I'm really angry because my mom doesnt want me go to my Celiac Chapter meeting on Nov.4 in Regina. she keeps coming up with excuses to why I cant go. I'd even skip a day of college for that. its supposed to be bowling (which is terribly miss) and pizza night. and you can bring anyone. she doesnt want to listen to me when I say why am I paying $40 a year for a membership if I'm not even allowed to be a part of any of the meeting or gatherings??

Its all of my family who are the ones that keep saying they dont know anything about Celiac and have never heard of it or anything, so this is their good chance to finally learn at least somewhat, taste some glutenfree food and have some fun.

Anyone one here from Saskatchewan that is going to it????

How old are you? It's a shame that your own family can't support you - and get the education they need. What a wonderful opportunity to go someplace where you won't have to worry about getting sick from the food. I know that's ALWAYS on the back of my mind whenever I go someplace other than home or work. Kinda sucks, but it's the only way to stay healthy.

I'm 21..But the thing is, i dont drive (its not something i'm skilled at at all) so without someone taking me, I have no way of going..I'd take the bus, but then I'd have no way to get to the bowling alley, and then nowhere to stay :P .. I dont know, it just really makes me dislike having Celiac all over again....

(clutching at straws)

- do you have a contact name(s) in the chapter who could meet you at the bus stop?

- are there web sites where you can research a suitable B+B or other place to stay where you can stay overnight and be sure of gluten-free catering? can the chapter suggest or recommend one?

I have this problem often enough on this small island, my heart goes out to you in the wide open spaces of N America ... hoping the best for you.

In the very worst case scenario it is NOT a victory for those who didn't want you to go, it's a thing there were practical obstacles against and you will do all you can and enlist others to help bring it about next time or the time after ...

Maybe your being seen to try & organise the above & enlist the assistance of chapter members might spark the imagination of those closer to you after all ...

Your response on this matter is what I expect. You’ve had a similar episode years ago, but this one is lasting longer!

I'd like to clarify: Is the pain you describe in the area just below your chest constant, or does it only appear when you start moving?

Thank you for the links to the articles.  Interesting reading. I'll be telling my brother in law because he has a lot of pain
