  1. Hi all. Mummy's home. Not sure how they got her upstairs, but both my bro and his SIL were required. I guess her other knee is also badly bruised. Thanks for the reminder. Must sent flowers.
  2. You can still post your sources. Did you read this somewhere? Or is it only your opinion? Just tell us what you're basing your conclusions on.
  3. What a great story. It feels good to know that there are good things in the world, too. Thank you for sharing that.
  4. I kinda try to diagnose myself, then do online research to see what the treatments are. For example - I have some sjogren-like symptoms, but there isn't really any treatment for it (unless it attacks your organs) so I don't see any point in seeking medical intervention. Not the best approach to healthcare, perhaps, but I seem to be doing OK so far...
  5. Thanks. I have arthritic issues myself, and am negative for everything. I'm not really interested in getting a label at this point, since I wouldn't pursue any treatment, but I'm all for getting info for later on down the road.
  6. Nasalady, I'm curious how they/you decided it was RA, as opposed to all the other arthropathies?
  7. And poor Judith, trapped in the basement!
  8. Thanks for posting those, Tiffany. It wasn't something I'd ever wondered about and it was nice to get some education.
  9. Please post your sources so that others can look these things up if they want more information.
  10. Based on what? If you feel it's worth saying, please take the extra minute to back it up with sources.
  11. Based on what?
  12. No word on mum yet. The tricky part will be getting her upstairs from the car
  13. From me cats: We do not like what
  14. Can you do a steak for him, and chicken for you? Make mashed potatoes with chicken broth, and put a stick of butter by his plate? A bowl of shredded cheese near his plate? Carbonara with gluten-free pasta? Pork is still on your list - ham and cheese omelettes (hold the cheese on yours).
  15. Ah, but perhaps the distraction of memorization will make her forget that she's doing foolish exercises. You guys could be on to something. Health care disguised as performance.
  16. Jules, honey, if my mom were even remotely willing to do physical therapy, it's likely she would have had enough strength and dexterity not to fall in the first place. I think the only way she'd be willing is if someone came to their house. There's no way she's gonna go out in public and look like a "damned fool in front of strangers". stubborn old...
  17. Those look good too, Bev. I figure I'll give my parents about a week before I start sending exercise suggestions. A guy here said his wife did the "sit and be fit" exercises after she had foot surgery, so maybe I'll offer those up too. Yoga might be easier for her to start with, though.
  18. maybe she can fake it with one of those B-movie peglegs that you kind kneel on.... I'll look for a pic.
  19. unless you meant these Open Original Shared Link. I'm pretty sure those would do her in...
  20. Just takes me to the home page. Did you have a name I could search? I looked up some chair exercise too. Good idea. I also agree that swimming would be best, but I'm pretty sure it ain't gonna happen.
  21. Dunno. I think there's a cast involved. And my mom wouldn't swim in anything less than a full-on sweat suit. I'm trying to think through exercise options. Reclining bike?
  22. Happened yesterday evening. My dad emailed us this morning about it, and that she'd be having it fixed today. He just called to say that all the pins have been put in, and they plan on keeping her another night. No weight on it for 3-4 weeks. Very difficult. She's had two heart surgeries that stripped most of the veins out of her legs. And she...
  23. Me mum's in the hospital. She did Open Original Shared Link. Her ankle's now all full of screws (as opposed to her house being full of screwballs when all her kids are home).
  24. I can eat a little bit of processed corn, but whole corn does me in pretty quick. I think my tolerance is 15 pieces of popcorn (never counted kernels of corn in canned soup, but there aren't many).
