Got A Copy Of Blood Work

I posted in another thread that my daughter's TGG-IGG was the only elevated test that came back, here's her complete report, we're doing an endoscopy on Wednesday because of the one abnormal result.  I still don't know what to think:

Deamidated Gliadin ABS, IGA   2  (range 0-19)

Deamidated Gliadin ABS, IGG   2  (range 0-19)

TTG-IGA      <2  (range 0-3)

TGG-IGG     25  (range 0-5)

Endomysial Antibody IGA   Negative  (range Negative)

Immunoglobulin A Quant, Serum   70 (range 44-189)

Immunoglobuin A  69  (range 48-336)

They ran the TGG-IGG again about 2 months after the first blood test and it was at 22.  She also had a CBC panel run and everything was normal.  Any thoughts on this would really help thanks!

Hi again! I know we have been talking but wanted to comment after seeing the results! My daughters is about the same positive TGG-IGG how her dr worded it was they look at these like pregnancy test..a positive is a positive no matter how small and requires further investigating. Good Luck again! (hugs)

That tTG IgG is five times the normal limit, I think that is pretty high. It looks like a positive for celiac disease to me. Her IgA serum level is close to being low and could conceivably affect her IgA based tests.

My advice would be to make her gluten-free, keeping her on a gluten filled diet will hurt her. :(. I hope she feels well soon.

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
