Planet Smush

While my relationship is still heaven on earth, my delectable detective has been nurturing me through my latest health slump. I don't need ear surgery (no fluid), but the specialist says I have TMJ, which is caused by stress and my high-strung personality. I do not grind my teeth (like many TMJ sufferers), however, I do clench my jaw when I'm stressed (I'd never really noticed until I made an emergency pitstop at a gas station only to find an "out of order" sign on the restroom door, and realized, I do clench my jaw). I also chew gum regularly- not daily. And now I am on a soft food diet for one more week while the prednasone (makes you hyper, retain water, and dizzy/loopy) attempts to relax my strained jaw muscles. SO- gluten free and mushy. Starting to feel like I'm on another planet- planet smush- where there are no solid foods. I was doing well until I saw that Zack on Big Brother 8 (detective loves that show) sit down with a plate of chips and a sandwich the size of Pluto. MAN, did I want that sandwich! I've already stocked up on Gluten-Free buns so I can have one as soon as my softy days are over. I've had plenty of soup, Wendy's chili and frostees, milkshakes, pudding, eggsalad, jell-o, and fruit smoothies. I blended smoothies for everyone at work Friday, just to be positive about it.

According to the Doc, I've chewed my last piece of gum and crunched my last nut and carrot/celery/raw veg. Never again. For life.

Adding more restrictions to my gluten free destiny.

at least I'm healthy and happy and have a detective to massage my sore jaws and face and sing to me

But, I do miss gum. ALready. The smell, the fun in selecting the flavors at the store. Offering it to friends. Fresh breath....
