  8. I had to do this heinously complex thing yesterday for which I can come up with no 'real world' analogies. Something like: taking ~400 drops of water (that aren't really water, they are actually RNA and each sample is unique) and they can't get warm and you can't breathe on them and you take a tiny portion of each of these drops of water and put them in...

  10. I eat spinach a lot for breakfast and the guy I stand at the bustop with has realized that part of our commute relationship is to tell me when I have huge green chunks on my teeth. And the really phunny thing is that he doesn't see this as at all odd. And the really really phunny thing is that the whole ferry crowd feels it's their collective...

  20. So I met afriend for lunch, and she drinks....frequently. We went to one of her favorite places, where she gets free beer, and apparently, by my association with her, I, too, am entitled to benefits.\ I got a mongo margarity that had just enough mango juice to make the tequila not quite clear. and of course, I couldn't insult the bartender but not...
  21. You adapt. I am gluten, soy and corn free (in order of strictness). I also avoid potatoes and rice just because I don't think the benefit from them outweighs the detriment (for me). Just like when you started gluten-free, the concept is overwhelming, the reality can be dealt with.

Sarah, it's probably more than you can deal with right now, but maybe your mom can start checking into things. It sounds like MG Lisa has some knowledge already, maybe she can help your mom get started and point her towards where to look for more info...
  24. You have a huge safety net of people you've never met, but care about you just as much as if we've been close neighbors for years. You're free-falling at the moment, but you'll never hit the ground. We are here for you.
