Costa Rica - Advice Needed!

OK... So I've never traveled outside of the US before.

My friend from college is getting married in Costa Rica. I had planned to go and was excited to go prior to getting sick and being diagnosed with celiac disease.

I've spent quite a bit of money on the diagnosis, changing my lifestyle, etc. Not only is money tight, but I'm also concerned about going to Costa Rica and staying gluten-free. How can I tell my friend that I am most likely not going to make it to the wedding?

It's this March by the way.

I'm assuming its a destination wedding?  At a resort?  You could call and talk to the resort as some of the bigger places can accomadate.  Also, use the google function I think someone had good luck in Costa Rica.

But, if you don't want to go, I think telling her that you wish you could but can't afford it is a good reason.

I have emailed the resort to see if they can accommodate my dietary needs. I am just really broke right now. I would have to put this trip on my credit card(s). The hotel alone is $250/night and that is assuming the 7 rooms they have are still available... Otherwise it is more expensive. Plus the cost of airfare, passport, etc. I missed her hen party in Chicago due to work and I just feel terrible. She currently lives is Australia.

Not being able to spend several thousand dollars is a legitimate reason not to go.  I'm sure you aren't the only one.

It's the guilt. I can only blame myself for this feeling but I just feel horrible! I emailed her today. I hope she responds well...

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
