suddenly the huge agricultural conglomerates began to sit up and take notice: "Hey, there's money to be made here!" So their lobbies got to work! Next thing I know, the FDA (I think they're the guilty party.) comes out with regulations governing the certification of all organic produce and meat. These regulations are far less stringent than those adhered to by the California standards. Voila! The agricultural conglomerates were once again in charge! THEN ALONG CAME AUXIGRO!!!!! At this point, I surmise, the small farmers were forced to throw up their hands and surrender to Auxigro in order to increase crop yield. Auxigro or die. We are being poisoned by the very foods we need to sustain our bodies.

Sorry. I went off on a tangent again.

Julie, I had forgotten about the gliadin in oats. See first paragraph. I'm adding your info about adrenal glands to all the histamine stuff in my search for an answer to the what and why of my family history.

As for the fish catching and gutting, we are on the ocean, you know. And we have a fresh-water stream, fed by our mountain spring.

Donna, hurry up and finish that Inflammation Syndrome book, so you can share with us.

Rachel, thanks for all the histamine research! I'm trying to figure out which came first - the histamine or the inflammation, or possibly the adrenal problem. My sisters and I aren't the only family members with histamine-related problems. The one thing I am absolutely positive about is that it's inherited; it's genetic. I can trace it only as far back as my maternal grandfather, but what is IT? I'm with you, Madame President; I want to find the exact IT - the core, the root cause.

You see, my life-long use of antihistamines isn't the only difference between my sisters and me that probably prevented my getting sick years ago. I've always been very, very, very peculiar about food. Don't like bread or meat (except pork), and many things on the histamine list; never, ever eaten fast food; smell everything before I eat it; refuse to eat leftovers; never, ever used pre-mixed anything; read all labels; peel or skin all produce if it's peelable or skinable; and the list goes on and on. My sisters have always joked about me. They say I'm just like Papaw (that maternal grandfather). But when I come to town for a visit, and buy tons of good stuff at a market in Midtown Memphis, my whole damn family can hardly wait to enjoy the feasts.:lol::lol:

I'm probably so far behind you all now, it will take me all night to catch up; so I shall just sit down and shut up.

    Cissie

I was going to ask who the hell are Brad and Angelina, but after reading other posts, I gather they have something to do with Hollywood and acting.

  12. Well, Rachel, my sisters have had a million tests, but no one ever even mentioned gluten or celiac to them. Is that not amazing? What am I saying! It's a given that most doctors don't have the sense God gave a billy goat!

Neither of them has a computer, so I've printed out stacks of info on celiac and msg and sent to them. One of the reasons I'm having the entire scope of tests done by Entero Lab on myself, is to also help them and the rest of my family, especially my children. I KNOW in my heart and mind that we're gluten intolerant and have celiac disease, but my sisters need something in writing to present to their doctors. My baby sister has a new gastro doctor, who's open to learning. I'm also going to send them what I've learned about histamine.

I'm miserable tonight because I too ate gluten-free oatmeal, and now I'm all bloated, and mad at myself!

Thanks for being there in the middle of the night!

    Cissie

  13. Omg, Rachel, I believe you might be on to something! I went to the histamine links you gave us, and I'm trying to apply the relevation to myself.

My family is so allergy-prone it's ridiculous. I have two sisters whom I'll call A. and B. Sister A. is 2 1/2 years younger than I, and sister B. is 9 1/2 years younger. (Don't worry; I'll get to the histamine.)

    A. has been depressed all her life, with frequent weeping spells (seemingly over nothing), even as a child. She has pernicious anemia (B-12 deficiency) and will need to have shots the rest of her life. Her abdomen bloats up, and for years she's had to run to the toilet an hour or so after every meal. Other stuff: ultra-sensitive to being touched and sometimes can't bear to take a shower; rosacea, foggy brain, memory problems, sinus problems, allergic to many foods.

    B. has rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, strange rashes, some food allergies, painful skin, mysterious painful knots in various places on her body, bloating (belly), and has to run to the toilet about an hour after a meal. (She's been fighting to stay alive for years, but that's from emphysema.)

My mother had msg allergy, bloating, tummy noises, and the oh-so-familiar diarrhea.

When I was five, I had my tonsils removed, and immediately developed allergy-related asthma. (Daddy saw a connection there, and I think he was right. He concluded that there must be some good reason why we have tonsils; it's just that nobody had figured it out yet.) Anyway my asthma was always triggered by something I inhaled. The worst attack in my life came from a visit to the ape house at the zoo.

When I was about twelve, my asthma morphed into terrible hay fever, and a couple of years later I started taking antihistamines. If I remember correctly, they had just become available. (I was born in 1933.) I'll skip over the tests, shots (which helped), etc. I have been taking antihistamines every single day since!

I spent half my life constipated, but no diarrhea until five or six years ago, and it got increasingly worse, until it finally scared me - especially when I went from 96 pounds to 91 in just two or three weeks. An acquaintance of my daughter's at work put me on to this website and to Entero Lab.

Okay, here's the kicker: Does it make sense that it took almost seventy years before I started having some of the same severe intestinal problems that my sisters have suffered from for years and years, BECAUSE OF THE ANTIHISTAMINES? I don't mean to shout, but I haven't figured out how to use the BB Code thingy.

I apologize for being so boring, but I can't sleep, and I feel serious tonight. Rachel, Madame President, our resident medical detective - is this possibly a link in your chain?

    Cissie

  14. Cissie,

I get cotton mouth from MSG too....it sucks. I got it really bad when I ate all those sweet potatoes and yams a few weeks back. Nothing else causes my mouth to get dry like that....except maybe gluten....so when it happens I know its from msg. For me I dont get the cotton mouth unless I've had ALOT and I'm usually pretty sick at that point. It goes away after a day or two though cuz by then I've stopped eating whatever caused it in the first place.

Before I ever went gluten-free and still ate all the normal processed food and stuff with msg my mouth was like cotton every freakin day...It was horrible. Alot of people get cotton mouth from gluten so I figured thats probably what had caused it back then but now I'm wondering if it was always a symptom of msg and not gluten at all.

Rachel, I TOTALLY agree! I often got cotton mouth and couldn't figure out why. But when I got cotten mouth PLUS a migraine I could always trace back and see that it was caused by msg. At the time, I had no idea that msg was hidden under other names, so that's why I couldn't make the msg-cotton mouth connection when I didn't have the headache. I hope I'm making sense. There's a storm coming, so I'm trying to finish this in a hurry.

  15. OK - First, click on your own name on your posts. This will bring up your profile. At the bottom of the page, there are 3 underlined options. Click Avatar Options (the one in the middle). Then you can either pick a base image (from the site), or you can upload a picture from your computer. To do one from your computer, click "browse" and a windows screen will pop up, and then you choose a picture from your own files. Once you do that, click "update avatar" and it should show up. If you get an error message that your picture is too big, you'll have to edit the picture in another program to get it small enough.

    Sorry if that was confusing.

Thanks, Chelsea! Not confusing at all. It makes sense to me now. I looked through my picture file, and not one picture of myself. I'll have dh take one on Tuesday after I get my hair done. :P

    Cissie

  16. I was able to get comfortable enough last night to get a little sleep... thanks to Cissi's prayers and Rinne's suggestion of the ice pack.

My Dingo buddy... you are doing a great job... and if we didn't feel all emotions good and bad we wouldn't be human... we wouldn't be living.... you are always in my prayers with the rest of you and I hope you feel a little better and stronger today!

To lighten today up a little.... I HAVE to tell you all this......this morning Tony woke up with wet goop all over and on him and freaked out, he thought my insides were coming out.... all I had last night was a package of spinach so I used this instead of my ice pack... and this was a frozen cardboard box and I fell asleep with it on my tummy and of course rolled around during my sleep... well the spinach thawed and oozed out of the corners

But now I have to wash all my bed sheets <_<

    ROFLMAO :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Oh, Celia! That's the funniest thing I've heard in years!!!!!
