the link above shows the results for my celiac panel I had done in May 2005. I have been diagnosed with these tests. I finally got my hands on the actual paperwork, but I can't understand it. Well, I can understand some of it... I know the Tissue Tranglutaminase IgA is Elevated. I don't understand what the two Endomysial sections mean. Like what does Endomysial, IgA 1:20 mean? I can't figure out if that is elevated or not. Also my Gliadin AB, IgG is Elevated, but my Gliadin AB, IgA is in the Normal range. Plus I'm not sure what Reticuln AB, SCR < 1:5 means.

Are these antibodies ever elevated in any other diseases??? I have chron's on my mom's side of the family.

I go in for a CAT Scan of my Abdomine next Tuesday becasue I'm still having some abdominal pain.

Any help would be awesome... I'm really confused.

Your tTG is elevated, your EMA was positive, your IgG was positive, your IgA was negative and your reticuln was negative.

Looking at the tests I would say you have celiac. The tTG and EMA are the 2 best and most accurate tests for celiac.

Here is another article to look at: Open Original Shared Link

In this article they found "Marked increased anti-tissue transglutaminase concentrations were found in celiac sprue, while low-positive values were also found in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Anti-endomysial antibodies were detectable only in celiac sprue." They concluded, "These features underline that, in addition to anti-tissue transglutaminase, an anti-endomysial antibody test is necessary in the diagnostic work-up of celiac sprue, especially in patients with known inflammatory bowel disease." I bring this up, since you said that Crohn's runs in your family.

It did look like your ttg, test, however, was more than just a "low positive."

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
